True but for valid reasons! nobody wants to hear it more than Viv himself too! I've been assured that it will once all that is necessary has been checked over and as soon as it's ready we'll get Viv back in! Hang tight! [Dan].
Really good looking bike but higher on the priority list to me as a builder is making it run & I would have done that before I built a bike around it. The video ending was disappointing.
so....an APU. try spooling up an aircraft without AC power and/or hydraulics (from the APU) or, when you flame out in flight...no APU to serve for redundancy.
It’s a thing of beauty and 400 hours isn’t a great deal of time all things considered, approximately 10 weeks work to the average person for an outstanding build, hopefully one day in the future it will find its way into a public museum/ collection where a lot more people will get the enjoyment of seeing it in the flesh . I sincerely hope that you will be able to get it running someday . Thanks for sharing .
Viv what a achievement of engineering excellence. Constantly keeping with the the period of the engine. I enjoyed the video Please please upload when you start her Thanks Dave P.S Barry was the King.
What a great one off build....putting aero engines in bikes or cars always showcases mechanical ingenuity and great engineering skills. Look forward to hearing it fired up! Steve
If you were to see this bike at a show, you'd probably say Wow thats really cool... but to actually hear about all of the amazing work and attention to detail is astounding. Exceptional work sir!
I absolutely LOVE this engine. One of the best looking engines I've ever seen, it's so overbuilt and complex. Good job on saving this engine and keeping it in original condition. The carburetor looks so awesome on the side, down low, and facing the right direction to keep dirt out. I learned a new word for bolts too: "Fixins." Thank you teaching me a new word! I've never heard that word before around here ;)
“Spirit of Curtis” that is awesome. I live 15 miles from Hammondsport, NY where the Glen H. Curtis Museum is located. I will be heading to Wings and Wheels in Hammondsport for the annual seaplane fly in tomorrow morning. Absolutely awesome bike build.
Absolutely love what you've done there..... Also loved your talk on it, I could happily listen to you chat on the subject for a long, long time. Please get her running and post a video one day soon. Cheers from Manchester UK.
Sir, this is one of the most beautiful bike I have seen! Your combination of all found assembled parts is a feast for the eye! And like more in the reaction I would have love to hear it! Enjoy it! Thank you for sharing this.
This engine LOOKS right in a motorcycle frame, so many don't and the fact that it's a sensible size 736cc, makes it a really nice combination! well done sir!
I am utterly confounded! Whilst I admire and appreciate the hard work and improvisational ingenuity that has gone into this build, getting the engine running and some idea of its power delivery would have been the first of my priorities. I hope it works out . It is a handsome machine.
Absolutely love a lot of the bikes in the Shed but this one is on a different level. Outstanding my man! Your details and though process makes for something special.
Absolutely love it. It sits really well. Particularly like the way you had it patinated. Everything looks well proportioned. I like the way the tank and the seat level through. Attention to period detail such as the sand bending of the frame set this one apart. Imagine if you parked this outside the ABC factory back in the day. I bet it would have stopped the production line.
I once had a V Twin 82nd Airborne Division Field generator, within a cage to ease handling and air drops. It fired my imagination to where it could only be used as a small motorcycle engine. I had a 125 HD in a hardtail frame that was the spitting image of a WR frame and was all set to start when someone stole both of them from my back porch. You can imagine my anger and disappointment, I'm sure. I'm so glad to see that you have realized your dream. From one machinist to another, keep up the good work. You do it well, indeed.
This is amazing to me; I have always admired people with such mechanical abilities and skills...what an awesome idea! I hope you bring it back when he gets the engine checked up and running. Great video!
Fantastic creation ! Getting everything right for this bike is a true labor of love & the small details like the brazed style frame vvould make nearly every motorcyclist looking it over think the bike had been originally made in the 1940's . The V4 engine stands out & its patina is perfect.I'm so glad you didn't try polishing it up . I hope that after you check through the top end & it is ready to go that you'll make another video of it. For all the hard vvork you've put into it as vvell as having to carry the engine around for years ,you are very deserving of having a bike so unique , as vvell as it being the only one in existance . I vvish you many years of joyfull riding once it is ready . Also you should make up some shelves for all the avvards you are bound to be vvinning once you start bringing it to bike shovvs. Thank you for sharing this magnificient machine.
Absolutely a beautiful build. I'm right in line with your way of thinking. I'm impressed and dazzled at the same time. LOVE IT ! I would LOVE to here it run.
The motorcycle history on that side of the planet is so rich with parts and other bits from 100 years of international motorcycle evolution, make a project like this so worthwhile. Damn, creative. Too bad it wasn’t started up for the camera.....30 seconds of runtime, would speak out as if it were an hour of auditory bliss for other old gear heads out there. Well done, Sir.
love it. Easier in this day and age to fix the old odd engines. 3D print the part to ensure fitment and either CNC or have it cast from the model. Leno has revived several dead cars to running condition because of this.
