DIY Create A Table Top Gazing Ball

  • I just love those gazing balls/garden globes in peoples yards. When I was a kid I always thought they were like a special crystal ball that would have magical powers. I have notice a lot of people making them lately. I decide to give it a try and wanted to share it with all of you. Instead of mine being for the yard or garden, I'm making mine for my table outside. You will be able to adjust this for the yard or if you want to keep yours indoors.
    Thank you for watching! I’d love to invite you to join me…

    I just this morning saw some of your projects on HomeTalk. I was mesmerized by this one, and I can’t wait to try it! I have all of the materials on hand. With COVID being a concern, we are staying at home, so this inspiration was just what I needed to bring some light to my day (or night). I live in Texas-suburbs of Houston. One of my favorite projects was a Christmas wreath I made and donated for a charity auction. I usually give what I make as gifts, and strangely, do not have many in my home. This light globe, however, will stay with me!

    This is so cute. I’m going to make one for my garden. Every garden needs a little whimsy. I’m from Hendersonville, TN. I love watching any kind of craft tutorial because I get ideas for home, gifting, or my classroom. My favorite projects always involve repurposing some object usually while using what I have on hand. Thanks for sharing your ideas.

    Watching from Ft Myers Florida. - hi! Love this idea. I need to know how to make a large one for my front yard. A hurricane took my last one up up and away!

    Hello Chas! I discovered you on hometalk this morning and I’m now subscribed to your blog and your utube channel. I love this project and I’m going to make it for a belated birthday gift for a friend. I haven’t crafted for so long that I’ve forgotten my favorite project I ever did. I know it wasn’t as nice as this or I would have remembered. 😊 I live in Sun City, Arizona. I make silver jewelry and soon will be taking lapidary so as to cut my own stones. Thank you so very much for posting all these beautiful projects for us❣️

    I just E6000 mine on as it was something I'm familiar with unlike the silicone and it has a 5-15 minute tack on dry depending on the medium you work with and how much glue you use, full cure is 24hrs still (i live in the desert so hot glue was right out!) I used a bowl and a towel draped in it to keep the ball on its side and from rolling around while the glue dried. I'm going to let the E6000 cure and probably clear acrylic spray it with some modge podge spray, just to give it extra durability from weather and stuff like when i water the garden...i live in New Mexico it'll get hot this summer so I'll let you know how that does against the heat! (If i don't post back by fall someone go ahead and remind me to if your curious how well this method worked, I'm forgetful😳)
    *side edit note i went ahead and spayed mine early they cured well in the hot sun .... I also put like 4 coats of glow in the dark paint in mine and that really looks really cool in the dark! 😃

    I'm an 🎨 artist. I paint nudes and landscapes using watercolor media. I have some favorite paintings I've framed and display throughout my home. 🇺🇸💋
    How about you, my friend? Where do you hail from You look and talk West Coast, you remind me of sweet little Cindy from the Brady Bunch! What's you're fav project?
    The solar light idea is groovy! Looks like a cost effective idea! Mrs Brady, your mom, would approve!
    Tip: I've seen other creators combine the glues from the start, mixing hot glue and E6000 together. One squirt, next squirt. Hot glue dries 1st holding the stone in place, E6000 makes it permanent.

    Thanks for showing this. I had planned to do one before I came upon your video. It answered several different questions for me, now I do not have to try and figure them out. I am from Youngsville, NC and my favorite craft lately has been making wreaths. Question: Have you ever tried grouting the project? If so, how well did it work for an outdoor project? Linda Skipper

      @ChasCrazyCreations  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Linda, and I'm glad this helped you. I would love to see your wreaths. I have made a few but am no expert by any means :) I have not tried grouting a project yet, but I'll add it to my list.

    Hey I'm in Colorado. Cement mushrooms is my favorite project so far. I love this idea. I'm wondering what about pouring resin over it??

      What about polyurethane over the top. It would hold the rocks on in any temperature

    • @karlatoles1985
      @karlatoles1985 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Resin is expensive. Why couldn't u use polyurethane?

  • @LGPauwels

    Why not use E6000 to adhere stones to the ball?

    • @ChasCrazyCreations
      @ChasCrazyCreations  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      E6000 is really runny so the stones won't stick right away. You'd have to glue and tape them into place. The same reason I won't start with silicone as well.
