    Having multiple bras and panties . I can remember a time when I had 2 panties and the same bra for over 1 year and a half . Being able to change my pants after every 6 months is a big privilege to me.

    A privilege is an advantage that you didn’t choose… pretty, white, wealth, able bodied or whatever else… a privilege is not chosen. It just is

      what if you worked really hard until you accumulated a lot of wealth, more than 90% of the people on the planet . I think the best way to put is a privilege is an advantage that majority don't have whether you chose it or not lets not overthink it🙃

    Inheritance is a privilege. Your parents don't owe you an inheritance. That they choose to give it to you - instead of spending it all or donating it to maybe a charity - is a great privilege. Honor it. Appreciate it.

      It's biblical they should do this even to the 2nd generation, but if they don't have it's ok , most of us don't have anything to inherit apart from names and we're here adulting and doing our best to get something for the next generation.

    It is a privilege for sure, having both your parents alive in your adult life. I see it more now that am an adult, our mum passed when I was 8, memories of her are so blur in my head.

      As a parent of 2, I don't consider it a privilege of being a good, supportive, loving parent to them. That's my job. I acknowledge that there are really lousy parents, but that doesnt mean doing my job is a privilege to my kids

      I don’t think being wealthy generally is a privilege because youd have had to work for it but the circumstances surrounding the acquisition of wealth can be considered a privilege because that’s what gave you the edge over the next person e.g born into a wealthy family or having affluent connections or inheriting wealth

    Lydia’s point on the supportive parents aspect is so spot on.Knowing your parent(s) are there to sort of aid in your survival means you’re not constantly breaking your back to work and survive.Its an unexplainable safety net.Without it you live life constantly HUSTLING with no break because you know its a do or die situation.Im speaking from experience of not having that safety net.Having supportive parents is definitely a privilege.

    Having a job can be a blessing or a privilege depending on an individual.
    - It's a blessing - if you have faced challenges in securing employment.
    - It's a privilege - in contexts where access to employment is not equal for everyone for example because of systemic barriers etc.
    Being able-bodied can be a blessing and/or a privilege.
    It's a blessing - if you appreciate your health and physical abilities
    It's a privilege - because our society is structured in ways that creates advantages for the able-bodied. Access to certain spaces, services, and opportunities is easier for the able-bodied.

    Hello! I rarely comment but this topic and conversation was intriguing so here are my thoughts. I viewed this through the lens of nature and nurture. The privileges of nature are out of our control (gender, race, able-bodied, when you are born etc) and those privileges can be measured by how we show-up in the world and certain spaces. As for privileges that are a result of nurture, I viewed them from the lens of social determinant of health (SDOH), a concept that considers environmental factors in which people are born and raised in and how they affect one’s health and quality of life outcome. SDOH: economic stability, education access and quality, healthcare access and quality, neighborhood and built environment, and social community context. It’s important that both ACCESS and QUALITY are considered when discussing privilege.
    Thanks for the mental stimulation.

    Getting/ having a job that doesnt drain you or drive you into alcoholism and depression is definetly a priviledge.
    Enjoying Christmas ( holidays in general) because you look forward to spending time with your family is a priviledge. Some people would even work through christmas if their offices were open because christmas time with some of their family fills them with dread because of the toxic, manipulative and abuse they experienced or have experienced at some point.
    It is a priviledge that we have acess to information and knowledge and we have the space and chance to analyze and deconstruct some of the beliefs that were instilled into us as kids and forming our own nuanced balanced opinions.
    We are priviledged not to have destructive natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunami's, tornadoes, e.t.c, the destruction would take us too long to rebuild.

    Do you know what else is a privilege? Being straight babes!!! When Lydia brought up the closing your eyes exercise trying to imagine your both parents together, for me I tried to imagine the time anyone has ever loved me romantically or at least showed a romantic interest and you know what I couldn't picture that in my head. The saddest part is, I can't even picture that moment anytime soon because I'm gay who doesn't see himself outside the closet. Anyways, enough with complaining but as always nice episode ladies, not sure how we are going to survive when you go for a break that you clearly deserve.

    I believe that privilege is one of those terms like growth... That's individual to a person in terms of definition... You can't define privilege to another person and that's where the dance comes in otherwise everything in this world is privilege... The analogy of the person without a car, the person without shoes, the person without legs.... Depending on where you are in life and from an outsider looking in or insider looking out everything is privilege

    Here's my two cents on the privilege and blessing in relation to work. Having a job in Kenya is a privilege. Majority of the population is unemployed. Employable but unfortunately are unemployed. Being paid to do what you love is definitely a blessing. Like working on your passion and making money while at it is amazing. Done ✅

  • @muthonimuchiri4569

    Privileges has to include the context where the is an opportunity for no choice- it is just available to you. Generational Wealth is a privilege, but wealth is not a privilege ie being born into a wealthy family is out of your control but working hard for your wealth is in your control.

