Roosevelt Avenue is main thoroughfares in the New York City boroughs of Queens. Roosevelt Avenue begins at 48th Street and Queens Boulevard in the neighborhood of Sunnyside. Roosevelt Avenue goes through Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona, Flushing Meadows-Corona Park (adjacent to Citi Field) and Flushing. In Flushing, Roosevelt Avenue ends at 156th Street and Northern Boulevard. Roosevelt Avenue is well known for its diversity of cultural representation, ranging from Indian to Latin American, while in the 2020s, Downtown Flushing is undergoing rapid gentrification by Chinese transnational entities. More than three hundred languages are spoken along the street, and the neighborhoods it passes through are described as the most ethnically diverse in the world. [Source: Wikipedia]

Queens sure has changed It has become a hybrid of Tijuana and Bangkok mixed together.
😂😂😂
Lol bang 🐓
Has turned into a crappy mexican city. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🎯
😂
You Basically summarized Queens.
Love how there's an actual fish market there next to metaphorical ones
hello ladies said the blind man
sad
I used to visit my grandmother and her sister as a kid in the summers. It was the early, mid 70's. Exact area. I remember walking around with them, shopping the street markets, eating at various pizza places, riding around with my brother on my Schwinn bike, banana seat and all. Summer of Sam, we weren't out after nightfall until after he was caught. I saw a few celebrities too. Disco Era, there were the nightclubs blasting disco music, Italians with their polyester suits, and gold chains, dress shoes, in the middle of the day, just like a scene out of Saturday night fever. So many memories. Grateful I got to see it during that Era.
Which celebrity you saw Lidia. Do you still go to this place to revive memories?
You saw Travolta Disco shoes in the store ?. 😆✌️
Thanks for the story. Sounds amazing. Part of me wishes I was around for that. Born in 88.
Memories are all that's left unless major changes are made.
I wish I could have seen NYC before the bankruptcy on the 1970’s and 80’s
Parts of it look like the infamous Recto avenue area in Manila. Insane! Real life beats media depictions any day of the week. I wish most people in most medium-developed economies countries like here (the Philippines), India, China and Mexico see this vid so they finally realise life is literally the same everywhere and developed places are only developed for the privileged. "The grass is always greener"until you get there. high wages almost always means high bills and higher rent.
I grew up in the 50's...and during and after the late 60's...everything started to go CRAP !...GUESS WHY..! ...Read Real HISTORY..
Ever seen the movie Taxi Driver ? @@remingtonsteel5945
agree with you....parts of this video looks very similar to the dodgy streets of Manila......never been to the US...but this is a real eye opener......real life in the real streets of NYC
All the signs of human trafficking and modern day slavery are along this street. The women are turning their backs for a reason and have likely been coerced to be where they are now. We need to do better.
Can't use a run down street in NYC as a representation of the US. You will never find a place like this in a nicer and safer state such as Utah or Idaho. The US is massive.
I would choose seeing this kind of street rather then the Kensington St. in Pennsylvania. That place is beyond sad.
I was going to say the same thing...
People need to get out of their comfort zone. They only know their neighborhood and are clueless about what happens outside of their place.
Watched vids, I can't imagine how those people cope, beyong sad...😔

Thank you for sharing ❤
I had no idea queens was like somewhere in Columbia. Eye opening, thank you for the walk.
Ehh, only this part of Queens. If you keep walking with the street numbers going up, Roosevelt Avenue eventually becomes like Little Korea. If you keep walking with the street numbers going down, Roosevelt Avenue becomes more like Little Pakistan/India/Bangladesh.
Astoria, Steinway Street/25th-28th Avenue, you will think you are in Egypt or Lebanon or Morocco.
Colombia not Columbia
Why does everybody keep saying this .Colombia doesn't even look this bad this is more like mexico or central america
It wasn't like that until illegals started to come , now that area looks like a 3rd world country 😒😒😒😒
This video only covers the Jackson Heights section of 77th Street - 93rd Street along Roosevelt Avenue, which is heavily Latino (Colombian, Mexican). To the west, the 74th Street area of Jackson Heights is known as Little India, and further west, Sunnyside/Woodside was historically 80% Irish but is now 30% white, 30% Asian, 30% Hispanic. To the east, North Corona is primarily residential and Latino. Further east is Shea Stadium (New York Mets) and the Arthur Ashe Stadium (U.S. Open). On the other side of Shea Stadium/Arthur Ashe Stadium is a large Chinatown in Flushing centered around Main Street (~139th Street) and Roosevelt Avenue. Roosevelt Avenue ends in Murray Hill where it meets Northern Blvd at 156th Street. Murray Hill has a high concentration of Korean restaurants and there are Korean stores along Northern Blvd extending further eastward to Auburndale, Bayside, and Douglaston neighborhoods.

