Subwoofer efficiency = everything!!!!!! Nice to see a good number put-up without 200 pound subs and enough amplifier power to feed a city!!!! Love kickin it old school!!!!
Back in the day (mid 90’s) I watched a guy from Lufkin Texas take that amp, and two kicker comp 10’s in a transmission box hit a 156 at a crank it up in Baytown Texas. The records etched in the windows of his truck showed a 158. That was cool to see
I had an older Kicker ZX "cheater" amp that would pull crazy clean sql and loud spl for what it was, but it was AB and ate a lot of power. Then JL Audio released their very first monoblock Class D amp and I bought one of the first ones, and it walked away from the Kicker. Never went back to Kicker after that even though they were both great amps. In retrospect I wish I still had both of them.
Man that is so cool 😎. My buddy has 2 or 3 old Rockford Fosgate punch amps that look similar to that kicker. One of them doesn't work at all but I think the other two do. It's been a LONG time since we hooked them up. Old-school stereo for the win 🤘
DUDE!!! you hit a 117 at 10hz with that door slam!! LOL Awesome vid as always big D, hey you and Parker and myself all have Toyotas, time to do some challenges and comparison.
No one ever lost the SPL gear they use. I've been trying to decide on one but can't get opinions if they not listed. More so now that there is 2 in this video. Merry Christmas D....
I believe it. With 2 Phoenix gold sx 12s I hit 144.3 on dash sealed feeding 373rms to the pair in a prefab ported box tuned to 40hz. If I could share a photo I would. It was metered and clamped with a term lab
I did a 147.8 on music at a show a few weeks ago but it took a bit under 3k watts lol so again yo, with 228 watts that really, truly is incredible. I live kinda close to facekicker and he's doing a dyno of my beloved T-1500. I have abused and heavily used that amp for over a year so I'm stoked to see what it's putting out. Hopefully they're still being built well like that kicker amp!
Hello, I was wondering what the consensus is on how this quad box sounds on daily driver music? More in the lines of 70's through 2000's Rock Music? Test tones and various amp configurations are one thing, but how does it sound daily? I enjoy grooving to the tones of a bass guitar while a double kick drum is kicking and not just digital 808 generated tones, etc. I know this can vary widely based on what amplifier is powering it and the overall load that each vehicle can cover. By chance let's say the box will receive at least 1,200 watts per side at 14.5V. (2,400 watts total on two each way old 20 yr old amplifiers w/ 370 amp alternator upgrade) Any real world daily driver / reviewers out there?
@@wal2 my closest neighbor is about 1/4 mile, next closest is over half mile. I live on 13 acres in the middle of no where, and so far nobody has said anything 🤞if I was in a neighborhood I wouldn’t be playing anything that loud just out of respect.
I been experimenting for the last couple of months I have one 15 psi platform 4 beefed up to 3500 rms the subwoofer box is made out of maple and it's 5.30 cubic feet tuned at 32hertz then I have two sundown xv3 12s tuned to 32hertz in a mdf box 5.75 cubic feet? Then I have two massive xlr 12s in a birch box 4.46 cubic feet also tuned at 32 hertz? I have a 99Towncar so it's quite a bit of room in my trunk?Well overall the psi out performs the other set of twelve and it has less power than them just because you have a lot of power doesn't mean you are going to get more bass response?
262 watts out of a 25 year old 50 watt kicker amp, not to bad. I grew up in the 90's and remember how hard me and my friends systems hit and only had 500 to 1500 watt setups. We all had JL subs and Rockford amps and those 1st gen version 1 JL subs were amazing. The output was insane for the small amount of power they needed. JL's original version 1 subs were the best sounding subs ever made in my opinion. I would love to get my hands on some 10, 12, 15, 18 inch W3's or W6's. I wonder if there's any subs today that sound just like those old school JL's, if there is any subs like them, can someone let me know what they are?
Sundown SA series are very comparable to the old school JL W6’s and people are gonna hate me for saying this, but the Rockville K9 subs are as well. And the 12” is only $120
Way to go on meeting your goal. I seriously had no idea that the L7R was equivalent to the previous L5. It makes me wonder what the other variants compare to. I have a variety of L7s on hand.
Awesome content Big Dee, how does this Amp / Sub box combo with the 262-268 watts translate to music output. Would it be loud enough or underpowered output?
I gave my son this same amp he beats 2 scar 10" subs sounds good back in the 90s it was running 4 15" cheap Rockford in a s10 pickup ext cab hit 143 at a stereo comp.

That is cool! I found it interesting that the test you did aligns with the math. 228 watts = 140dB By the math it takes 10 times the power (watts) to double the SPL (10 dB increase). So 2,280 watts to do 150 dB, which is in the ballpark of the testing you did with a much larger amp.
I just did 3 Savard hi-q 12 d2 wired to 1.33 on a DB 4900.1. 5.93 ported. Tuned to 33.5hz. In a 2015 expedition. Xs power d6500. Stock alternator. Big 3. All sky high 1/0. Any way did a 146.7 at 37hz in the passenger kick. 147.5 in windshield at 40 hz. Because of the low tuning I’m still getting 145 dB at 30hz. I had some problems with the Savard subs putting about 3000 watts to each one, voicecoils shattered, not thermal, shattered, but if you keep it down in the 1500 range they are very good subs for the money.
Why did the meter that showed on your iphone/pod show such a high resting spl before you started the tone? 82db resting noise floor? What am I missing? Anyway, another cool video. I love seeing low power rigs.

Excellent!! Can’t wait to see what some of these more powerful “50 watt” amps do...

I've been thinking one of these on an old Orion 225 HCCA would pound pretty good too. 🤔
I hope to provide a 51-100 watt run with my 50m’s strapped for everyone’s entertainment. Stay “tuned”