It has been ten months, uncle viv, you've been holding on to the engine for 25 years but we are fickle and demanding we want to see those 19 ponies gallop
Simply beautiful. Engineering art. What a clever build. Left me thinking, wow, I want something like that with a Honda Pan engine, all aged to look like it was made by Vincent, etc from the 1950's.
Had a chance at one of these engines, it now lives in the Internal Fire Museum, While I didn't come away with this ABC, I did bring home a WW1 500cc ABC.
That bike is so cool, reminds me of the equipment I work on at wairakei power station in NZ, first commissioned in 1958... so similar ish era I guess Haha
I listened to him talk for 11 minutes and he never started it? Seriously? He could’ve just told us it doesn’t run and gave me 10 minutes of my life back!!
Oh Viv that bike is beautiful, explanation outstanding...............and I can quite well understand you not wanting to start until ya check the top end, love it ! and know you do, such a spectacle ! Thanks from nz, originally slough
Love this build. Shame the engine is running yet but can’t wait to hear it when it is. Can’t beat the sound of a 40’s aircraft engine.... even if it is the APU! 😂
Beautiful bike, wow! I've been sitting, trying to figure out what I'm going to build next and you gave me inspiration to build that style of frame. My engine isn't as cool looking, an XS650, thank you for sharing.
Great result. Can't help thinking that the front brake plate could have been rotated to eliminate the huge brake cable loop, allowing the cable to follow down the front of the forks. Love it!!
Too bad we didn't hear IT.....
True but for valid reasons! nobody wants to hear it more than Viv himself too!
I've been assured that it will once all that is necessary has been checked over and as soon as it's ready we'll get Viv back in! Hang tight!
[Dan].
That's all I waited for
Too bad he put tall that time in never having even bench hoped it
Really good looking bike but higher on the priority list to me as a builder is making it run & I would have done that before I built a bike around it. The video ending was disappointing.
You sure you're going to have him come back in? its been 5 months
So... not an aircraft engine, a generator motor.
well, technically it was an engine in an aircraft...just not the aircraft's engine.
jerryamcm.blogspot.com/2013/05/1946-triumph-gp-racer.html
so....an APU. try spooling up an aircraft without AC power and/or hydraulics (from the APU) or, when you flame out in flight...no APU to serve for redundancy.
Can you say clickbait? lel... but magnificent build non the less..we have to give him that ☺
The Mighty Dash , true and not true? An actual engine that powered the props would be 10x better
More of such custom bikes please 🙏
Viv what a achievement of engineering excellence. Constantly keeping with the the period of the engine. I enjoyed the video Please please upload when you start her Thanks Dave P.S Barry was the King.
I mean it's basically a bent goldwing
Yes Bazza was King never mind that roberts wanker.!
A remarkable Bike, built by an extremely talented, and modest chap. Bravo I say, Bravo!
Jon Hodder , is that you jonathan?
This fellow is a born innovator and a master craftsman.
What a shame that we couldn't hear the engine noise moreover how was this bike built without the engine being starting
Let’s hope it rotates in the direction he has assumed it will.
I absolutely LOVE this engine. One of the best looking engines I've ever seen, it's so overbuilt and complex. Good job on saving this engine and keeping it in original condition. Fantastic! I am in awe of anyone who can conceive of building a bike like this, much less see the project through to such a superb conclusion.
I was at that museum few years ago. Recommended! What is this about a seaplane fly in? Sounds great, gotta catch that.
Oh it dont start then, after all that.
What!?
I appreciate what you have done and shared with us. Hope to hear this lady "sing" in the future.
. . . Epic machine, . . . and great commentary !
Absolutely love what you've done there..... Also loved your talk on it, I could happily listen to you chat on the subject for a long, long time.
Please get her running and post a video one day soon. Cheers from Manchester UK.
Great stuff! Hopefully we can hear and see it in action once he gets it sorted. Thanks

Viv, I just came across this by chance, top job on the bike mate. Hope all is well. Cheers, Pete.

Oh man this is a beautiful bike. Well done, Sir
I love this project 👍 watched it many times and I am still sad that we cant hear this beauty 😢🙏🙏
Absolutely a beautiful build. I'm right in line with your way of thinking. I'm impressed and dazzled at the same time. LOVE IT ! I would LOVE to here it run.

This guy is an engineer and an artist, beautiful work. The Bike Shed has some beautiful bikes, but this is on the next level.
Fantastic bike a lot of work but well worth it, we look forward to hearing it run and taken for a ride.
Fantastic Viv! Can't wait to see the video when you run it, mate.
That is a brilliant piece of mechanical art. Well done sir! Looks the period that;s for certain.
Why have people disliked this video? Awesome build, well done indeed, love it....
Absolutely beautiful machine. Well done.
Wierd to learn that I was not the only person to cut a leather belt for a custom project.
We've all been there!
really? that's pretty common place
This should be in a museum, and its own article written to go with it.
