There is a radio station in Saint Louis that is playing Gloria 24 hours straight today. As I was in line at McDonald's to get coffee, there were five cars in line at the drive-thru and they were all blasting Gloria. We all started singing at the top of our lungs. It was awesome. Fun. When we won the cup, I was going to rally house to get the championship jersey and hat, but they didn't have the one I wanted which was the won they wore. We had to go to like 3 places for it. It could have been somewhere else that day but I remember getting the hat and shirt. I made my mom play Gloria when we were out doing stuff that day. I remember the radio person saying that his partner needed to pinch him since he couldn't believe that it was real life. I started pinching myself too for some reason.

A little story I heard on St. Louis sports radio after the Blues won the WCF. their is a St. Louis resistant that was in Vegas on business back in December. He put $100 down on the Blues to win the Cup at 100 to 1 odds. On St. Louis sports radio he said he has received numerous offers to buy the betting slip since they made it past round 2, the highest I believe was 55K before last night in which he was offered 75K for the slip before Game 7 started. He let it ride every time feeling he would jinx the team now if he sold it and now has made 100K along with his long suffering favorite team winning their 1st Stanley Cup in their 52 year history! Lets Go Blues!

The Blues have great looking unis. I like the Wings and all, but my dad liked the Leafs and hated the Wings and, especially Yzerman, so, I was kind of the same, but a I liked the Habs. It wasn’t until it was basically over that I realized just how good Yzerrman was. I Remember (I think this is all true, memories get twisted around sometimes) a game vs the Blues, must have been a game seven playoff, might have been a double overtime when Yzerman skated in and scored the winner. It was so great, because as I recall, he almost willed the goal, and what was extra impressive, his knee was all tore up so basically he was playing on one leg...That’s when I realized how truly great Yzerman was. But back to the Blues, I’m just still reallly happy they won. They’ve been good for so long, and they’re a classic original 12 team...I’m always pulling for them to come out of the West, and they finally did it.
As this series went on, and even heading into game 7, I (along with pretty much everyone else) figured out that if (insert team name here) loses this series it is probably because of (insert problem with team here). For St. Louis, the biggest reason why they could've lost this series is because their powerplay was garbage. 2 goals for on, what, 14-16 opportunities? It was good enough and it rarely looked dangerous. Thankfully, they were able to overcome that and win. As for Boston, they can pin this loss on a number of things. But the biggest, and probably most obvious reason, is because at 5 on 5, the Marchand-Bergeron-Pasternak line was ineffective. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they had 0 points while 5 on 5 throughout these 7 games (obviously they got points on when on the PP and PK). Which I kind of find funny because the Blues greatest strength was 5 on 5 whereas their PP and PK were not (the PK did get better after the first 3 games). But who really cares. PATRICK MAROON IS A STANLEY CUP CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for this team and their fans. Anytime a team wins their first cup, it's always something special because it is something they could very well experience for the only time in their lives. I don't hate Boston as much as the rest of you, but if a team has a chance to win their first, I'm always cheering for that team (unless they're playing my Oilers in which case, get back in line guys). And it's not like St. Louis has been garbage in their entirety. Until yesterday, they've actually been one of the more successful sports teams to not win a trophy. But at the end of the day, all that matters is winning said trophy. Left for dead in December, resurrected and ascended to the pinnacle of hockey, thanks to a new coach, a rookie goalie and people who believed in each other and never gave up. I'm so proud to see Bozak hoist the cup after all the years of pain he had to put up with in Toronto, it's surreal to see Tyler Bozak hoisting the Cup...I feel like the Leafs won the Cup cuz a part of him is still a leaf. Gunny and Steen, too! The Blues showed that winning a cup is not about ego and having the biggest names and biggest contracts. It's about the small things. 3rd and 4th liners doing their part, forechecking, hitting, blocking shots, buying into the system, and even though they are a big heavy bone crushing team, they won with a lot of little guys (names)....ROR finally getting the recognition he deserves. Cherry was always right about ROR from the beginning saying this guy was everything to a team...a true steal in the draft and I saw him play for all those years in Colorado and he was a beast offensive and defensive. St. Louis should have an amazing parade and I can't wait to watch it!
Binnington provided a schematic for what Freddie Andersen needs to do to beat in the Bruins in a game 7 should that matchup occur again sometime. Holy shit that was an unreal performance! Go Blues!

I took the day off work to watch this game at a crappy sports tavern in Melbourne, Australia at 10 in the morning, just so I could watch my Blues win it all for the first time ever. People in the tavern came by and asked me what the sport was, and why I was so invested. After the final siren, I was crying on the floor in there, and the staff was congratulating me on the victory, haha. This team made my Thursday morning one I'll never forget, for so many reasons. This is the reason I watch sports. I always knew that all the heartbreak will eventually be worth it, and this will happen for you too, Leafs fans. It's so surreal.

