Hi Chrome. Life is to short. I worked for over 30 years and two months after I retired I was diagnosed with cancer. If you want the van buy it and make it the best for you and Cruze. 🐶
I think the way you use your van, the less 'bells and whistles' is better. Even a basic equipped new van is a major improvement over what you live in today. I'm voting for a long blue one...
Remember service is not easy with mercedes, long wait time to get any service plus service centers not many, I am in a major city and if my mercedes breaks it takes weeks to get in and fixed.
I have a mercedes class c. I have not had any issues in getting into the dealership. In fact my dealership has some perks that other brands do not offer. They do not charge me for emissions. Always provide rides to and from free of charge. I have been extremely please with the sprinter. My other vehicle was a dodge diesel. Go with the long blue van. You won't regret it.
It's going to be your home and no one else's, well, other than Cruzie. If you want the blue one, get it. We all know that after you are done customizing how you want, it won't look the same. I have been watching since you build a simple bed frame, had your stuff in plastic tubs, and hung your clothes on the wall. You have come a long way, keep going. You deserve it.
Out of all the sprinter packages, make sure you get the lighting package. They do great oem led headlights and fog lights and its hard to upgrade them after because of the wiring harness
Mercedes = huge repair/replacement parts, IF they've available. Imagine you had been driving a Mercedes van all this time and the astronomical costs to repair/replace everything you had to do the past 1.5 yrs?
Just do it! You will thank yourself it's the cheapest new home you can buy in 2024 and to be able to stand will be awesome especially when you get older.. just upgrade it with 800Ah of SOK and massive solar! You will love it
The reason why I do not like electric powered doors, locks and windows is because of safety issues in the event that there is a malfunction or no power. As for the color, and skipping the bells and whistles: If you like the color, that's what matters. And you can customize your van as you see fit, which you already know. (I'm currently designing the interior door handles to my Chevy, and manual window crank handles, too. ) Merry Christmas, Chrome!
How about a Sprinter cutaway chassis and with a box on the back? Wider living space, straight walls, higher ceiling height, and a far easier build out as just a few of the benefits. There are a few places in the Van area that have these. I recall a Ford dealership in Langley had some on the pot, but were Transits.
Chrome putting baking soda in a bowl close the lid of fridge helps dissolve odors. You can also clean with vinegar and baking soda. Much safer for you and your food.
I figured you would be using the same product as you did on your long time home on the outside for protection. Then you can have it any color you want.
If you have the opportunity... GO FOR IT! The blue is sick!!!! Our van broke down, actually it gave up the ghost. It was a Dodge Grand Caravan. We were looking into an Econoline but our finances say no so we're trying to get another DGC. Make your home what you want and enjoy!!
You can opt for a Sprinter van with 4WD drive instead of “All wheel drive”. Sprinter vans equipped with 4WD offer three drive modes: regular two-wheel drive, four high, and four low. The four low setting enables higher revs at lower speeds, providing increased torque to the wheels. Don't mess this one up.
Hey, brother......where are you getting the big supportive numbers for the Mercedes van ???? Have you done your homework for the repairs and maintenance costs ?? I have driven Mercedes for 10 years and I can honestly say for the most part Inshop time was a nightmare. If you truly desire space.....have you considered a promaster ????
I do like the grey one but your right not many blue ones around! But once you get one then you’ll see it around! That happened to me when I was driving around in the black Subaru I had! Lol Merry Christmas to you and Cruz!
Hey Chrome, I've been watching your videos for a while, and I really appreciate your mentality toward simple living. Here are my thoughts on your upcoming milestone. Don’t overthink the color-you’ll always have the option to change it later if you want. Choose a car with minimal electronics to avoid constant troubleshooting, especially since you’ll be using it continuously. I’d recommend going for a long wheelbase, not just for more legroom up front but also for additional storage space. Consider how much room you’d have if your bed doesn’t start right at the back doors, leaving more space for the items currently cluttering your living room.
Fireball cinnamon whiskey with egg nog definitely tasty, ya I follow STATIC Campervan as well as a few others. But Chrome is a true professional in making awesome videos of this lifestyle This light blue 🩵 is a refreshing change to the ugly silver, black and white vehicles that are everywhere.. I miss all the varieties of colors vehicle manufacturers used to offer.
