Except from set play, you are not starting from stationary position and often are retiring before you form your defensive line. This drill only does half the job. An opposed drill from different situations would be far more effective.

I saw one of the premiership teams doing this drill as a warm-up and thought I would add it in for variety. I tweeked it a bit and added more breakdown points ( one day, we did the length of the pitch with over 20 breakdown points) - Rugby Doc J Zimmerman
