Lovelyz has one of the best vocals in the kpop industry that 6 out of 8 members appeared on King of Masked Singer. It’s a shame that their agency didn’t promote them well enough, even after Queendom when they were gaining popularity. I miss them…
And korea didn't look at them for all those years
I know we were sad because they didn’t promoted after queendom but it was for the best, they were really hated back then because idk some weird fans from other groups :/ I miss lovelyz too
To be fair, queendom didnt only gave exposure to them, it gave them a lot of negative reception from the general public.
I still think that its so unfair that they disbanded with nothing, but there were rumors flying around that they actually were preparing for their last comeback before disbandment, but sadly, it will never be released.
I do think they were promoted nicely before, considering they have been doing concerts multiple times in Korea, and the love they got from audiences all around Asia was pretty good too. But I think, ever since the pandemic, woollim stopped trying and let the girls choose what they wanted, hence some of them started focusing on being actress or training musicals. And I think the mass hate they got from queendom was the line that made the company gave up on them.
@@yourkpopvocalanalyst I know this is an old comment, but saying South Korea didnt look at them for years is misleading. In fact, they held multiple concerts in Korea and they always sold out their tickets quickly. A lot of fans from the asia region, like from Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mainland China, etc also attended those concerts. They actually was popular and very loved by Korean fans and thats why they can be active as much as they could even tho they didnt really win that many awards. Their sales were also pretty big and steady for a group that doesnt do a lot of promoting outside of Korea. So yeah, they were loved by Koreans.
The sad thing about them is that from debut until the very end, many of their contents were lacking in terms of subtitles and their events were also not as accessible to fans outside of Korea, hence why their growth and popularity was not as noticeable. And sadly, whats even worse for them is the fact that they went on queendom. Sure they gained some spotlight after that, but mostly for the wrong reasons. They get so much hate because they "change their concept" for some of the stages in queendom, then the lipsyncing controversy, and they even got massive hate for the smallest thing like changing their song even when the producer of the show was the one that gave that privilege to them.
After the whole hate train, and they kept getting low ranking on the show, it was clear the company started to push the girls to focus on solo promotion that they wanted (like acting, solo debut, training and classes, variety, etc) and that made the fanbase unstable because they were waiting for comeback after queendom. Of course we finally get the comeback Obliviate, but after that there was no concert and anything like that, something Lovelyz tend to do. Even with minimal promotion, the sales still hit over 30k in the first month.
And after waiting forever, when they finally uploaded a group video, it was pretty clear that in the video the girls were not gonna stay in the company given how focused they were in their solo activity to the point they were surprised when looking at each other saying "Its been so long since I last saw you". And after they all went their own path, signing with diff companies, some of them even said there was supposed to be a final album before they disbanded and one of the girls would have another solo in the album. That just meant they were quite loved and fortunate enough in terms of finance, its mostly the company not knowing the effective way to promote them, hence why they looked so closed off and looked as if they were not popular.

The way i didn’t stan Lovelyz back then and when they dropped “Now, we” i CRIED THE WHOLE SONG bc i really loved it and made me felt some type of way, like i was a kid again and had my first crush or something plz 😭
I remember listening to Candly Jelly Love on my way to school in 9th and 10th grade, but now I'm a college graduate. Time goes by so quickly.

Lovelyz is literally the queen of bubblegum pop, their twinkly sounds are the best for me. There are still so many songs from them you would absolutely love, so yeah you should react to the other title tracks too, and maybe their entire discography as well 😂 love your reactions, fifi 💕

Newly debuted ILY:1 reminds me a lot of what I love about Oh My Girl, GFRIEND, Lovelyz, etc. And I love it so much. ILY:1’s debut “Love in Bloom” and its b-side “Azalea” make me so happy and hopeful.

Lovelyz was one of those groups that debuted when I was a baby kpop fan and one of the first groups i stanned from debut.
i think you'd love their songs "Destiny", "Wow!", "Shooting Star", and "Hi~" too. if anyone deserves a discography dive its Lovelyz. but if you only have time to react to a few albums, I hope you do their last one because I *need* to see you react to Dream In A Dream lol, it's Loveylz "Pantomime moment" imo

ah-choo is one of the representative kpop songs to me it encompasses so much of what made kpop so magical when i got i to it and always what i show people as part of the “cutsie” side of kpop
oh, right! and a fun lovelyz fact: you mentioned that their sound reminded you of early loona, and there's a reason for that. jaden jeong (loona's creator) was the head of a&r at woollim until the end of 2015, so he oversaw lovelyz's music until then. he even intended on giving each member a solo release before the eventual debut of the group, but the project didn't fully pan out and only 3 members (babysoul, jiae, and jin) got their solos. these songs are included in lovelyz's debut album. he'd later go on to fully realize this project with loona, but you can still hear a lot of lovelyz's influence in loona 1/3's sound. loona is my next favorite group after lovelyz, so i've always liked this connection!

