Excellent comprehensive video of a complete compact kit! I'll be ordering one, or more, of the Maxpedition pouches and will use your link when I do so. Thanks for the time and effort you and Outdoor Momma put into this video.
Very well done and well thought out. In these videos, it is hard to truly criticize (I mean, you can) because these are items that are perceived to be needed by the individual. Plus, you have to consider need, distance, weather, transport methods, etc. So, I watch each to get ideas and not to shred the creator. In short, well done!
i just recived my Maxpedition beefy organizer that i bought after watching your video, thanks for the inspiration for a good survival kit that i will have with all my other gear
Something I include in all my kits is a tampon. Water filtration, medical gauze (it's sterile), fire tinder, and... well... a tampon. If it's in a plastic wrapper, it's also water proof. Just an idea.
Very impressive, and as you say, it is comprehensive as far as you could get it for the amount of space you had available in your Maxpedition EDC Pouch. One thing that I would suggest for a kit that would go along with it, rather than in it, would be a firearm and a couple of spare magazines.
Luigi Long That isnt bad but suggestive between person to person... Pew pew must be a personal choice regarding “self defense” and typically a sidearm doesnt make the best “hunting” tool. However when looking at the “more complete version” of the rig.. A Knife, Firearm, Bow, Slingshot for hunting, etc is pretty interchangeable person to person and all are overall are useful
dude, liked the video. I really like your channel. I've been prepping for about 6 months now, slow process. you have always got methods to your gear choices. welldown. I'm gonna keep watching. you give me so many good options and reasons why. thanks.
Can I just add, I have been hyper critical of certain subscription boxes/ reviews in the past....however?.....every view/ like/ unlike generates interest and benefits the person/ persons doing the actual item review. Keep it up...I will still watch them!.
You will never ever ever.. make everyone happy. Someone will see a billionaire giveaway millions and they will trash talk.. or they will see a man teleport and say "He still doesn't have a car". lol
@DropForgedSurvival I suggest the sawyer water filtration system, it's a little bigger than the life straw but it's $25 and lasts for a lifetime, if u could fit it in, in my opinion it's a better option
Nice kit! I doubt you could get a 55 drum liner in there for extra shelter or a bandana, but you might be able to fit: some cash, 1 or more extra bags for water (even one those grocery meat and veggie bags folded up is about the size of a couple cash bills and carries about a gallon of water... water is really important and since you don't have a container, I think an extra one would be good at minimum), and a couple extra water tabs (again, since you won't be able to boil much water and travel with it easily), a couple twist ties or rubber bands or etc (to tie bags to trees to collect dew water), some full zip ties (you can pull a bit of the bag apart at the edge seams and slip zip ties in there and they will go around the edging on the inside... maybe mezillch has a video about that? but yeah, it was a neat hack that I enjoyed), more foil & maybe some floral wire to make a sturdy hanging cup... to make space for some of this you could easily lose the second pen and just carry a fisher insert for if the other runs out and you don't need the spring assist or you could easily put a resque me (spring assist glass breaker & seat belt cutter keychain) on the zipper pulls with the bracelet if you are keeping it in your car. You could also put some gorilla tape on your lighter or some hemp wick. You could slip in a bit of thread & needles etc (your one kit you didn't show in this video might have this already... and a compass even). I just like the 10 C's as much as possible in survival kits ;) Anyway, it is a really good kit and no matter what people would have ideas of things to add. I think this does a great job to pack a lot of practical quality gear into a small space. Great job ;)
Love all of your gear videos, so helpful. No-one can go wrong with all this helpful gear, and tips on how to use the items. Than you Drop Forged Survival!!
Nice kit and a good video. My only comment is I would prefer to have these items in a water bottle kit. The maxpedition fatty is a nice pouch but using a bottle holder gives you some additional options.
Go wax paper and a paint pen for wilderness. Paint pen, when dry, won't ruin (I would test that on wax paper) and any message you leave behind is certain not to get wiped out by the rain
As contrary to tiny's post, the calories burned to wind a flashlight are so close to the calories you burn just being alive that it doesn't matter , however most kit builders on you tube are only interested in the cool stuff like knives and guns. Other things you'll see are usually the exact same and have no real thought or customization to that specific person as they are an after thought.
I'd condense some of the fire starting items to save room for other necessities. Seems to be way too many fire starters. I always have a Wazoo adventure bracelet on which would reduce some of the stuff in my kit. I do like many things in it and was wondering if anyone could get the special foil you use?
