- This is going to be a fun series. My 14 yr old son Nathan and I are rebuilding his 1997 OBS Ford f350 powerstroke. It is his first truck and he bought it with his own money. It was in a small wreck, so we are gonna rebuild it in my shop together. We have lots of help along the way. Our friends @carrickcustoms9504 and @obssolutions1466 have been our go to places for parts so far. Enjoy part 1, there will be many more, the goal is to have it done by his 15th birthday april 2024, so he can drive it after he gets his permit!

Nathan you have a big job ahead of you, but you have the best person to help you. This will be a sweet ride when you’re done. Go get’em young man.
Great Project For Nathan , the best thing is Nathan is working on something that he will have pride in and he has financed it mostly himself ,with help form dad and Kevin he will have a great truck and he will take care of it ,nothing is more important than putting in the work on something yourself .
Nathan is going to love this truck. I think that he will still have it when he is an old man.
Nice truck. Nothing better than something you build with Dad. Best part is it's paid for not financed.
Awesome father/son project! Good job Dad for teaching him and not handing it to him. Nathan, you got a cool Dad 😎
I bought a 97 powerstroke in ‘02. I still have it and drive it. Almost 400k on it now and it still runs great!
I did an RSK on the front, super duty springs, electric fuel pump, straight pipe, Donaldson air filter, and a ton of other stuff. I plan to be buried in that truck when I die.
Good father son project. You may be a great father. Personal experience, don't blow up when the son wants to run off and do things with his friends. And you had the day planned to work on the truck.
Nice F350 Nathan!
Looks great. I love that he is earning his own money and doing his own work.
Want to see the OBS FORD BUILD!!! This will be sweet!
Bought a 1997 F350 one ton 4x4 power stoke from dealer in Norco Cailf . Best truck I ever bought. . I paid $36 K fully loaded . Never did one thing to that truck other then service couple headlights. Put over 400 k miles on it . Only bad thing was the ride was bad . You would feel a bottle cap if you ran over one . But that will be a good truck for you . Can’t kill them . 👍👍👍👍
Well done Nathan, the more you invest now the more you will enjoy later. Pretty awesome project.
Ben, I'm excited for this series, I love the OBS Fords. I have a 87 F250 4x4 with 6.9 idi 😉and 95 F150. That cool that Nathan's got this project going, I be waiting for part two
That’s gonna be an amazing truck. Love the OBS fords.
It's good seeing your kid getting his own truck. But I love that you are helping him build it.
Can't wait to see the truck put back on the road. Thanks for sharing the back story. Good luck 🍀🤞.
Love that you are doing this together ...
Will be fun to watch.
That's sick. I'm looking at a 97 f350 supercab dually, good ole 7.3. I asked my dad to help me with stuff because it would be a way for us to bond and to sum it up, I got told to F off.
I wish for everyone to have a wonderful relationship with their parents.
One person’s loss is another person’s win. I have that exact same truck. At least once a month, someone knocks on my door with wads of cash in hand wanting to buy it. Last offer was $19k and he walked away without the keys. Good for you Nate, sounds like you are learning a good work ethic at the same time
Really like the dark green Scout behind you Mr.Ben

I currently own and daily drive a 1995 Ford F250 4x4 extra cab long bed with a 351w that I will NEVER get rid of. With all the environmental bs our government is inflicting on the auto industry and the useless ev crap being pushed down our throats even though the electrical infrastructure won't handle the load whatsoever I'll happily drive my truck!!
Great project Nate, good for you. 😊😊😊😊😊
I love that silver and black
Lot of work.....
OBS for life! Let us know how many miles on this gem. I have a '97LB CC 7.3 I bought new and has 221,300 on the clock. I will be watching this closely!
Happy New Year!
That truck is clean...
Great job Nathin and Dad ,my dad was not a mechanic but he did cosign to buy a 1968 mustang for my first car. $650 dollars lol. l still have the second 68 mustang that replaced the first one after a total lose reck 16 days after l passed D.L. test.
I have a 97 f350 cclb 4x4 7.3 auto so I'm all in for this build series
Great story, Ben.
That is a nice truck Nathon,I have been told that the gas and diesel frames are different as far as width. Great project
Sweet nice to see young man with ambitions
New frame? Looks like he needs some spring center pins and new U bolts. Maybe the frame horn bent a little but that can be fixed without all the extra work of dismantling a truck to swap fames.
Same video as this morning. Nathan has quite a project ahead of him, but with his Dad, it will be very interesting 🤔
Cool truck and a great Father/Son project!!
Those will be great videos
Excellent that describes it all excellent father and son doing a project together
Looks like a good start. Going to be a nice truck!
cool project , best of luck.
Yes it is I had the same one and loved my truck
and it was if i am not mistaken designed by cat yes thats is going to be one killer truck for a kid i am a lover of the 1997 ford power Stroks have one of my own
Love it. Used to have a 94. Hoping to get back in one sometime this year or next.
Nothing like a Son/Father project to set a great foundation of proper parenting & setting him up to know how to work on stuff! Definitely looking forward to all the parts of this rebuild. Congrats on setting up a good plan & working so hard to attain a goal. I'm sure all your buddies (not to mention a bunch of us old crusties!) Will be envious of your ride, & the skills you'll gain along the way! I doubt this will be the last of meaningful projects for ya! Give Ben an extra hug from all of us that can't! Thanx !
That's a pretty aggressive schedule. Don't be scared to take longer!
My dad and I are fixing a 97 F250 extended cab short bed 4x4 manual for my first truck
Sounds like a lot of work trying to avoid the frame machine and give it some tugging here and there. Is there something really wrong beyond repair you haven't mentioned? Seems like a lot of extra work, help me understand. I'm scratching my head and wondering why what I am missing in the content?
The cab on the donor truck should sell. I have seen many which do not look nearly as good as it does.
Going to be a very nice truck when done. My question is why you didn't take it to a body shop and have the frame straighten?
Sick!!
Very nice rig , Nathan 👍 . I think 37's would look and work great on that . Enjoy your project with Dad ( and Kevin )
😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😎
are the gas and diesel frames the same?
Hopefully yall paint that frame ugh I hate it when I see someone swap frames and don’t buy a 20 dollar gallon of implement black paint and make it a little bit cleaner haha
Can I lay claim to all your left over parts? Please...
Kalispell?
Just a suggestion.
97 foot Ford, lol
