I still wonder how they avoid going “Ah, shit!” sometimes. I still remember one that Miggy (or it might’ve been Victor Martinez) hit off my Indians (well what the hell else am I supposed to call them?!), which left the yard in perhaps two seconds. All Matt Underwood, the TV announcer, had time to say was, “Crunched, deep left, gone!”
I never liked the Royals announcers but that first clip is awful. I’m not saying you HAVE to be cheering and excited when the other team hits a HR (though it’s nice when Gary Thorne shows actual amazement when a long HR is hit by either team), but don’t grumble and moan in place of announcing as if you’re at home watching the game on TV
Unfortunately, ever since the move from Turner Field to Suntrust Park (now renamed Truist park), the crowd at braves games is not nearly as hood as it once was. At turner, when you were exiting there were countless people playing instruments, selling snacks (“ice cold wata one dolla”) etc. Now when you leave it feels like walking down Rodeo Drive. I miss the hood element.
I hate when announcers do what most of these guys did, all I want is that the broadcasters aren’t straight up homers. As a Mets fan, this is why I’m proud of my team’s booth, they aren’t completely biased to the point where they sound like Joe Buck whenever calling an opposing home run. They announce every play with enthusiasm no matter which team it benefits and that’s the way it should be
I mean they know that the vast majority of the people watching say the cubs broadcast are cubs fans. Like they’re hired by the team to be the teams announcers they’re gonna be biased
@@dannycasserly697 For me, I’m biased enough as a fan that I don’t need or want the announcers to be biased when calling the plays on the field. Usually when announcers are biased like that it doesn’t only make for boring calls (like most of the ones here), it also comes out whenever there’s a close play that could reasonably go either way. When the announcers are biased like that, they very frequently act like the fans at home who yell at their TV that it’s obvious when it isn’t in fact obvious.
@@dannycasserly697 And again, I don’t wanna hear someone sounding like Joe Buck every time something doesn’t go my team’s way. Gary Thorne is a gem. I wish he was still calling hockey games, his goal calls were fantastic
You have to hear his calls on Gleyber Torres’s home runs against the Orioles! It’s amazing!
Legitimately shocked 😂

Gary Thorne makes the O's games worth watching. He's so enthusiastic and just enjoys watching and calling games.
You just know that first Bryce homer against the gNats had to absolutely kill that announcer

Zach Yup. One of only about half a dozen good lines in Major League II.
Great list but have to include Dave Niehaus calling both Mark McGwire’s 500+ foot homer’s off Randy Johnson
it's 2021, the end of January and I miss visiting ball parks like something fierce right now...
Jon Kruk complition

That Phillies crowd though. I’ll remember watching the game for a long time I still get chills
It’s like watching Joe Buck and Troy Aikman calling a Dallas Cowboys game when the Cowboys are getting destroyed 🤣
The first homerun just proves how louder the crowd at Target Field is on other broadcasts than on FOX Sports North/Bally Sports North
I’m 30. Started watching during the sosa mcgwire race. Saw griffey and many others. Mike Trout is the best baseball player I’ve ever seen.
