He wouldn't have died if he had not ordered his men to embark on the LAATs (which were open targets to fighters) and also had he ordered his men inside the main ship to get off they could have won that fight right there they had enough firepower to take out the gunsships they had rockets

Even if they did, the few men they did have most likely wouldn’t have bought more than a few minutes. The vulture droids and their bomber counterparts had complete air superiority, and seemingly the only reason why the clones on the platform weren’t strafed or bombed indiscriminately was because they were focused on the LAAT’s.
@PredatorGamingTR They needed to get off the landing pad, so having his men get on the ships was the best order at the time. The Hyena Bombers came out of nowhere and didn't give Thorn enough time to get his men off the frigate. There was no way that they were going to survive unless they retreated inside, which would have resulted in letting the Seperatists amass a small army on the landing pad to take the building. Thorn made the best decisions he could given the circumstances.
They wrote Thorn so well, he was in a single episode but we all love him, not only did he competently warn the senator, but he also tried to get his men to a less expose spot, when this failed he targeted the fighters, the biggest threat, before having the most badass last stand ever.
What confuses me is they knew the droids were coming long enough to start giving orders to the reserves and give an emergency call to the senator but none of them stopped to thing ‘huh this transport ship is parked out in the open and we detected bombers and gunships maybe we should leave the ship/take off to not be a sitting duck’
But as a side note, Thorn treated everyone equally. He didn’t discriminate by race, or by droid or human. All were treated well. He will not stop until his final mission is achieved
I always thought of the rocket launchers the clones use as being akin to Javelin missiles in real life. There are scenes of them appearing to curve as if they have some basic guidance capability, but are primarily anti-armor and anti-ground weapons that happen to be able to target low flying starfighters in a pinch. IRL, Javelins are primarily anti-tank missiles, with some basic guidance systems to improve their effective range. While they are designed for use against ground targets, they are also capable of locking onto low flying aircraft such as helicopters. Javelins seem to be the closest counterpart to the rocket launchers the clone troopers use.
@@Kitkat-986 javelins in real life are so heavy my friend. These look light, something like a LAW weapon system. Carrying a Javalin around with armor and a full combat load out seems almost impossible. I wish modern US Military had the bad ass weaponry if the clones
Ya. I think the biggest reason is because most jedi fights end with a draw/jedi victory because of plot armor while most of the clones, besides a few like Cody or Gree, aren’t safe from such plot armor.
I love Commander Thorn's last stand. It was just so cool because he didn't know the republic he didn't grow up in it. He had no family in the Republic on one of the core words. He had no reason to fight so hard apart from he was born to defend it. He gave 110% effort for simply because he was made to be a soldier.
There's something almost relieving knowing the Clones that died before order 66 died as heroes. They died for a cause they believed was worth fighting for.
I remember the scene where a droid shooting a rocket at the clones. Not only a clone trooper dodged it, but he also quickly gave cooridantes of the rocket to AT-TE gunner who shot it mid air..what a badass
I love seeing clones dying like this, they dont have to betray the jedi and question every ideal they ever stood for, instead die like men for the cause they believed in.
Honestly that fight is so dense with detail it's almost hard to follow it all. Every time I rewatch it I something else awesome. It's scenes like this that just show the insane talent of the animators and other people behind the show.
I just love how this scene shows how Anakin and Rex are so in tune with one another that they effortly do a duel take down on one of the commando droids like they have done it a thousand times - 4:09
The Coruscant guard scene is by FAR my favorite moment in the entirety of the clone wars because those clones really did try to save Padme with all their heart and you can hear Thorn realize he wouldn't be able to protect the one person he was tasked to protect when he called her.
Man you know how much they cared for 99 when they where willing to actually push the droids head on hard to try and take there attention off of them man it was sad watching him die like that.
I just find it funny how Fives, echo and the rest are like "hmmm if only there's a place where we keep ALL of our weapons" and 99 is just like "THE ARMORY" then everyone else is just standing there in awe like "GREAT SCOTT 99 YOU'RE A GENIUS".

Honestly that tactical retreat by the clones starting around 6:25 is so good. They always have at least 3 or 4 blasters covering the next clone's retreat, as well as being in a choke point. Droids just mindlessly advance and fire, clones show that they can be tactical without anyone ordering them around
99 was a real trooper. He might've not been able to fight, but he had the mentality of a soldier. Goes to show that while he might've been disabled, he wasn't a liability. Without him, many would've died.

I feel bad for thorn like being surrounded like that watching his men die then being brutally murdered knowing he’s not gonna make it out and at this point trying to keep the droids occupied to let Padme escape.. poor trooper