That's a fine bit of work. Thanks for sharing it. I look forward to hearing that thing fired up.
love the bike, please let us hear it when it's ready to run! : )
It has been ten months, uncle viv, you've been holding on to the engine for 25 years but we are fickle and demanding we want to see those 19 ponies gallop
START IT UP AND LET HER EAT!!!!!!
I admire your ingenuity this looks like a period piece that has had an oily rag restoration.
It may not be a speed demon but it is a beautiful machine. God bless you brother.
Simply beautiful. Engineering art. What a clever build. Left me thinking, wow, I want something like that with a Honda Pan engine, all aged to look like it was made by Vincent, etc from the 1950's.
We NEED to hear it run.
Great fab! I feel certain you will address the engine with the same focus to detail. Great job and my best wishes with this beauty
Had a chance at one of these engines, it now lives in the Internal Fire Museum, While I didn't come away with this ABC, I did bring home a WW1 500cc ABC.
@@xandergoodwin8278 With only 80 of them ever made..... I'd say with great difficulty...
Well done, everything finely proportioned and worked out. Can't wait to hear it run!
Glad to hear something good came out of that aircraft....as it was supposed to be a good nail in the British aircraft industry.
A wonderful thing .. All it needs is some sepia photos of it racing & taking the kids to Skegness with a sidecar attached in the 1950s
Soooooooo, Ermmmmmmm.... Is she running yet?
Chase him up. We're all intrigued. 👍🏻
FFS! It's bloody brilliant!
That bike is so cool, reminds me of the equipment I work on at wairakei power station in NZ, first commissioned in 1958... so similar ish era I guess Haha
Respect for the amount of detail on this machine!
Fabulous work and a great looking bike. Top notch.
Quite the beast. Such a beautiful machine.
I listened to him talk for 11 minutes and he never started it? Seriously? He could’ve just told us it doesn’t run and gave me 10 minutes of my life back!!
I was waiting to hear it! Fascinating bike, the aeroplane link is so romantic. I wish I had the skills to build something like this.
Weldone ...nice attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship..
I love projects like this. Nice work.
Oh Viv that bike is beautiful, explanation outstanding...............and I can quite well understand you not wanting to start until ya check the top end, love it ! and know you do, such a spectacle ! Thanks from nz, originally slough
Should just enjoy the bike brother! Even if it does break...nevertheless very much enjoyed watching!!
beautiful!, a custom made antique. I look forward to hearing it run.
Absolutely ❤ this! Great bit of engineering and a stunningly beautiful bike.
Amazing naration, really felt emersed in your journey. Fabulous work.
this bike is the one! congratulations!!! thanks for sharing
Love this build. Shame the engine is running yet but can’t wait to hear it when it is. Can’t beat the sound of a 40’s aircraft engine.... even if it is the APU! 😂
Fantastic job! So cool
woah, actually surprised it was only 400 hrs. good stuff
Brilliant....just love it. Bravo well done
awesome build.. the tire size is perfect visual choice.. getting that big hunk in the frame and having it look right is amazing
It's just gorgeous. BSA, BMW, its just an art. Lovely.
Sorry, amigo, but if it doesn't run it's just art and not a motorcycle.
Viv you are great, Viva t Viv, looking agog to a successful start up... keep it rolling!
wow that looks incredible mate
I love the design ethos. More like this and fewer passé racers please. Thank you for sharing
Superb, attention to detail is spot on!
Stunning motorcycle. 👍
Beautiful bike, wow! I've been sitting, trying to figure out what I'm going to build next and you gave me inspiration to build that style of frame. My engine isn't as cool looking, an XS650, thank you for sharing.
What a beautifully built machine, and I love that engine. I was hoping to hear it run, but maybe in some future video.
need to hear it running...
Incredible, I would have loved to hear it. Hopefully a revisit in the future?
Great result. Can't help thinking that the front brake plate could have been rotated to eliminate the huge brake cable loop, allowing the cable to follow down the front of the forks. Love it!!
Certainly unique that's for sure.
Oh my goodness, what a machine. Unique and beautiful
Stunning. A thing of beauty.
Brilliant. Well done sir.
Wow! What a craftsman.
I think I prefer it to the Ducati, which is saying something, fantastic effort
Perfect build. Exactly the look i love which is why i bought my S7 👍
Wow beautiful engine and engineering.
I love the rawness of it
Great use for an APU, would love to hear it run on a future video.
How can anyone possibly give a thumbsdown for this video ... just a wonderful project with lots of soul :-)
I can, he doesn't even ride it... why have a bike if all it does is gather dust and rust
Lovely build, this is a proper custom bike!!
Masterpiece by a master
Looks good,I want it.Great looking build, lots of thought gone into looking correct.Always wanted a gear lever change on bike.Well done.
Kudos sir. Very impressive job. Beautiful engine. I feel the engine is the body and the bike is the clothes dressing it
