Just the fact that he appointed her does not constitute a legal conflict of interest. It has happened before that a person who appointed a judge comes under him/her as a defendant. That alone does not constitute a conflict of interest. Most judges can put aside the fact that a defendant appointed them and can judge the case fairly. Clearly Cannon has not.
