Maaco Paint Job Review BMW E30 - You Get What You Pay For

  • I walk you through my cheap Maaco Paint Job on the BMW 318i E30. The paint job was a grand so was not expecting anything perfect but... It's a really quick review where I point out some orange peel and other small flaws. It's a decent job for the price but it comes with it's flaws and frustrations. Is it worth it? you to decide!
I hope this helps at least one person decide whether or not to go the cheap route when painting a car or to save the money towards a more custom / professional job.

Beautiful E30. Just a suggestion. Never use those brushes at the bay wash. They’re constantly dropped which then picks up debris and dirt from the ground and that’s guaranteed to scratch your fresh paint job. I recommend watching AMMO NYC or Pan The Organizer TH-cam channels for detailing tips.

Yup. Even if you spray that brush out before using it, it won't be enough. You are scrubbing the stones into the paint from all of the previous vehicles before you.

Looks pretty good overall. I just paid 2,300 for a Maaco paint job. It's over a week now so I'm sure it will come out really good considering the price but then again I have low expectations. Im just happy to get a paint job for my car.

Hey I rebuild cars and paint and detail all the time. Depending on how much clear coat they laid down. You could get rid of the orange peel with wet sanding starting with a 3000 grit trizact pad and finish with a 5000 grit trizact pad and polishing it out with the 3 step 3M compound. And them brushes at the car wash will put swirl marks in your paint. I hope that helps you. God Bless!!!

Did you just used the same broom for the wheels and new paint? This way you will scratch it pretty quickly. Anyway, you can get rid of orange peel with polishing. As no paint job is perfect, polishing should be always part of the process when getting new paint.

no offence but if you had a train eye for good paint jobs, I like to think you would also know using a self serve car wash brush is going to scratch up the paint esp after wiping your tires with the same brush you just then swipe over the paint job, wow it would be hard to tell anything about that maaco paint job after that car wash .. Listen, If you gotta use a self serve car wash, go late at night or early in the morning, take a bucket with a car wash MIT, fill it up at home with soap and water, have a bucket with the lid and one of those debris catcher plates in the bottom, spray the car down with the self serve pressure washer from the top down top down so your spraying the hardened road dirt downwards vs up or across your paint. once wet, soap it up with car self wash soap spray, then wash it with the MIT in the bucket of soapy car wash water and again, top to bottom, start at top again, top to bottom, I am not expert but look using a self serve car wash brush on your tires then the paint was crazy. I just was in shock watching you wash your new painted car with the same wash brush you just swipe over your dirty car tires with then lol your talking about a trained eye, dude you do not have a trained eye for anything but destruction. Now as for the Paint job, I think you got a good paint job, take care of that paint, stop using self serve cash wash brushes.

Although I don't condone the harsh criticism, car guys come in all shapes and sizes. Some New to it, some guys have been in it for a while. Nobody is perfect, I make sure my cars are mechanically sound before worrying about cosmetics. I got a 1963 Mercury and never intend it to be a show car. I have considered a MAACO paint job before. It's all about what your willing to spend. I'd rather do a 500 dollar paint job that I can keep taking back to get retouched at any given time. Rather than spend 15k. I liked the video brother, keep it up. Just try and use presoak and foam or soap next time. It's all good man! live and learn. Beautiful car and thanks for the insight. Your video doesn't make me NOT to want a MAACO paint job. For the price, not bad.

Most e30 this old rust away because the owners cant afford a professional paint job. Mine is bad too but over here in cermany there are no maaco like paint shops. Either you do it on your own or pay at least 2500+ dollars for a decent paint job. Because of that so many old cars rot away. Apart from that keeping it road legal is much more expensive.every two years you need to get it inspected by private institutions called "TÜV". They are strict as hell...

Stupid premise of your video based on what you did . If you did better prior prep then you’re 1,000 bucks would have been better spent and looked and lasted longer. Also if you sell the car you might get that -