I really do feel like if there was a different goalie for blues, the score would've been different. Binnington saved the 1st third single handedly and gave the team confidence to sit back after the first one or two goals. Good season blues! Its an amazing story to come back from last in january and take the cup!!

I hadn’t even been born the last time the Blues were in the finals! I have literally been waiting my whole life as a Blues fan for this moment! And now...I find myself oscillating between absolutely 0 sympathy and total sympathy for teams with long cup droughts. I’m sure I’ll straighten it out before next season, but in the meantime...what a feeling to FINALLY have that monkey off our back!
Lack of celebration by the Blues on the bench was professionalism. Finish the job, don't head for the bench with 10 seconds left. No fear at that point of the Bruins scoring but not letting down and giving them that opportunity.
I’m a die hard Leafs fan, and for me it does feel really good to see Bozak raise the cup! And a fun fact, I just realized that there is like 13 players on the Blues that are Canadian. So I guess the cup will be spending the majority of the summer in Canada! Hopefully I’ll see it when Joel Edmundson brings it back to Brandon.

Seeing this everywhere.. I'm happy for both, Bozak got placed on a line he belonged and Kessel got to play on a stacked forward unit that actually had defense, not great defense but capable for the time. Cheers to Gunnarsson and Steen as well. One day, the Leafs will hoist the cup and we can make comments about how players from former teams signed on with the Leafs at the right time. I just hope I'm alive to see it happen.
Always quality mate - next best thing to lifting the Stanley Cup for St Louis is the fact they’ve just (and hockey has) picked up a whole new set of fans who won’t be going away anytime soon. So good.

I was really getting worried in the 1st period of Game 7... we didn't have our legs yet and if Binnington didn't stand and deliver the way he did, we would have gotten slaughtered. I took the day off work to watch this game at a crappy sports tavern in Melbourne, Australia at 10 in the morning, just so I could watch my Blues win it all for the first time ever. People in the tavern came by and asked me what the sport was, and why I was so invested. After the final siren, I was crying on the floor in there, and the staff was congratulating me on the victory, haha.
This team made my Thursday morning one I'll never forget, for so many reasons. This is the reason I watch sports. I always knew that all the heartbreak will eventually be worth it, and this will happen for you too, Leafs fans. It's so surreal.

It turns out Ryan O'Reilly was playing with a cracked rib going back at least to the Winnipeg series. Explains a lot about how he struggled the first couple rounds. And makes it all the more impressive how he performed in the last 2 rounds.
The photo of brad Marchand crying hurts me for some reason like I should be happy that he's sad ( canucks fan here) but no. I relate to him in this photo bc its like 2011 all over again. Because you don't know how much longer you'll be in the league and when you'll have the chance to make it to the finals. I really do feel like if there was a different goalie for blues, the score would've been different. Binnington saved the 1st third single handedly and gave the team confidence to sit back after the first one or two goals. Good season blues! Its an amazing story to come back from last in january and take the cup!!

I hadn’t even been born the last time the Blues were in the finals! I have literally been waiting my whole life as a Blues fan for this moment! And now...I find myself oscillating between absolutely 0 sympathy and total sympathy for teams with long cup droughts. I’m sure I’ll straighten it out before next season, but in the meantime...what a feeling to FINALLY have that monkey off our back!

Lack of celebration by the Blues on the bench was professionalism. Finish the job, don't head for the bench with 10 seconds left. No fear at that point of the Bruins scoring but not letting down and giving them that opportunity.

I’m a die hard Leafs fan, and for me it does feel really good to see Bozak raise the cup! And a fun fact, I just realized that there is like 13 players on the Blues that are Canadian. So I guess the cup will be spending the majority of the summer in Canada! Hopefully I’ll see it when Joel Edmundson brings it back to Brandon.

Seeing this everywhere.. I'm happy for both, Bozak got placed on a line he belonged and Kessel got to play on a stacked forward unit that actually had defense, not great defense but capable for the time. Cheers to Gunnarsson and Steen as well. One day, the Leafs will hoist the cup and we can make comments about how players from former teams signed on with the Leafs at the right time. I just hope I'm alive to see it happen.
Always quality mate - next best thing to lifting the Stanley Cup for St Louis is the fact they’ve just (and hockey has) picked up a whole new set of fans who won’t be going away anytime soon.

That was a brutal game to watch! I still had high hopes though! I was really getting worried in the 1st period of Game 7... we didn't have our legs yet and if Binnington didn't stand and deliver the way he did, we would have gotten slaughtered. Seeing the Blues win 4-1 and bring the Stanley Cup home yesterday was one of the best days of my life!!!! LET'S GO BLUES!

Thank you for a great season Steve! I loved your book and LFR and the Cup Check. Its been a fun ride. Sad the Caps couldn't repeat but was so excited for the blues and their fans. If the Caps don't win it next year I hope its Toronto so you can experience the joy I felt a year ago at the parade.