Haven't been to Roosevelt Ave for so many years , its unrecognizable
I grew up on Warren St off Junction Blvd and Roosevelt ave in Elmhurst in the 1960s. Your video brought back
many fond memories of this neighborhood. The area was very different in those days. The streets did not have
all the food and merchandise on the side walks that it has now. I think the cost of living has become so expensive
that these people are just trying to survive. Our old house that we sold in Elmhurst for less than 30,000 is now
selling for over 1,000,000.
This is New York City ??? It Looks like Manila City or Mexico ! Third World heeee !
I had friends in warren st , I grew up in junction blvd and 45 th st , in the late 70s and 80s , around the 90s it started to get really bad with the illegals , I move to Long Island
It's expensive because the Chinese have been buying all the real estate in Corona and Flushing and using it as investment properties.
@@martinalarcon3108 the only illegals are the YT europeans who crossed an entire ocean illegally 😂

Best moment at 14:05 - the LED sign, in front of the bar/taqueria, flashing "HAPPY HO"
No. It's at 4:10 best looking girl in the video.
Better than down town San Francisco. No homeless tents and fentanyl addicts.
Yea, that's what I'm saying... Is just crowded...
nothings worse than Kensington
Right. I see some issues, but it looks way better than SF right now. Maybe Denver, too.
I grew in Corona Queens n the 1950s one block off Roosevelt Ave. His walk under what we called "The EL" for elevated train (as opposed to subway) was the walk I would take to school (PS 19) every day. What a sad state of affaris to what it now has become. RIP Corona Queens...
Gracias por compartirlo! 🙋🏻♂️🇲🇽👍
Thanks for the vlog.i havent been to New York city before.
I love it
I lived in Mexico City for three years. When I walked a couple of blocks in Queens NY I felt no difference.
Reminds me 100% of Mexico City.
New York ain't got nothing on mexico city.
Isn’t Mexico City better than this?

Goodmorning Sifat. I missed the first part, so watching the replay. Thank you for all you do. Wanted to let you know that the Google map link was really nice. I always like to know where we are during the walks.
I love your show so much!!!!
I took the IRT on 103rd st and Roosevelt ave every morning going to Mater Christi H.S. in Astoria back in the 70's. Those are still times I treasure the most.
Few years ago I used to go up there for work I felt so nice on a Friday nice culture god bless
I'm retire now and moved away but this was part of my district when I worked for the phone company for 20yrs. I miss working this area. I covered from Far Rockaway up to Long Island City and even into Green point. Thanks for the good memories.
I am originally from South America: Wait one year and this might have become a mini-Narco State.
@@RicardoMartinez-oh9sq you are talking as if it doesn't happen yet in New York, there is people selling drugs everywhere

Wow you learn something new about NYC everyday.
I love visiting Roosevelt Ave when I come to NYC but it sure is Tons of massage girls I've seen them in front of literally every other bldg around Jackson heights part of Roosevelt handing out cards and flyers
Now I living in Moscow the thing that I miss the most is a great set of tacos in Roosevelt av, specifically from el taco veloz, Roosevelt av food is just amazing!!
Great fish tacos at Roosevelt ave!
Nice walking tour.
I really like walking in New York City and watching this video very good to me. Thank you so much channel owner.

