Jeremy, I just want to say that my Japanese journey started with following your videos about 7 years ago. I learned the very basics from you. Today, I am studying for the N1 certification test and was admitted to a graduate program in Matsuyama. Never take these down. Thanks for everything Jeremy.
Namasensei. I watched this video about four years ago. I got dropped from a class at my college and decided to use my free time to watch your videos. Now years later, I am still studying. I can read and write Japanese and speak with natives. It's all because you made this video and told me not to be a bitch and puss out.
It's because this is internet and everyone knows this was made sarcastically, so whatever he swears at us he doesn't really means any of it.. But irl it's gonna be serious everytime because that's what we're taught, to be serious everytime, and if someone teaches like that irl we would think they mean every ounce of it.. So maybe if a teacher wanna pull this off irl, they must be smart enough to at least notify the students once that they don't mean anything they swear at us and is just for fun..
This series is why I started learning japanese. Its funny, but it feel like a friend is teaching you. It doesnt feel like you're sitting in a classroom bored out of your mind, it feels like you're chilling with a friend drinking beer and learning a new thing. Its great.
Did you make it, good friend? I'm exhilarated to try and learn this language but I need your wise words, random person of the internet. I NEED TO KNOW IF YOU'RE HAPPY NOW
I'm so fucking glad these videos are still up after 10 fucking years. I still use them to this day. I hope these videos stay forever. Thank you namasensei.
I remember when this series of lessons had very little views and was unheard of, didn't even break the 100,000 view count. It makes me happy to know Namasensei's videos finally have finally gained some recognition.
For me personally, it would honestly make my life so much better. I love that motivation. This is how I talk to myself in my head already. But that begs the question, if everyone treated me like I treat me.. fuck.
Just FYI I live in Japan and you really don't need to have perfect handwriting or pronunciation to be able to communicate effectivly. I've had shitty handwriting in English for years. That's what computers are for. Welcome to the 21st century.
Nama-Sensei, I went to Japan recently and did okay speaking to people and reading signs. It was you who taught me my kana many years ago. Thank you very much. ある日、ファミチキを九個食べました。
@@cloudscape5996 Lmao same, last year i was digging deep into Porter and Madeon's discography and listened to 100% in the b, legit thoughts its porter saying all that, and now 1 year later I found out its nama sensei, and now im here

the vowel pronunciation has stuck with me for nearly 15 years at this point. it has helped me tremendously with pronouncing japanese words. BASED NAMA-SENSEI
As someone who's been learning for two years, finding this series has been side-splitting to say the least. And I'm impressed because it's all good info too.
I've been listening to Porter Robinson "100% In The Bitch" song for years, and just today I came across this video and can't stop crying from joy... God I love it!! Feels like I should take up japanese lessons...
Nama-sensei your videos are fucking funny and made me laugh out loud. And I associated studying Japanese with drinking beer which made it really easy to study 2 hours a day. I thought kana and kanji was scary shit but you said "this is fucking easy. you can do this. bitch!" and it worked. I moved to Japan, passed N1 and speak the language pretty well now, thanks to you.
This guy is awesome. Around a year and a half ago I started watching this series, mostly because it was funny, but after a while I noticed that I had actually learned something. When his lessons stopped I wanted to continue learning and I found other resources. I've been practicing every day for a long time now, and it's all started with this video. Thanks namasensei! But you made one mistake, you said I needed about a year, but that's too optimistic imo.. More like 3-5 years :(
Damn, this takes me back when I was in my last months of High School. I wanted to learn Japanese and eventually learned all the hiragana and katakana from this dude. Months later I started college and took my first Japanese course, and because of everything I had learned from Nama-Sensei, class was a breeze.
I just want to say, I normally have a hard time staying focused and learning. However, this first video got my constant attention, I was able to grasp all the concepts, Some might find this teaching style offensive, but it is working amazingly well for me.
@charmanderblitz hiragana is the main way of writing alongside kanji and whatnot. katakana has the exact same syllables as hiragana, but it uses different, sharper looking characters. katakana is used mostly in TV, manga, and often in writing foreign words.
Thanks for the hiragana lesson. Very useful. As for finding a new favorite word to say every so often to humble your pupils. I say, Don't be a quitter!

This is strangely motivateing
I think so yes and by implementing some physical aggression it could really be next level

Nostalgic. If this video didn't exist, I would never have learned the language because I thought it was so hard. You are a good motivator.
People saying "i would love to have teachers like this", but in real life if any teacher says anything close to this, they will put a lawyer on it.
maybe some people, however there will be some that would find this funny. would be actually nice as a course you can sign up for haha
