Going off of the idea that the player's contract comes into consideration for worst player ever, Tobias Harris should be in the conversation, he's the highest paid player to never make an All Star team
@@DaDualityofMan tobias Harris was the reason they lost that game 6 to Boston when they had a chance to eliminate them but dumb ass narrative followers wanted to blame harden because it’s a trend, and sheep love following the herd. Harris played 46 minutes in that game 6 and scored 2 points while letting tatum score on him in the 4th
There’s nothing “divisive” about Rudy, since his teammates have never had anything negative to say about him at all, on either of the teams he’s played for! The media is trying to be divisive, trying to tear teams apart because they don’t want them impeding the success of the teams they like more/most
There’s also a lot of players that just straight up hate seeing him win all the defensive player of the year awards, and call him soft/straight up make up false narratives about him because they hate seeing him succeed. Draymond green is the one that comes to mind immediately. Dwight Howard was recently hating as well.
@AB-ho1cr If kawhi is shooting a game winner over Gobert, Minnesotas defense has failed. The person you should’ve said was Luka, because he actually shot a game winner over him in the playoffs. It’s a mismatch no matter which forward is on him. All he can do is contest with length. Jaden Mcdaniels or Anthony Edwards should have that assignment. In a switch, it shouldn’t be onto Gobert.
Everyone remembers Rudy getting cooked by Luka but nobody remembers 6 seconds before that when Anthony Edwards had possession and could have dribbled the clock out but instead tried to drive, tripped in to a defender and panicked jumping in the air and sailing a pass out of bounds, turning the ball over to the Mavs with 9 seconds left in the game. When I saw people mentioning one and not the other, I was reminded just how ignorant the masses can be and how the likeable narrative takes precedent over what actually happened every single time. People blame the guy they like to blame, and protect the guys they like with a blatant bias.
Don’t mention how 1st team all defense McDaniels was basically a non factor that entire series against Luka. I think people forget how good these superstars are.
Absolutely right. And I would add that if we go back to 40 seconds from the end, Gobert defends in isolation on Doncic and the latter misses his basket. Concerning Ant and even Kat, on the first two games lost at home, both shot less than 30% in overall shooting... and indeed horrible end-of-game management while Gobert had two rather good first games. Then he didn't really recover from Luka's shot
Rudy's accomplished more + has made more money than EVERYONE on Gil's show, including Gil + he's not American, beating Americans every season for the awards they want to win. That's where the "hate" comes from obviously
@@DaDualityofManoff the court shaq is one of the softest athletes of all time. He said it himself he's mad Rudy's made 250 mil when he's only made 120 from playing. Shaqs always about the money it's why he does ads for anything.
I think the fact that all of his teammates and ex-teammates speak highly of him is very telling. Like this year in the playoffs Ant and all the other Timberwolves refused a postgame interview because Draymond was in the studio and he said some bullshit on Rudy few days prior.
Really overpaid for a skill that is very replaceable. Sure you won’t find a rim protector as good as him (I disagree personally but I’ll just say it to go with the point) but you can get 3-4 really good pieces instead of having an offensive/defensive liability, who’s ONLY skill is defending the rim.
He’s just being overpaid for someone who can only plays defense, and even then his defense doesn’t translate into winning in the PL,fuck it shout out to Naz Reid for defending Jokic pretty good in the WCSF
He keeps winning DPOY cause his teams are successful in the regular season but in the playoffs everyone exposes how bad he is compared to AD and Bam guarding perimeter players
Its the fact that rim protecting isn't considered as important anymore (by NBA fans). Because the games faster and more spaced the perimeter plays (defensive and offensive)are going to get more of a spotlight Just look at the DPOYs since '08. The only other ones that are ever contested nowadays are Tyson Chandler, and Gasol (Slower footed centers that anchored a defense exceptionally) for Dwight (athletic inside-out center) and LeBron (perimeter defender). The value of the anchoring rim protecting center that closes off the paint just isn't there for a lot of people anymore.
