In this video, I want to show you the multifaceted sides of Vietnam.
I visited this country for about two months and experienced many beautiful, but also some not-so-great moments.
In this video, I want to shed light on the darker and more authentic sides of Vietnam.
This is by no means meant as hate towards the country of my roots; rather, I want to show you that it was sometimes a challenge for me in Vietnam regarding hospitality and the general tone of interaction, especially because I speak some Vietnamese and can understand the people very well.
In my latest journey, I prepareed for my upcoming road trip through Vietnam. I rented a scooter, enjoy the obligatory Pho soup for breakfast, and tried to exchange money in the city center of Hanoi, where I was confronted with many direct and unfriendly insults because of my camera. This was also the reason for my choice of title. Furthermore I had a Vietnamese Coffee and a typical Banh Mi Sandwich

Well it's illegal to exchange money anywhere except the bank, so they dont want you and them self to get into any kind of trouble. That's why they are a bit rude, cuz they fear of disguise journalist
Yes, afterwards I understood. But in the moment it felt a little bit rude. Since I got insulted 3 times in a row. 😂
It is illegal to exchange money at gold shops and they can be fined. Officially it should be done at banks or money exchange shop only. No need to be offended since they can get in trouble.
You need to fill in forms to get exchange in bank and with limit amount. Its not pretty legal but not that serious. Many people is doing like him now.
@@ngoclinhpham1846 yes, it's a pain for customers but the owner doesn't want to be fined 10 to 20 million vnd with video evidence. Without the camera they would of been fine.

Wow the Pho looked so good and the story behind it is incredible, looks like that would be a nice, after long day of work, dinner meal. Im American so the Rude people wont even phase me lol, but it is still a shame when someone so respectful gets disrespected.

Bạn cầm Camera vô tiệm vàng để đổi tiền ( đó là điều bất hợp pháp ở Việt Nam) khác nào thu bằng chứng phạm pháp của tiệm vàng đó lên Internet . Nếu tiệm vàng đó đổi tiền cho ông thì ba mươi phút sau họ sẽ bị thanh tra. Chính bạn đã suýt mang phiền phức tới cho họ đấy. Cũng có thể họ sợ bạn là một cảnh sát chìm nên họ cự tuyệt rất dứt khoát thậm chí đuổi bạn đi.