The 10,000 saving will go along way to doing the interior, as we get older being able to stand fully is important. I like the blue one. The sprinter has got to be the best van to choose.
Not a fan of the Mercedes we have them at work - some issues and parts and service are outrageous just something to keep in mind. Triple the price on everything over the ford/dodge.
My new used car insurance was jacked up to double my 2019 truck insurance! This new used 2020 car insurance was 1449..as opposed to 750.for my 2019 truck insurance...
Chrome, I think you may end up wishing you got the longer van if you end up buying the shorter one. Like you said, some more space and headroom would be great. I can totally relate to getting older and needing more comfortable quarters, I think the shorter van will become a headache.
I had a 2020 high top white Sprinter not the extended wheel base, nor an AWD because I didn’t go in areas that required it. I was stealth in the city, looked like a white work truck. NEVER got a knock. 😅I loved it! Had the diesel heater installed 😊The oil changes and service requirements are not as regular as we’re used to. It served me well before I moved into a condo and sold it. I miss it so much. I got teary when I saw you looking at them. Go ahead get a Sprinter.
Every sprinter I see is Grey, grey blue, black or white. Go blue Chrome. Its a gorgeous blue and will stand out - just like you do every day!! Merry Christmas Weirdo fam!! 🎄❤️
Do NOT buy a sprinter. As a mechanic on the island who deals with many sprinter conversions I can say they're JUNK avoid it like the plauge. Go for a transit, don't wanna see you stuck with costly repairs
That matches my research. You can find van lifers who say going from Sprinter to Transit was the best decision. I haven't run across anyone who was glad they went the other way by switching to a Sprinter.
You aren’t afraid of making big changes as often as you like, but you still put a lot of thought into it. That could be why you haven’t had the worst experiences in your life.
The blue one will not let you camp incognito.. you will stick out like a sore thumb; especially, in small towns or even in the city! In the U.S. things are changing, they may change laws in Canada ..stealth is always better.. plan long term.
Chrome is not incognito in his current van!! That has not been his goal from what he says in his vids, and he has the parking thing down pat = arriving late, leaving early.
I love that blue but like others have stated Mercedes warranty department is absolutely horrible. Id be concerned to spend 80 to 100k on this and have issues with getting legitimate warranty work done.
Long time wacher the, first time commenter, apparently you could use some pretty obvious advice from people who have been watching you for awhile, here goes: 1. Go long wheelbase because it's the SENSIBLE thing to do if you're LIVING in it, silly. 2. Buy the blue one, damnit. You apparently really like the color, NOBODY else is living in a blue sprinter, you'll be speshul. 3. Anything you can get in a non-powered option may still be working 5-10 years from now.😉😁👍 Merry Christmas, sir!🎉🎉🎄🎄
It's obvious you like the blue one,you only live once, just get the blue one😎
Blue
@@ccantu4593 grey shades is more practical
I love how luxurious the blue van could be. Just imagine no more kneeling and making it your own. Great van build out videos.
@cathyb4152 yes but absolutely no bonded windows that will be a disaster from the start.
The blue is a beautiful color, especially if you trick it out with black accessories. Merry Christmas
Danica voted blue, and that counts for 10,000 votes.
Plus one for me.
I think her vote is closer to 20,000 , plus one for me too.
B.L.A.C.K. Sprinter all the way!! I’d be afraid the blue would get old real quick. ✌🏼
GET THE BLUE ONE ALREADY!! 💙 I can't take the anticipation! 🤣
Hi Chrome. Life is to short. I worked for over 30 years and two months after I retired I was diagnosed with cancer. If you want the van buy it and make it the best for you and Cruze. 🐶
Sorry to hear that ,stay strong 💪
Hey, just bought a 2024 blue grey at 0% financing for 60 months. Let the build begin. Merry Christmas me.
@martin33366 don't install bonded windows it's a disaster for campervan
It doesn't matter what color you get, you'll have to repaint it with that tough paint thats hard to scratch!!! 😊
@asmradventureasmr why? If you get any metallic paint ?
Thanks!
Make sure to checkout the Ford you can get an aftermarke 60/40 door.
Also like 4 inches taller for insulation.
LET'S GO BLUE🚙🚙🚙🚙
I think the way you use your van, the less 'bells and whistles' is better.

Well, he is grey actually 😂
Chrome IS grey. Grey sprinter will go with his hair…

Definitely the blue for you Chrome! It is a unique color and you are a unique man 🩵💙😊

@Esther-b3j multipurpose spray that kills 99.9 of bacterias from reputable brand will work the best. Smell is the production of bacterias
@Esther-b3j wrong. Multipurpose 99.9 bacteria kill spray works the best.

Compare service shop availability for MB compared to Ford. You don't want to be stranded far away from service shops the way you use vans.
I still prefer the grey but you do you. Looking forward to you taking the plunge and watching the build.
