- A small screen tablet with great colors that is actually portable! Edit: Paint Tool SAI 2 is supposed to work with this tablet (I only have 1). The "oil" is from the glue on the back of the protector. It came back 24 hours after washing. At this point throw the protector out and order a new one. I recommend NuShield protectors.

THANK YOU! As a left handed artist, I was stuck for hours trying to fix it. This actually shows how to set the rotation up. Gaomon said to you had to either extend or project your monitor to correct it.

4 years later and this video is still useful. All of these instructions including the left handed option also work work the PD 1161. I couldn't find those instructions anywhere :). Thank You So Much!!!!!!!!

Received this from Amazon on 1/10/18. They improved the screen protector. It included only the two finger glove so the extra was a temporary "gift".

Awesome Review! My art and efficiency took a 30% leap upward when I switched to an 24inch XP-Pen Artist 24 Pro screen tablet. My brain just connects a lot better with the pen on screen vs pen on tabletop tablet, and the interface is a lot more intuitive for me. I'd not go less than 16", honestly--my main is 24" and though I've worked on a 16" too, I prefer larger. (Also worked on a 10" Surface Pro and that was...cramped, ha.) But yes, it's worth the upgrade!

Great review, and I like when you mention the huge parallax issue at startup. I had the same issue, but in my case, it was just a matter of changing the resolution and recalibrating.

I've been trying to get this tablet to work but I'm having some issues. I downloaded and installed the software, I gave the software administrative privileges but the screen doesn't respond to anything I do. I tried to calibrate the pen but the pen doesn't interact with the tablet. When the tablet asks to click the red dots the tablet doesn't recognize that I'm clicking the dots.
Have you tried to charge your pen for a moment? (Sorry if you already found the problem)

I bought last year a XP-Pen Artist 15.6 Pro drawing screen to start painting my draws in digital. it's really cool!

As a suggestion, perhaps for another screen tablet review you could try out the XP-Pen Artist model series? It's generally regarded as the highest quality Cintiq competitor at a good price (in particular the Artist 16) and I'm curious what you think about it! I personally really liked the Huion after your review, but with the size and also the shipping (living in the Netherlands, Asian brands don't ship to here easily and reliably) I ended up settling for the XP-Pen Artist 16 for my first screen tablet. I'm curious though, what is your main reason for putting the Gaomon lower than the Huion? Is it the size, angle color issue, or the SAI issue, or something else?
I was really happy with the Huion. Hope that XP-Pen Artist is doing well for you!
I put the Gaomon slightly lower because it was a little bit fussier than the Huion, i.e. the software crashed once for no reason and was hard to calibrate to work with my particular dual monitor setup AND the SAI issue. It's hard to decide because I really love shortcut buttons that the Gaomon had, but the Huion had a bigger area yet was really bad with colors! Tough choice.

Oh my god I got this tablet, had it for a bit less than a month, and returned it. First, I'm left handed, so I had to flip everything over, so the calibration was horrible. No amount of calibrating could save it, so the best it got was about a ONE CENTIMETER parallax! I got used to it, but it was annoying. Then, everything stopped working, including the hotkeys. I returned the tablet and got a Wacom Cintiq 16 with an ExpressKey remote instead, and I have no complaints! 👍
I recently got an XP-Pen Artist 16 and I had a similar problem in Extended Screens, but I couldn't get it to work no matter what. I contacted Xp-Pen's support and apparently it's a problem many tablet have with the last major release of Windows 10 (Fall Creators Update 1709), so it's not specific to any tablet brand in particular. I received some beta drivers and it works wonders now, not sure if you can get something similar.
Yeah, now that you mentioned it, after Windows 10 updated my Cintiq 27QHD is considered "bigger" than my monitor, so if I try to move my cursor between them it sometimes get stuck on the edge of the Cintiq.

Hey Crowne Prince. I am a huge fan. You have been teaching me and some of my friends a lot about animation. Rubber Hose Animation, Sakuga, 2D and 3D drawings, etc. By the way, can you do a Scribble Kibble showcase about Paw Patrol sometime? If it is alright for you. Because I think Paw Patrol is like the next big thing btw. Also I may be a 9th grade teenager but I soon, with the help of your tips, I might animate my first original series, "Saturnina The Ring Bearer". Anyways, keep up the good work! And I hope you can soon be more than a TH-camr, maybe a Disney animator, or editor, err something. XD

it might take a lot of time and money before I can start animating. Right now, I only have an old laptop, it keeps crashing, broken keyboards, defective mouse, and my parents can't afford a new laptop nor an art tablet at the moment, but thx to you, sooner or later, when I start animating, I'll still have your tips in mind as I animate.