I like your videos, but I'd emphasize other stuff in an EDC kit. Carry battery/charger for your cell phone. Carry something to keep you drier, and warmer..like a shell jacket, and hat, and maybe gloves. Carry a real water container. That's the stuff to carry long before packing a fishing kit and blade sharpener. I do like watching your videos. I hope this was constructive criticism, and not crabbiness on my part.
Curious..what kind of situational activities are you engaged in..hunting, camping, solo bugging out....Thanks for video and item presentation, the list is an awesome bonus!
What is the trick to boil water in a bag and are you using the 4 mil thick water bags from Nas-co do you just wave it over the flames ??? and or put only a certain amount of water in it ??? Thanks
DropForgedSurvival I like the way you got it all to fit. I have a fatty and stopped making it into a survival pouch but watching your video think I'm gonna follow yours
Great kit. I like the mixture of items useful in urban, suburban, and rural areas. Great redundancies for other kits or last ditch stand alone kit. Have u ever done reviews on portable solar panels, small usb battery chargers, or nutrition supplements for bug out bag (electrolytes, caffeine, protein, etc.)? Anyway, just a thought for future videos
You might consider a 55 gallon garbage bag that ca serve as shelter and one or two oven bake plastic bags that can store water. Last a few zip ties or leather show laces,
Old Fart My Insulated Jacket can serve as a Tarp/ Shelter as well as my Emergency Blanket. This is meant as a barebones kits. 55 gallon bag wouldn't fit. I also have a bag for water
Impressive, Chris! The pack itself looks to be very well-made and what you have chosen to put into it makes it very valuable in terms of the amount/type of gear packed together in a small 'footprint'. You could stash something like thing pretty much anywhere. I took a quick look at some of the comments, and there were some good suggestions. That being said, people must realize that such a kit must be tailored to the individual/family that will be using the kit. For example, a person with diabetes would most definitely have what is needed in their kit to manage that, since not having those things would be life threatening to them. Excellent video, Chris. Keep up the good work. On a completely different topic: would you mind fielding some questions on knife repair, mainly on minor damage to some serrations? Since you use a number of social media, what is the best way to get my questions to you, so it does not get lost in the "noise" so to speak?
I call this an I.C.E. pack (in case of emergency). I keep a similar one near me at all times, supplemental to my EDC items as well. Will I open it up and use it everyday? No. But that's why it's an ICE pack.
I made up one like that for a smaller pouch. Concept is excellent, but the knockoff pouch is falling apart. Time to get a Maxpedition. Anyway, let's see if we can stuff some more into yours! I put a Milsurp Triangle Bandage which is still sealed into the Web Pocket on the Front. Hate having to deal with Big Bleeds with a T-Shirt. On the inside, I put a key chain flashlight on one of the inside tabs, just in case I'm looking for something in there after dark. I hate having to hold a Light in my mouth. Put a few Zip Ties in one of the back pockets. Finally, I put a couple of Cheap Bandanas right on top of everything because, well Bandannas! Really won't take up much room, and it's all cheap insurance. Hope this helps.
Great video as usual. Would love to make a similar pack. Honestly do you have an idea of current value, let say if i get everything or almost everything from amazon.
Not 100% sure.. I know its well over $200. $35 for the Micro Survival Kit, $25 for the Fatty, $25 for the Nanospark, $26 for the Pocketbushman, $30 for each Tactical and EDC Pen, $35 for the Leatherman.
wow.... you ever see or read or hear about something that makes things 'click' & puts that light bulb on above your head? I've tried to put things like this together (not this well done, of course, but I try) a few times but if I add enough items to make it truly useful it's too big to carry around everyday. I feel like such an idiot now but for some reason it never occurred to me to keep it in my glovebox until I just heard you mention it. I'm never very far from the Jeep & I carry enough on me so the glovebox or console or whatever would be perfect. Thanks man. Oh hey also if you get a second would you be able to mention where that little leather pouch on the front of Outdoor Momma's belt in the intro bit came from please? I'm always looking for small-ish to medium leather pouches to help seperate different types or gear & kits for the inside of my main rucksack. My own broken paws can't make things like that so thats outta the question. Thanks.
Brad Gremba A friend gave me that Foraging Pouch. Try CampCraft Outdoors. I spent a lot of time and planning to build this kit and worked with my entire about how to make this kit highly mobile yet effective
We all appreciate the effort that you always put in, thanks man. Also, I looked at that CampCraft site and thats EXACTLY the type of bags & pouches I was thinking of, thanks so much! I owe ya one.