I feel bad for only knowing "Obliviate", which is sadly their final track before disbandment. I feel bad for not listening asap to their earlier discography! I love how they exude this innocent and earnest vibe. The synths are amazing, the 90skpop-like chord progressions, the twinkly sounds, and most especially, THE MELODIES ARE SUPERB. Actual singing! Actual chorus! Gonna add them to my "Purity" playlist alongside GFriend, Oh My Girl, and Loona 1/3!!!
Please do a deep dive. Lovelyz discography is really solid. I absolutely love “Moonlight”, their song from Queendom. I will never forgive Woollim from squandering that song from proper promotion.
I think part of the reason their old songs hit so hard now is because there’s not many doing cute concepts nowadays. Despite being a cute group, they had 3 main vocals (Kei, BabySoul, Jin) who were powerhouses and even their lead vocal Sejeong could easily been a main vocal in any other group
I feel when i got into kpop Lovelyz was written off by many western fans as the boring girly girl group that don't make noise overseas. So I LUVVVV that you enjoyed their synthy goodness for what it is ♥️
I don’t think lovelyz ever made a song I didn’t like, they really stuck to a consistent trademark sound (minus obliviate lol) and made all bops
I called their style "healing" because I always feel better when I listen to their music. It's like there is a warmth to it. Mijoo, Yein and Jisoo will always be amongst my favorite idols.

Lovelyz is my ult group and I've been highly anticipating your reaction to them! I love your commentary because I share a lot of your taste and there are certain sounds and audio-aesthetics that really appeal to me, so I KNEW you would loooove Lovelyz! I didn’t understand Lovelyz’ appeal at all until I heard Lost’n’Found and then Now, We. great melancholy hidden inside a fast-paced song (not unlike how GFriend used to do it) is what I love the most in kpop.

Wow a Lovelyz reaction 😭 They're my all time favorite group. They have a unique sound that you don't find anymore in kpop imo. If you like intricate sounds and instrumentals, definitely check out their discography. They were one of the very few groups that consistently made beautiful and *interesting* music (a lot of their instrumental tracks were released as a separate album, Muse on Music). And they have a very strong vocal lineup. It hurts my heart this group was not more appreciated internationally 😭

I absolutely adored Lovelyz as soon as they released their debut single!! They've always had a refreshing and magical sound that, in my opinion, really kicked off the newer generation of girl groups embracing this modern "shoujo" style... it's the best way i can describe it! It's just disappointing they never got the same deserved appreciation as later groups such as Gfriend, Oh My Girl or even WJSN/Cosmic Girls
Anyway, hoping you do dive into Lovelyz' discography eventually, I'll be playing their music exclusively for the next coming days for sure 💚

I'm late for this but I'm really happy that you get to react to some of their title tracks. You're literally me when I first discovered and listened to them. One of the best groups also one of the best debut song 😭😭 That Day is one of my faves too. It makes me calm when I'm sad or anxious. I mean most of their song is just healing and I love that. They're also one of the few groups who doesnt have raps in songs (only few but not in title tracks). Even though they literally have a rapper/vocalist Baby Soul, they wont force it and just stay true to their colors. Hoping for part 2. Thank you so much Fifi 💛

If you love this FiFi, listen to Angel by Berry Good and be sonically windblown. Also, definitely react to their entire discography. Lovelyz didn't have as big of a fanbase, but their sound was consistent and that's what I loved about them.
so excited for you to check out lovelyz! basically all my friends and i say lovelyz has the best discography in kpop, even though many of us (me excluded lol) aren’t lovelinuses! honestly, their disbandment was such a disappointment and a big loss for girl group music! but! the members are all still very close and are all pursuing solo activities like solo debuts, musicals, and acting!

Ah-Choo has become household song in Korea. you can ask anyone there who don't know the song. And also Twinkle, their christmas song is the Korean equivalent to All I Want For Christmas Is You in the west.
I was following Lovelyz even before their debut until the end. I'm sad because of the disbantment but at the same time I'm proud that they have left their distinctive mark on the industry.

Woollim never disappoints us in their music production on every groups like Infinite, Lovelyz, Golden Child, Rocket Punch and Drippin.
Yet many people not appreciate the lovely and cutie image of Lovelyz as girl crush is too huge concept for girl groups that moment. hope you will check out Goodbye like yesterday, "Hi~", Destiny and Twinkle!! they are dude!!
Lovelyz was very popular in Korea domestically. So everyone feeling bad about not stanning or them being underrated, it's okay lol. Not every group goes international and that's okay ☺️

Thank you so much for reacting to lovelyz. They are one of my favorite groups from 3rd generation 💖. I feel you will really like WoW! And destiny. Their bsides are so good as well hidden gems that I feel people should take the time to listen to. Alot of people didn't like their concept at the time because they thought it was too cute or generic but honestly I feel like they could've been up there with gfriend or other groups. They are the sweetest girls and their lovelyz diaries are really funny incase you need something to watch.

'Hi' is my fav song of lovelyz. It's so magical. Try to listen it
I recommend you to listen to their vert first album, you will be amazed for real this IS perfection (especialy "good bye chapter 1" and "Getaway") ; for title track, "Wow" IS really interesting to listen really love the Key progression their, and Beautiful Day have this really sorrowful nostalgie feeling. Oh and fun fact, "A-Choo" made a guiness record for being a song with 37 chord !! And I'm glad toi reacted to them their discography IS typically your style for real.

Before stanning Dreamcatcher and Loona I actually liked Lovelyz a lot. Sadly they were underrated but They really had great songs and their vocals were amazing. I recommend you to listen to Destiny as well. It's one of my favorites.