The USB cord is REALLLY tight. You need to make sure its plugged in A LOT and that you can feel is get plugged in. Again, its super tight.

Can I use this in Photoshop to do photo adjustments, restoration....etc., just like using an ordinary mouse? All the videos I see on these tablets is about drawing. I'm not a graphic artist but a photographer. There are things that are just too cumbersome using a mouse.

I installed the driver but it keeps opening in Chinese. Do you know a way to change it to English? Maybe it's because I'm currently in China for work, so the website gave me a Chinese driver. You can actually find them on Gaomons page. If you look for thr device, there should be replacements for the cables, pen etc
so i just got this tablet and installed everything i needed, restarted and ran it as administrator, but when i open the app it says "device disconnect" and wont let me click on anything other than "close". any thoughts..?

I had the same problem the small plug that connects to your monitor is small and wobbles in the plug it. What i did to fix it is a gust it inside there and i worked fine. Don move the plugs around when you are setting up the tablet.
I had the exact same problem and it won’t work
I had an issue with the pen not connecting at all and I changed the tip made sure it was charged and uninstalled and installed the driver but nothing works idk what to do
First day I got it and I'm trying to set it up. I'm getting a no signal screen on the tablet and the driver software on the computer does not detect it . Is there anything I can try? (I did unistall previous tablet drivers, ejected and reinserted the cables)
Can you draw with the gaomon 1560 without it being attached to your computer or does it need to be attached while you use it

It has to he inserted into the computer. Most tablets need,to be plugged in. If you are looking for something that doesn't, look for a stand alone tablet (they are much more expensive)
Have you been using this tablet sense this review? I have been looking up these kind of tablets all day and it mostly just came to mind that I should find out how long these last. especially if I am going to be using it for a long time.
Depends, I have mine for nearly a year.. And it still works just as fine as when it arrived.

Where does the HDMI cord go I don’t see any video on such issue, I’m getting no good signal and I did everything in the book to make it work it works but it’s only being used as a drawing pad without the screen on please help someone would be appreciate it thank you I’m delayed in my projects
so for future reference the hdmi cable is fairly seperated from the usb right, i could for example, plug the usb in front and the hdmi in back, cuz my hdmi is in a slightly awkward place (custom pc) and my only open usb is on the front of the comp, their MIGHT be one on back but i can't tell at the moment so just wandering will the cables be able to connect from one end of the pc to another

I still remain in doubt between Gaomon PD1560 and Huion Gt-191.
Currently I use a Wacom One more for zbrush modeling (I could not adapt with drawing on this table, my dash looks horrible but I really like drawing too). Which would indicate?
I believe the huion doesnt have the shortcut keys on the side of the tablet but has a much larger screen. They have about the same,pressure sensitivity but the gaomon is,smaller in comparison, and has the shortcut keys. Hope this helps.
Hey just a quick question and honestly I probably sound dumb right now, I got a Gaomon PD1161 and I’ve been trying to hook it up to my pc. I’m struggling with getting a signal to work. I’ve connected all the cables but still nothing pops up. I’m thinking that most likely I need to connect the other hdmi cable into my monitor but since my monitor only has one, I can’t fit in this one so I plugged it into the back of my PC chassis system which does have another hdmi port available but doing so does nothing. I’m probably dumb and have no idea what I’m doing and it could be an easy fix but I’m still unsure
So this regardless, still needs connection to a pc/laptop to work?

HOw do i calibrate the pen, so when i first enter the gaomon program my pen does'nt work so i use my mouse to the calibrate settings but when i click the moniter calibration my pen works but when i'm done with the calibration my cursor jumps to the top left conor of my screen AND still does'nt work HELP plus i also use a mac so there are some things i can't find that relate to windows

Does anyone know why programs and tabs wont show up on the tablet but are on my monitor(if that makes sense)? I dont even have a cursor on the tablet, it's like its showing a completely different part of my computer screen. Not to mention that the cursor on my computer monitor doesnt line up with the tablet's
