Ulkhyari is a beautiful eco home stay near sahastradhara , it is a budget option with basic facilities in nature.
ahastradhara meaning thousand fold spring, is one of the most popular tourist destinations located in Dehradun in Uttrakhand state of India.
Sahastradhara is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Uttarakhand and is situated about 14 km from the city of Dehradun, near Robber's Cave.
Also known as Sulphur Springs, this waterfall cascades through limestone stalactites, making the water rich in sulphur. A dip in the Sulphur-rich water here feels cold and refreshing but is believed to have remarkable medicinal advantages. The temperature of the water here is a little lower than its surroundings. Its picturesque beauty attracts a lot of travellers from faraway places. One can even enjoy a stunning view of the mountains on a fun ropeway ride.
The area has widespread serenity and tranquillity, with rich Himalayan vegetation. The water here has a fall of around 9 meters. Since this region has a sedimentary accumulation of Lime and Sulphur, one can spot a plethora of brownish-orange elements in the surrounding cave.
उत्तराखंड में कई ऐसे स्थान हैं जहां पर कुछ न कुछ रहस्य छिपे हैं। यहां ऐसी ही एक गुफा है जिसमें प्रकृति के बीच एक ऐसा रहस्य छिपा है जिससे वैज्ञानिक भी हैरान है। पहाड़ी के अन्दर प्राकृतिक रूप से तराशी हुई कई छोटी छोटी ग़ुफाओं से औषधीय गुणों वाला झरना भी बहता हैं। कहा जाता है कि इन गुफाओं से आने वाले पानी में नहाने से त्वचा के सारे रोग ठीक हो जाते हैं। दरअसल यह पानी गंधक युक्त होता है, जिसके उपयोग से चमड़ी के दर्द ठीक हो सकते हैं। पहाड़ी से गिरते हुए जल को प्राकृतिक तरीक़े से ही संचित किया गया है। थोड़ी दूर पहाड़ी पर आगे चलने पर गंधक कुंड है।

We visited Ulkhyari Home Stay on 1st October and checked out on 3rd October. It was a nice stay there. There was great hospitality by the owner Mr Vivek and great food was served by Vijay, the cook. The food was tasty and served timely as per our requirement.
The spot was serene and isolated. There were lush green trees all around with spring flowing just near the stay or better to say in the stay itself. We enjoyed bath in the spring and had lunch sitting amidst the spring. It was an unforgettable experience.
The huts were neat and clean.
I suggest Vivek that Washrooms in the hut need to be fitted with exhaust fan and better drainage in the washroom as water gets accumulated after bath and need to be drained using wiper.
The approach road to the hut was very steep and narrow though it was just 500 to 600 m long. Only an expert driver may drive on this stretch. For more safety one may ask help from Vivek to drive on that stretch.
This place is the best suited for nature lover who wants to live in silence and enjoy the natural beauty. One may meditate and enjoy reading books there in the lap of nature.