Way too many fire starters.... Take 2 not 20. I always recommend a 2 bandanas and a dollar store rain poncho. Not sure what the medic kit has, but I would always include Ibuprofen, benadryl, and Imodium pills, 5 alcohol wipes, 10 1" bandages, a triple antibiotic cream. An emergency blanket would be good too. I always recommend a hatchet. Instead of the toilet kit I would get a pouch of baby wipes as they can be used for many things. For a larger kit with food, do not buy the pills or the MREs, just get beef jerky packs (or pepperoni sticks), tuna pouches, crackers snack packs, granola bars, dried fruit and nuts packs, instant oatmeal, cup of soup, some drink mix packs (or tea/coffee bags), some gum and a chocolate bar and put this in a ziplock for each day. Put say 5-10 of these packs and a jerry can in a bag with a metal water bottle. I usually also recommend some gloves, a knit hat, a pair of socks and underwear, some soap, and something to make a shelter out of (thin tarp). The paracord and snare line is good as well as some hooks, line, and pinch sinkers. I also would include a Kel-Tec PMR30 and 3 clips of 30 .22 magnum hollow points... small, light, not bad for hunting small game and defense if needed, and it is very small and light.
Thanks for chiming in Todd. I build kits that work for me. I find gaps and holes I want to fill and include I find necessary for me. This kit will not work "as is" for everyone. Thanks for sharing what you might put in your own kit. Great to hear differing Opinions.
Yup. I actually got inspired by all of these survival kit video and am making my own. I got the generic stuff. I think for a kit about the same as this I can include things to just make your life better. I'm shooting more for a backpack kit with food, but taking out the food, camping pans, water bottle, and hatchet and I have a kit about that size, but I think I have all the basics covered well... medical, fire, food collection, water safety, shelter, light, and knife. I am waiting for some stuff in the mail to finish the kit. For some reason the local store did not have emergency blankets. I just see too many kits that include 20 fire starters, a full triage kit and mountain climbing gear, a ninja cutlery selection, and enough flash lights to light up a runway... but do not include toilet paper, an extra pair of socks and underwear, diarrhea pills, bandanas, and a rain poncho. I also recommend 5 days food. No matter how resourceful you are you usually need to travel to a safer spot with food and water available and supplies to make a more permanent shelter. Many also tend to have lots of bulky, heavy, and expensive storage containers. I went for cheap and simple. In mine everything including the food and hatched and bottle of water would fit in a typical school backpack and weigh about 20 pounds.
You haven't left any space for your travel guitar! It has many uses - strings for making snares. body for tinder/fuel and from the the neck (plus a ranger band) you could make a sling shot. Seriously though, you've put together a good kit perhaps for your environment. Some items I would find useful and some I wouldn't. However you have given folk something to think about when putting togethera kit for the first time. Nice.
Maxpedition makes some solid gear. That is a well thought out kit. For a 5-7 day kit I would add a few more shit kits. Better than grabbing the wrong leaf at night. Scott
Excellent comprehensive video of a complete compact kit! I'll be ordering one, or more, of the Maxpedition pouches and will use your link when I do so. Thanks for the time and effort you and Outdoor Momma put into this video.
Fred B. Thanks for watching and finding my kit helpful
best most awesome compact kit ive ever seen killer job. the ammount of useable stuff you shoehorned in there is crazy!!!!
It was level legendary of tetris I tell you!
Love how you gilded the lily on this kit. Really gave lots of good ideas to draw from.
Very well done and well thought out. In these videos, it is hard to truly criticize (I mean, you can) because these are items that are perceived to be needed by the individual. i just recived my Maxpedition beefy organizer that i bought after watching your video, thanks for the inspiration for a good survival kit that i will have with all my other gear

He has updated this a few times.
Watch the updates as well.

I agree, very subjective. However, I thought I would mention it.
One of the best kits I've ever seen. Thank you for the info.
Thanks alot

That was a great looking kit. Well rounded
I agree impressive to fit all that stuff in that bag. Love the videos.
I was definitely playing tetris. lol
Love all of your gear videos, so helpful. No-one can go wrong with all this helpful gear, and tips on how to use the items. Than you Drop Forged Survival!!
Magdalene Becerra Thanks!
instead of all the firestarting stuff why not use magnesium bar flint combo?
Great kit. I have a wire snare kit, a clip on pair of leather gloves and a few more basic tools in mine.
Awesome kit, Chris, thanks man! Going to have to start working on something like it myself. Hope you and your family are doing well!
Nice kit and a good video. My only comment is I would prefer to have these items in a water bottle kit. The maxpedition fatty is a nice pouch but using a bottle holder gives you some additional options.
K Zorro F I have already made a Canteen however this is an EDC KIT with Survival Items in it.
