My favorite thing about skarner skins is that he has TWO skins where the premise is "Hey what if we took skarner and made him a scorpion from the desert?" when he LITERALLY ALREADY IS A SCORPION FROM THE DESERT
Visually? Earthrune and Sandscourge Skarner are nice. They will look dope with the VGU.

Tbh im going to give it to them because when Skarner was first released he was just another _default forest/plains_ mob. A very similar story, he had. But the initial location of Kalamanda (where Skarner is from) was located on the northern entrance of Morgon Pass. Which was located at the Great Barrier, the old divider of the north and south Valoran. And the northern part of that place was just a default forest/plains/mountains type of place. Not a desert, essentially.

I'm genuinely surprised you didn't mention how it took over 2000 days for cosmic to come out after Gaurdian of the Sands, it's kinda impressive in a depressing way.

I may be crazy but...I like Sandscourge.
Its mostly the idea of making characters uninteresting that makes it interesting to me. Like yeah I just wanna play a stupid silly bug. He buggyboi. ❤
Yeah I have Battlecast, Cosmic and Sandscourge and funnily enough I always end up gravitating towards Sandscourge the most. Battlecast gets a bit boring after spamming it and Cosmic has very similar colors to the classic Skarner, so I always end up seeing Sandscourge splashart and thinking "hell why not"

Got to say I LOVE (for a cheap skin) Earth Rune Skarnerer and am looking forward to it getting the same treatment as the Galileo skins, which were some that I also liked once they got re-worked ( I happen to be on of those weirdo that like the less popular champions like Aniva & Skarnerer )
Considering how when a champ gets a vgu or asu, their skin that got shoehorned into a skinline gets redesigned to fit said skinline, Im fairly certain that sandscourge skarner may become more demonic or get a cowboy hat
I think it'd be fun to get NickyBoi to do a Rapid-Fire Skin Review for Zoe. Then he has to share his thoughts on all of her skins instead of just brushing her off.
Sand Scourge is not so bad. I mean, yes, turning him into a basic scorpion is a basic idea, but it works visually, we have a crystal scorpion who is gonna turn into a rock scorpion after the VGU, so a "regular" scorpion skin stands out in both cases and makes a lot of sense. There is a reason why a lot of people want a fire skin for Anivia, since she is the "Cryophoenix", people want to see her as a more simple fire phoenix because its very different from the default.

Nicky you do realize you’ll have to make a review on VGU Skarner when it eventually comes out. Also it’ll be hilarious to see you do one of these skin reviews for a champ like Lux or the like that have well over a dozen skins

I like Cosmic Skaner, it was my wallpaper on my PC for a long time.
My favourite skin of Skarners is Cosmic Sting, I've always loved the cosmic skins because I'm a very simple person, I see pretty space particle effects, my brain creates the happy chemicals.
Also I paused the video to look at all the artwork you drew between 0:14 and 0:18 I want to say I love the Tinkaton with a juice box it's very cute.

Nah I gotta stand up for Guardian of the Sands. The Crystal Armor turning into jade to made the color scheme visually pleasing to my eyes. It's basically the base skin for me. 6.5/10 and far better option than no skin or bad texture skin.
Having all of them, so exited for the rework!
hot take: Earthrune Skarner is going to become Classic Skarner, and today's Classic Skarner will become its own skin taking the place of current Earthrune Skarner

As a Skarner one-trick, I want to say that Earthrune is a great skin, which is really cheap! I genuinely love the recolour of OG Skarner!
Also, I genuinely LOATHE Battlecast Skarner, I think it looks quite bad (and once you realize that the tracks aren't actually attached, you'll dislike it aswell) I also genuinely don't like his voice, since OG Skarner has some of the best voice work in LoL! (I also ALSO LOATHE the clunky animations dear god can I not stand them)

I think sandscourge is way better than a 3/10
It is a basic concept and the crystal effect make it look bad but the overall design is good. Like, I think that a more horror themed warwick without all the chem stuff would be a neat skin for him even though it'd basically just be a werewolf. Simplicity is better than excessive detail.

Riot has an amazing opportunity to make Sandscourge a realistic scorpion design with the remake, think like Pug Maw, but with a normal Scorpion.

That was when Riot released skins when they had a cool concept/design in mind regardless if the champion was popular or not, if they thought the design was cool, they'd make it. Now they just make skins for money, which is totally fair as the game is f2p, but a disappointment nonetheless.
No it was for money back then too, but giving an unpopular championship a legendary skin gives them a little boost in popularity, plus it just worker well. They had several ideas on the drawing board, but skarner was the best idea
Earthrune Skarner is visually and thematically very nice.
I'm curious about his Earthrune design since it seems kinda similar in concept to his reworked designed

I love Sand Scourge Skarner because I get to live my dream of being a scorpion on the rift.
Considering how skarner is gonna look a lot like the rune skin already, would be interesting if they changed the skin to look like his current purple cristaline design
Cosmic sting is actually the best to use because of the effects of his E and Q being hard to see especially on his spire. Also his E is much quieter than battlecast, which sounds like the Dragonslayer sword from berserk 2016

Ah, a fellow sand scourge appreciator. Its also my second favorite (very close to first) skarner skin because it's SO bad and ugly that it goes all the way around and ends up being good.
This review will be really useful for all of the Skarner mains out there. That's at least 2, maybe 3 people!

Earthrune skarner absolutely great for its price and a better skin than most all skins at that price range. Super underrated in this vid :(

Battlecast looks like Victor bought it in Ikea as a humanoid robot but got drunk or didn't use the instructions(Like a chad), "doesn't look right hmm... Well shit it works. Still one of the best skins on my account.

The thing I don't like about his Cosmic skin is that his body is just a bunch of gold rings/circles. I get that it's because he has a segmented body but that just didn't make sense to me.
In the rework, I think they should make him look more like a constellation and less, idk, metallic. I still love the gold, especially the headpiece, so I'm not asking to downright discard it. Just make him look like a celestial god.

If it were a cosmic review then docking points from cosmic sting because ‘basic cosmic’ but in a ranking specifically about skarner I feel like being part of an over saturated skin line shouldn’t matter? Like it’s visually one of his best but it gets a mid ranking because even tho it’s great and fits the aesthetic perfectly the overall line it’s part of has too many skins and it feels kinda wrong

Skarners skins are neat for the most part in that sorta cheesy way but I definitely agree with most of his skins being pretty bad. Also gonna take this opportunity to finally let this out so a slight warning if you don't like complaints I guess?
Skarner VGU taking so long is more proof of why the community voting for him was stupid. Trynd, noc or Shyv were always better picks because the identity they have is easy to work with and also are controversial champs in terms of gameplay. Either they're unplayable or the counterplay is "lmao don't get clicked". Skarner is the same way but unlike the other 3, doesn't have a playerbase which means unless this champ is BROKEN, he's gonna end up just like fiddle where only a handful of people play it and then it goes back to being basically untouched.
Riot can't figure out a design and what they want his gameplay to look like because there isn't much room to change his gameplay while making him feel like skarner and design wise they'd have to just remake the champ instead of just updating the model because PEOPLE VOTED FOR A REWORK.