Good afternoon from South Africa. Can't wait to explore NYC....
"Explore" lol
Aaaaa malome o batla kae
Oh no man, please stay where you are...this is already full of intruders
I love video. Enjoy walking with u
I grew up in Queens and bought a house in NJ in 2005 and left. I know this place inside out, and I watched it changes from when I was 5 to 33 when I left. I use to make weekend trips back to the city and sometimes Queens because all my friends were there. I now like in Atlanta because the cost of living is so damn expensive in NE. You got to adapt and stay agile to changes. I am 51yo now and getting ready for what is to come for the US economy. Stay strong.
Do this at night. Will remind you of any country in South America
So tragic 😮I grew up in this side of queen , it wasn’t like that when I live there years ago
its Spanish speaking only with mostly amigos
Corona and East Elmhurst has been like this for a while now. Always pretty shitty.
Thanks!
Welcome!
Wow
Roosevelt Ave, Queens have one of the biggest Red Light Area in NYC.
Sifat you make an amazing video.

My wife is Hispanic and we used to go there alot. Fun to walk around, shopping, eat. I'm in boring Florida now
Ugh lol
New York City look very beautiful place
This used to be my block when I grew up in my youth. We live in Ridgewood and traveled out of America and close to Canada. Nothing beats better than borough of Queens . The food always is better over there than in MA ❤❤
How are the hookers and drug dealers there?
Well, now I know where to purchase red lights. This helps for Christmas cheer.
Like walk 👍👍👍👍👍💗
Now we know the good spots. Thanks, fam 🙏
Thank you for the tour. Was trying to find the goods. Seems like they’re in the 100s
A Sincere Thanks for the Memories!! Bill Born 1948
This is the best NY video I’ve ever seen. I can pause it at anytime and get a street photo. None of that tourist crap that’s all over utube. This is raw footage right here. Keep them coming. Just like this.
Your absolutely right
Some classic movies have similar images.
Memories
At the beginning of the video there are obvious signs of young women caught up in human trafficking. They are likely from Southeast Asia. We need to be more aware. Slavery is unacceptable in 2023.

-high cost of living

Wow memories! I used to live on 86th street between 32 Ave and Northern Blvd. I knew it was mostly Hispanic, but it seems it's all Hispanic now a little PR, DR, Cuban, Vena, Columbian and with a little sprinkle of other Spanish nationalities. It's been since 1992 when I moved out of Queens. I was wondering if the Argentinian empanada shop on 82nd street and the Valencia Bakery shop on Roosevelt was still around.
I grew up on Warren Street off of junction boulevard and Roosevelt avenue. This brought back a whole lot of memories. Thirty or forty years ago, the whorehouses used to hand out business cards saying all kinds of outrageous hours they were open 2am-7am "Clothing for Men" etc...crazy
When was this , the whole houses been left since 2014 what is address or tell me where it's at I will deal with them for you
WOW. Sad to see
Man, Queens has become a real cesspool since I grew up there in the '70s. The Fire Department where I live now would never allow all that crap on the sidewalks.
Naw. Plenty of areas in Queens that are quiet and safe. It's a big borough and you seem a bit out of touch making that generalization.

Every block is a different flavor of food and ethnic varieties of dishes.
@@nawa3236 Aah, yes!, Roosevelt Ave is indeed diverse. You have Filipino, Irish, South Asian and Hispanic on the Woodside part, South Asian and Hispanic on the Jackson Heights part, all-Hispanic on the Corona part, then finally Chinese and Korean at the Flushing stop.

Just like one of our streets here in the Philippines . Side walk vendors here and there.

Are the girl from phil too?
It's possible. There are signs of human trafficking along that street and it's disappointing to see in a progressive city in the US. I'd wager they were coerced, speak little English, and are now in a miserable situation. We need to do better in this country! @@leealex24

I was born and raised in Elmhurst Queens. When I visit today, I feel saddened and disgusted how it has been made filthy with all these illegal vendors , gang cartel and prostitution. It used to be a neighborhood where families was raised, everyone went to church, summer nights were block parties and everyone could walk safely to school with friends and family. It wasn’t congested and densely populated. From Junction Blvd to Woodside you could Shop in High End Boutiques and find High end jewelry on 82st.