Go wax paper and a paint pen for wilderness. Paint pen, when dry, won't ruin (I would test that on wax paper) and any message you leave behind is certain not to get wiped out by the rain
Nice Tips!!!
Nice kit. You won’t be stuck for fire that’s for sure.
Nice kit. I look and dream. That stuff really adds up. Maybe by next year I can save up.
I would use a Fisher space pen. As it's good in extreme cold and will write In water.
Never a bad idea.
DropForgedSurvival plus they're fairly cheap.
I've had this pouch laying around. I think I'll make good use of it with some of your suggestions. Great video.
Thanks Dirty Bird!
Awesome kit! Thanks for the shout out brother!
Go Prepared Survival You all make solid gear available to us as consumers. Thanks for keeping it in the US
This is a really impressive small kit. I'm going to have to build one for myself.
We have an update coming soon.... but thanks! It is a great kit overall.
I like the wind-up flashlights so you don't have to worry about batteries. Is there a reason never seem to see those in emergency kits?
If you're trying to survive, the calories it takes to keep a light wound is not worth it. For the space, a AA or AAA flashlight will do the same thing
Thank you! My search is over . well done man!
Nice survival kit! I really like that Mexpedition bag!
Thanks Alex.
Great video and kit. The only thing that I would add is a small bandana. Otherwise your kit is pretty dang complete. Thanks for sharing.
Jack G. Bandana or a shemagh is good to keep around regardless
can you link the blade tech clips for us, never heard of them before and maybe do a short vid on how you use them
They are in my video description as is everything I could find. Its a long long list not surprised your eyes hurt looking for it.
Some very nice ideas and pieces of kit good to share ideas then everyone can decide what's right for them 👍
Exactly! Thanks for chiming in!
I'd condense some of the fire starting items to save room for other necessities. Seems to be way too many fire starters. I always have a Wazoo adventure bracelet on which would reduce some of the stuff in my kit. I do like many things in it and was wondering if anyone could get the special foil you use?
Alec Shane Buy it from wazoo
Great kit. Love those firesteels in the background 😉😉
Gawt damn... how many ways do you need to start a fire? So much redundancy. How much does this kit weigh?!
Ultralight! Only like 9 to 10 KGs! Haha 😆
This is my 3 day kit got enough tinder and fire ability to make 300 fires.
Awesome kit man! I am definitely going to be getting some of these things to add to my get home bag.
Some great ideas. Thanks!
great kit. awesome gear. could not catch your words on the plastic bag to boil water and purifying tablets. Pls adv. Thanks mate!
You don't need 300 ways to start fire, some storm matches, bic lighter and a decent ferro rod is all you need
You don't need 3 ways to start fire, a decent ferro rod is all you need
Speargun line is some good, Strong, thin, light line as well. You can get around 1000 feet of it on the zon for 150ish. That would last you forever.
Really like this kit I keep watching it over again lol
that's quite a kit there Chris.
We need a update video on this kit. It looked different in your June EDC 2018 video
Yes it did. Very different.
I do have jacket I keep in my bag.. this is more like a grab and go glove box type kit.
Keep in mind that the sharpener is not just a sharpener. It is a multi use piece of kit. Like a fire starter...
should have called it "206 things to start a fire" lol
Curious..what kind of situational activities are you engaged in..hunting, camping, solo bugging out....Thanks for video and item presentation, the list is an awesome bonus!
Luis Arellano Thanks. Means a lot
Very nice kit. What is the weight?
As i stated in the video..
What is the trick to boil water in a bag and are you using the 4 mil thick water bags from Nas-co do you just wave it over the flames ??? and or put only a certain amount of water in it ??? Thanks
Use the heat of the embers coals.. not a flame..
Thanks boss I found those bags and ordered some - thanks for all the links
Just received some 4 mil thick bags in the mail today whoo hooo - Quite Stressful for your family during this time - so sorry - the hurricane
Bad ass kit for sure 👍🏼
andrew cordero Thanks Andrew. It's over a year in the Making. Well the different idea to make them all fit anyway
DropForgedSurvival I like the way you got it all to fit. I have a fatty and stopped making it into a survival pouch but watching your video think I'm gonna follow yours
andrew cordero It took a lot of time playing survival gear Tetris. But it all eventually fit nicely
DropForgedSurvival lol yes it did very nicely
Also I didn't see the link for the titanium stove, please provide. Thanks
The FireAnt Stove is in there... Possibly missed it?
Add a couple of $20 bills. Can be used to get food, or more importantly, to get you home.
