It definitely doesn’t make business sense, to exclude 50% of the market share. I think making do with women’s line items doesn’t cut it. If they did more would you buy?
Imagine how much more they would sell if you had a section to send your husband off to while you shopped?!?! Instead of trying to hurry because he’s board!
Chanel heritage is a Haute Couturier for women. It's not in line with the brand history to release mens items. Luxury houses use romanticism and history to sell their items.
I guess so, but you could say the same about Dior too as so were they. I guess modernizing your brand to appeal for today is always cool to. Then again Chanel have never modernized anything w
Maxi pad base to the bag. Classic Connor. I nearly spat my lunch out of my mouth when you said this. 🤣 I laughed so much. I love your explanation. I never liked the Gabrielle bag . It didn't tickle my fancy at all. Just fugly. You always brighten my day lovely Connor and to see you on Dayles video was the cherry on top for me today. You 2 are hilarious together. I love the friendship you have. It will last a life time. Much love. Jenni. XX
To be honest it wouldn’t be hard for them to make a classic flap bag in plain leather without any quilting, just put a heavier chain on it without the leather woven through, maybe make it a little more square-ish in shape & there you have a masculine classic flap. Same applies to pretty much all of their bags. Maybe they just figure the men who are into Chanel are happy to wear the bags they already make. A men’s version of a tweed jacket wouldn’t go astray either, all they’d have to do is slightly alter the cut to fit a man’s frame. That would suit all the women who like a more masculine look to their wardrobe too.
I agree that they're missing a huge chunk of the market. But I feel like Chanel is an ultra feminine (sometimes screams rich old lady) brand. And that's not to say that men can't wear really feminine pieces too, but I think a lot of men don't want that. Like I know plenty of men who would wear a LV trunk or bum bag, Dior saddle or a Fendi baguette. But they wouldn't wear a classic flap.
hey Connor, actually an interesting topic. Chanel is very money driven, so I am struggling to think of why they arent doing more capsule men's items; considering how quickly they sell out.
Chanel may be doing just what you said, appeal to and are purchased by those who can afford it. I don’t like masc/femme terms but I do wonder why they don’t have more streamline, modern and less fussy options. I understand what you mean. I will say here in the states tons of guys where Chanel bags, and they look great. I purchased a mini rectangle, I think due to the hype, and I’ve only worn it a handful of times in 3 years, I find it to fussy and dainty, I think the chain strap is what turns me off.
The Flap is hilarious. There is only one thing that I think of when I hear classic Flap lol. I find the range of Chanel so boring. In 50 years they will still have the same design. You should do a clip Chanel in 50 Years and still show the same bags and same boring styles.
You would need a particularly special creative genius to translate the Chanel old lady money aesthetic into modern men’s line. I just don’t think there is anyone creative enough floating around at the moment that would make them want to fully commit to opening the old money pockets that deep.
1:04 Now, you should, in a proper youtuber manner do a 20,000$ luxury haul video showcasing those bags 😆 Only those would have returned them to the store after. But seriously, with a plot twist showing the bags and their condition! PS Love your aussie humor!

Can’t say I wouldn’t buy something I haven’t seen now can I? 😂😂
Great points! And I really enjoyed the closet clean out with Dayle 😂
Thank you lovely xx

Oh 100% agree!!! Their bags / clothes don’t really walk the gender fluid line, they’re ultra feminine country club mature lady haha

Yeah it’s very off brand for them!!! Maybe they have something coming?
I think they think their bags are cream of the crop and anyone should be happy to wear them.
Yeah I agree

Yeah that’s a good point. I find it the same too!! Very dainty
Yes! I would love to see a proper men's line. Send them some ideas Connor! (for a price of course 😉)
Hahahahaha I don’t think they’re up for offers 😂
Maybe if they did the Gabrielle bag on a larger size with thick leather strap, that would be a more 'masculine' look. :)
Yeah possibly! That base though 😖😖
18,000?! Wow!
Yep!!
@@THECLOSETbyConnor it's so crazy!

😂😂 PLOT TWIST! Thank you so much x
Just a thought, but... Maybe the Wertheimer brothers do not like sisters...?
Who are they haha
@@THECLOSETbyConnor They own Chanel.
What lost opportunity---LV Mens is now bought by women. And who liked the Gabrielle? not even women.
Exactly!!! Couldn’t agree more
They make men's sneakers and made men's ties in the past, it doesn't make sense at all.
Maybe Chanel think that if their bags appeal to some famous androgynous KPop Celebrities - then it is now considered gender neutral. LOL