    • @kandisphere8828
      @kandisphere8828 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      How about you were able to build wealth of your own due to the schools you attended, or scholarships you got, or networks someone introduced you to that opened other doors? Isn't that also partly privileged and partly hard work? I think the lines are blurred when it comes to self-built wealth.

    To me having a job is a privilege. Much as oblivion (for lack of a better word) would have some people thinking "But that's what is expected of you" not everyone has that. With it, you don't have to worry about your basic needs. Now the type of job one does, I think is a blessing.

    • @cikanyoro
      @cikanyoro 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have a disability not an obvious one but one that has a major impact on my life don't think that others are more privileged than me based on my body

    • @kandisphere8828
      @kandisphere8828 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @cikanyoro She did not say that others are more privileged than you. Jeez! She just said it is a blessing to have to not have a disability, because it is not obvious and it is not everyone who has the ability to use all the parts of their body, or to even function. You seem to take this very personally, yet you forget that there are people who have special needs like being quadriplegic, who don't have it easy. I'm glad that your disability does not deter you to function. Learn to understand other people's comments without a negative attitude.

    I think what we see as privilege is based on what we have and what we don't. For example, I'm a person who stammers and I see speech fluency as a privilege. A person who speaks normally wouldn't see that as a privilege.

    9/10 Men don't take parenting seriously, we have soooooooo many "present absent" fathers hence a lot of women feel privileged to have supportive fully present partners, more especially if they are not together. it's rare and unusual therefore a privilege.

    Privilege is a special right or advantage you enjoy that most people don't have . there's a number of categories where privilege hails from ie. class be it social or economical, education, ability ,racial, gender etc.in the aspect of education, a person with a masers degree is more likely to have access to high paying jobs , managerial positions as opposed to someone with an undergrad. the privilege here are the benefits that come along with the masters degree.

  • @evamburu7797
    @evamburu7797 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hey Lyd and Murugu😊...do think privilege is being able to have that which is we can't have control over yet in perfect state e.g health....you could take care so much about your body but sustain an injury or get in an accident the next day and leaves you crippled for rest of your life, or experience a low moment ends up depressed then one disease to another....or life itself you can live a careless life but live your longest while a really nice person goes to bed and never wakes up......can be an orphan and never experience any moment of lack or sadness while a kid with complete family experience exactly the opposite etc...."May be privileged is being followed by positivity and good fate"

    Ladies, you look smashing. The glow in the melanin is poppin🥰🥰🥰. Beautiful healthy skin🥰🥰🥰. About unemployment rate in Kenya, please take the cue that not knowing that many people are unemployed means that you girls are blind to the reality of the majority of Nairobians. Just take interest in people who are outside that fancy middle-class Nairobi life, and have a meal or a drink with them. Spend real time in Kayole, not a visit, but real time in umoja etc. Once you allow yourself the courage to see the plight of your fellow Nairobians, something inside of you will switch on for the reality that surrounds you. Love and peace 🥰

    Wealth cant be a privilege because anyone can work towards it. But the opportunities/access to getting the wealth is the privilege that not everybody has.

    So you don’t care anymore, like surely now we have to actually sit with our relatives throughout not just Christmas but New Year and listen to them( crying already
    Just be prepared when you come back coz we will be here but we will be alcoholics and mentally tired of being present for our relatives shenanigans.
    On a serious note you will be so so so missed. Love and light

    We can summarise that , where an unfavourable alternative exists is privilege. Having a loving supportive mum is a privilege just as it is with fathers. Wealth has never been about paper and coin only. Health is wealth, time is wealth, family is wealth, kids are wealth, etc. Anything where there is an existing unfavourable alternative is privilege. Also most privilege isn’t necessarily deserved or earned,it is bestowed upon you. Because you believe you deserve something doesn’t negate it being a privilege because that will automatically mean disabled people don’t deserve the better alternative, poor people don’t deserve to be rich and so on. When you look at the big picture,everything we have and we are is truly a privilege and a blessing.

    Being employed in Kenya is a privilege Murugi,it's T for tough

    As a Kenyan who speaks fluent English, I once did a job presentation and my counter part who is a Rwandize did the same presentation. He did not manage secure the project yet I did. Not because he is not smart but because he could not converse fluently in English. In that point I felt very privileged that I can actually speak fluent English. But if it was a presentation in France, chances are he would get it, because he is fluent in french yet am not. So sometimes the word PRIVILEGE can vary from one set up to the other.

      I don't think that can count as privilege because privilege is something you have no control over. If one works at it, they can change the fluency in which they speak a language.