Not a bad idea at all for an additional stash.
Best idea yet.
Nice looking kit!!!
Micheal Domayer Thanks a lot Mike
Anyway, just a thought for future videos
what are the fire starting capsules called? I didn't see them listed.
They're magnesium capsules I think
Fire Assist Capsules. I linked them in the video description
No navigation, terrible knife, overkill on fire. But you have heart..have you ever been camping just with that kit? That's when you know it works.
Thanks alot and I agree. Every kit will be and needs to be tailored to each person.
what would you charge to get this kit assembled and shipped to someone? what would this cost?
Nice bit of kit
I can understand having 3 or 4 ways of starting a fire, this is a bit overkill on that score though. Its more like an EDC for an arsonist!
That intro was epic
Awesome kit. I did not see a link for that technora? Cordage
can you elaborate on the fat pack fire starters?
Sure.. They are watertight, Nano, uses antibotic ointment, starts up easily, and sold by WAZOO. They sell out very very very quickly
I call this an I.C.E. pack (in case of emergency). I keep a similar one near me at all times, supplemental to my EDC items as well. Will I open it up and use it everyday? No. But that's why it's an ICE pack.
Not a bad name for it at all!
Thanks dude! Love your channel!
How many fires do you plan on starting pyro
Depends.... Is there an Enemy Village?
@@DropForgedSurvival who are the girls their ass was great
Chris, I didn't see any water purification tablets in case you can't get a fire going and the filter fails. Were any in the waterproof survival kit?
That's a beast of a kit, nice job man
Thanks bud
@@DropForgedSurvival you're welcome, and thank you for the awesome content. You've given me so many ideas for different kits that I wanna put together
Tourniquet? Israeli chest bandage? I have these in mine. Always room for these
Steve Hernandez Great Ideas and Additions!
You mention Fat pack fire starters in the vid - I can't seem to find the Amazon link for them. I want some!
Great kit, useful, good, compact
Thanks bud
Leslie Kovacs Only 4 brands I trust currently.. Maxpedition, Vanquest, 3V Gear, and 5starGear
This reminds me of The Office episode where Michael goes out and teaches how to survive. Ha.
Fishing stuff? Micro towel?
I have a fishing kit in my micro survival kit inside the back pouch.
Very nice. I wish I could get one. I have some of the less expensive, smaller pieces, but on my budget I can't afford most of it.
I carry "Stall Mates" I get from Amazon. I'm not sure if they can be used as tinder. Great video, thanks!
I havent heard of these. Looks like ill need to google those.
Good video , what’s the pen brand?
Put in a few multi-vitamins and maybe a few 5 hour energy drinks?
Forgot the coffee pot...
Great vid.
awesome kit man!!!
StrangeWildernessSurvival Thanks
Exelent edc and also very viewers friendly comments and suggestions given all along videos.
You may want to do a review on the bug out roll by the canadian preper and give a honest opinion
alex piat I've looked into it. It is pretty expensive for my budget. But I might reach out
never mind i found the go prepared kits, but the other 2 items i mentioned id love to buy
Love your videos. You have great content.
Thanks alot Josh!
Bro it's a nice video .. need best medical kit review for survival ..
Shamim Ferdows We are working on it.
"Insultable Jacket"? "Why you no good f'ing piece of shit, useless, leaky, undersized piece of outerwear!" (Nice vid!)
lmao... for the days you have no good come back.. just put on the jacket! lol
I came down here to comment on that, LOL! I want an Insultable Jacket!
Do you like any of the Gerber multi tool's like the ones issued to the military the mp 600 or diesel version?
Diesel and Center Drive are solid. I own both. I didnt like the MP 600 much.
Where was the Leatherman from for $35?
Thanks DFS!
Jason Allen For sure! Thanks for watching
How long did it take you to put all that back in🤔

I don't see the video link to the Micro Altoids Fire starter kit. Is it on TH-cam?
Awesome video as always ! How much does the kit weigh?
2.3lbs
What thickness is the aluminum foil?
Where can it be purchased?
Yes it can be purchased. Usually called ultra foil
I am India and I like ur videos
Nice kit. Gave me some ideas.
Nice.
David Cooper Food for thought and mentally stimulating kits are important. If it provides helpful ideas! That is great!
where can i buy the glow in the dark patch, and the fishing kit , and the lil zippo item?
its not in your links
James Singletary I linked most of everything. But google is still helpful
Maxpedition makes some solid gear. That is a well thought out kit. For a 5-7 day kit I would add a few more shit kits. Better than grabbing the wrong leaf at night.

Very awesome I like it
