Movie is a lot of fun, I would consider it more of an adventure/comedy rather than a horror film myself. Fun fact: In Duke Nukem 3D Almost all of Duke's One liners come from Army of Darkness and They Live.
The steelbook for Army of Darkness has different artwork on the disks than the slip cover version. The disk artwork on the steelbook look awesome. Richard Diaz has a nice video showing the differences.

Then I have ED 2013 & ED Rise on 4K with slips. 🤷🏼 I still haven't watched Ash vs ED. I didn't make it through AOD. I'll have to try again some day. It lacked the humor & plot of ED 2 & the gruesomeness of ED 2013, so I wasn't really into it. 😎
Dream sequence isn't the new ending. It's the original ending. I was lucky enough as a teenager to get to see a free screening of Army of Darkness in Burbank, CA. We saw it with the overslept ending.

About that nic on your 4K disc case - no need to return anything. Just grab one of your empty 4K cases, or if you have none, grab your least fave 4K (Terminator 2?) and switch it out. Problem solved. Glad to hear about this beautiful release tailored for your beautiful new TV!

Another great review buddy and your first with the new tv (excellent). Back in tie 80s when I worked in a video store lol, Evil Dead 2 was one of our best rentals. Some friends and I actually caught Army of Darkness in the theater in 92 and always enjoyed it even though it was more slapstick.
I was finally able to open the the big set from Scream. The posters were a tad bent. Scream needs to pad their posters or something. The pins are great quality. The steelbook looks amazing too. I didn't realize that you get two full copies of everything. That makes the price point make a little more sense. It was still overpriced, but oh well.
As nice as it would have been to get ALL cuts on the same great 4K quality, in this particular case it is probably understandable that all the available SOURCES of each cut might not be in as good of shape or quality as the source for the theatrical cut. Also, it would probably cost a LOT more money to fully remaster EACH cut on 4K, and a smaller boutique company like Shout/Scream Factory might not have the resources to do that. Whereas something like Apocalypse Now (where we DID get EACH cut on 4K), that was a big-budget movie by a big-name director, and Lionsgate has much more money/resources at their disposal to put into the release (being a big studio)

In Australia we grew up with the international cut…I’m glad it at least got a 4k scan on a standard blu ray, but was really bummed it’s not in native 4k 😢

For some reason I'm obsessed with getting the Evil Dead Groovy Collection & the Army Of Darkness Steelbook. Then I'll have everything. 😎 Ahh, childhood, when I had the attention span to sit through 3 movies at a time. 😂 Now I can barely get through a 2 hour movie at home without being on my phone. 😳

I got this movie on 4k too this past Tuesday and I still haven’t seen it yet since I haven’t seen the 2nd movie and I did see the first movie I have that one on blu ray steelbook too and I’m gonna wait for the individual on 4k on 11/1 to watch them since they come in a double feature so might as wait to watch them all on that day too bro and can’t wait to watch them all on 4k for the first time too and can’t wait for Evil Dead Rise too coming out next year on April 21, 2023 3 days after my birthday too bro that will be my good month too for my birthday bro
This one is by far my favorite evil dead and it's not even close. The movie where Bruce shines and that's reason alone. Then the spectacle, effects, deadites and humor just adds to the reason.
I have the screen Friday release with all the cuts. I was disappointed that the international cut is in 4k on Blu-ray but not a 4K disc! Also no Atmos. it's nice of the theatrical cuts in 4k and it looks good but I'm pretty disappointed. I could see getting this if I didn't already own the screen factory set.
I hear you on the audio. Well, actually I don't. Lol What all exactly do you have for your audio set-up? I was told, (rudely, I might add) that I need a minimum of a soundbar, subwoofer, & 2 speakers for 5.1 audio. A couple people told me I actually need a receiver. I'm still confused. I mean Dolby Atmos, 5.1, 7.1 etc. I don't know what I actually need to enjoy any of that. Google (and several TH-camrs) do not agree on the subject. 😒
Never seen the international cut, that I know of. Hate the director's cut, other than that alternate ending. pretty sure I heard Raimi himself say in a commentary somewhere that he wasn't sure what the hell they thought they were doing with some changes made for that cut.
If you don't mind scratches, white specks and dirt then it's decent but the first two films look immaculate compared to this. Wasn't impressed with this release. 😒 They didn't even clean it up.

It's still the best it's looked but it should have been handled so much better than this. Some scenes where the scratches are obvious are the crowd reactions to the fight in the pit against the blue sky and after he shoots the witch. Check the top right corner. There's even a splotch at the beginning on the right side I never noticed before. I can post the time code but yeah they missed a bunch of stuff that should have been cleaned up. If they were opticals like effects shots I could ignore them but they're not.

I love this movie, but I love Evil Dead 2 more. I like how the 2015 Blu Ray looks, so I'll just stick with that one unless I find a really good deal