Yeah but those NBA fans are wrong. Rim protection is super important. It wins championships more often than not. You can go down the line of the last 20 champs (2004 to 2024) and you'll find the champs usually had great a formidable "slow center" or power forward anchoring the interior defense... if not, then you had a group of bigs that included a few slow guys. The exceptions are the Heatles and the Warriors, which were both superteams. - 2004 Pistons - Ben Wallace - 2005 Spurs - Duncan - 2006 Heat - Shaq - 2007 Spurs - Duncan - 2008 Celtics - KG, Big Baby, Perkins. - 2009 and 2010 Lakers - Pau Gasol and Bynum - 2011 Mavs - Chandler - 2014 Spurs - Duncan (they learned their lesson from 2013) - 2019 Raptors - Ibaka and Marc Gasol - 2020 Lakers - AD, Howard, and McGee - 2021 Bucks - Brook Lopez and Giannis - 2023 Nuggets - Joker took a big step forward in interior defense - 2024 Celtics - Horford and added KP to sure up the interior. You're absolutely right in that the game is faster and more spaced out, but one thing will never change. When it comes to the playoffs, everything gets tougher and you gotta go get easy buckets. The easiest buckets are by the rim, and if you can't get there, you're in deep trouble.
@@THE_BEAR_JEWthank you! People will bring up the warriors but in all honesty, who’s been able to replicate what the warriors have done offensively and the KD era was them just being offensively superior in every way compared to other teams
3:02 I’m convinced most of these players (Nick Young, Arenas, etc.) do not really know basketball. They view basketball as just 1v1 streetball. Over and over again they just ignore things like defense, efficiency, off ball movement, screening, rebounding or playmaking in favour of just playing flashy.
I love Shaq, but lets be real. He hates on every other center in the league. It's just a shame seeing Dwight also downplay Gobert the same way Shaq downplayed Dwight.
I respect Rudy. He got PAID doing something that only takes fucking effort. It’s not his fault American players would rather get out the league in 2-3 years rather than just lock in on that side of the floor.
Bro at all levels in American basketball. They don’t play a lock of defense but when it’s time to show the “bag” oh boy do they have stamina for days! Let’s not forget how sloppy the passes today have gotten. It’s completely awful imo.
@@Quentinthemudkip I agree entirely. It’s all about looking good and having some kinda “swag” to their game. We see every year a mass amount of uber athletic kids come into the league that think their shit doesn’t stink, find out just how average they are and STILL refuse to lock up on D. So instead of getting a bag, they go out the league after their rookie contract. Herb Jones is a more recent example of what kids should idolize. Found out he’s just “eh” on offense quick but decided he was gonna strap up with his athleticism and now all 30 teams in the league want him.
@@NZbo-.-.-614 This emphasis on scoring has always been a thing since the 2000's and mixtapes were easier to get a hold of, it's just that kids will always aspire to be like their favorite offensive players. Look at any of the most popular players of a generation, rarely are they legendary defenders and if they are (with the exception of MJ and Kobe) they're big men. It's just how we work, guys will always come in thinking they can out-athlete the nba, get humbled and make of it what they will, just look at all the guys who came in with hype in the 90's bc they can dunk crazy and how their careers fizzled out. Guys who like defense will always exist and get paid and there will always be guys who prefer flashy offense that don't get paid. Plus defense doesn't just require effort, it requires a shit ton of iq, reflexes, and physical capability that not everyone is cut for.
As a 46 year old Jazz fan and NBA diehard for life, I have mad respect for Rudy. If Javale McGee worked half as hard as him, he would be a 10 time all star… Do I wish he would have developed a sky hook? Yes. Can you imagine!? I screamed that at the tv for years watching him 😂. PS, you guys should do a video on Earl Boykins. Trust me. Geeked for the upcoming season, except for the Jazz… most boring team of the year award! Danny Ainge is compelling at least!!
The Wolves did pay a massive price to get him, and I like the house analogy. One thing I’ll point out, though, is that the move happened at roughly the same time as Dejounte going for three unprotected firsts, and Spida going for Lauri, Sexton, 3 unprotected firsts, and two pick swaps. Of the three trades, has any worked out better than Rudy to Minnesota? I get it, the price was steep. I’m saying that A) it was in line with the rest of the trades that summer where draft picks were undervalued, and B) it actually worked out for the Wolves.
