This collection has fond memories for me from back in the 80's home in NYC in another life ;-)
Antonio vivaldi composed beautifully from his heart making it the greatest music ever made directly from the heavens above.
Monica Huggett has played with John Holloway and Catherine Macintosh in the Hogwood Four Seasons Concerts. This is to say she has played with some of the best musicians (as John Holloway, Catherine Macintosh or Alison Bury and others) there are in world. What Hogwood did with his Vivaldi Opus 8 album remains for me and millions the most well balanced and sophisticated rendition ever did about that masterwork. The great Monica Huggett then, has recorded these other famous La Cetra Concerts and the truth is that they can compete nowadays with those the excellent Simon Standage recorded with Christopher Hogwood for L'oiseau Lyre (an excellent too Decca Label). Her violin is a sign of quality by itself, approaching perfection with her masterful technique and her well known sensitivity. She worked with Hogwood in several recordings (up to the point that think we could say she is part of Hogwood's Academy of Ancient Music legacy) and then with The Academy of St Martin in the Fields. As think this is a more recent recording than what Standage did with Hogwood about these Concerts, this rendition of the La Cetra Concerts is highly recommendable to enjoy her prodigious Art of playing violin on period instruments. Or Baroque as it was played, according to the highest quality standards and the more serious researches, studies and so, criteria. 🤔🙄🤗❤️👍🙏