And not all firsts are created equal. If you are expecting to go deep in the playoffs each year, those picks are gonna be ass. Picks that are outside the lottery are glorified 2nd round picks, because you are guessing at that point.
I know some people don't like Rudy Gobert because they think he's "soft" but I think he's actually pretty chill. But I think you guys were right, if it wasn't for his contract, I don't think Rudy Gobert would be spoken in a negative light at all.
I’m curious. If we’re judging who Gobert is compared to then the hate doesn’t necessarily make a whole lot of sense. He’s tied with Dikembe and Ben Wallace for DPOY, all three of them only play one side of the ball. The counter is typically Dwight, who was also offensively limited but could be physically dominant. It also seems that everyone is mad at what was required to get him and what he’s paid but he’s a number one rated defence, onto himself. That should be worth a haul. I think people need to question what ‘greatness’ should look like. If you’re mad about what he’s being paid, stay mad. Whoever comes after Gobert is gonna be paid. If it’s about his style, people have played like Gobert and been successful. If it’s about his personality and his gaffs as a person, then maybe ask yourself what the fuck that has to do Basketball. He plays, he’s paid and y’all might not like him because he’s French in all the worst ways 😂😂
Great comment. I also don't think people hate him because of the trade, because only wolves fans should care about that. I think they just bring it up as an excuse, or sour grapes that their team can't pawn off their problem player for a similar haul.
Gobert isn't Ben Wallace nor Dikembe just because they have similar accolades doesn't mean ppl will refer to them the same there are role players who have more rings then superstars not saying hate is justified ion mind Gobert he ight
Something about Rudy rubs certain players the wrong way and so they go out of his way to look for holes in his game as an excuse to hate on him. Probably just his success. Draymond hates him because he thinks he should get the DPOYs instead so he assaults him on court and trashes him online. Gil hates him because he's always been a euro hater. Shaq just realized Gobert made more money than him and is salty.
Granted, I’ve been a wolves fan since I’ve moved to Saint Paul in 2006. And as much turmoil that I’ve seen with this franchise (fuck off Khan) I don’t think I’ve seen a person wear a Timberwolves uniform that’s universally hated that Rudy Gobert. I’ve really liked him in Utah. Was I angry at the trade initially, yes but it felt like it was way too much, and I can admit I was scared. But Rudy is a damn good defensive player and people crap on his perimeter defense, but he actually gives effort and does the dirty work a lot of American players don’t do defensively…
He makes American players look bad. People stereotype that Foreign players aren't good on defense. But some of the best defenders in the league now, including Gobert, are foreign. So what makes American players special anymore?
My thing is that Gobert always becomes a liability in the postseason. Even Rachel Nichols said that while he’s great during the regular season, it’s different in the playoffs. And i think that’s what really frustrates players. Just imagine if say LeBron got his MVPs, but then every time it was the postseason, he’d no-showed. People would’ve started calling him overrated, especially if he had only made it to the conference finals once.

@@DaFactsNoNonsense1713hold up, are you saying that Curry has never hit a clutch shot? Or just that Curry hasn’t hit a clutch shot specifically over Irving? Lmao this has to be one of the dumbest, cherry picked opinions of the day.
Players are jealous of his contract and DPOYs. He's an all time rim protector that can get played off the floor when the other team goes small because he's unable to punish the lack of size on the offensive end.
They are not jealous of his contract nor his DPOYs Rudy is a liability on offense and it’s even that good of a 1 on 1 defender but he is an all time great rim protector and help defender
It's hard to take some player's opinions because they're extremely biased towards themselves. And the guys we're seeing it from do have some things in common such as worried about it in correlation to their own legacy or guys that constantly want to start drama.
Is he a tad overrated? Yes. Did he deserve 4 DPOY awards? Arguably not. Is any of that his fault? No. Rudy plays his game, the best he can, every game he can. He's yet another victim of the toxic, sensationalist nature of the NBA media and fandom, who can't enjoy the game and the players for what they are, but are constantly driven to build narratives around them that rarely hold up to reality.
Ah Shaq out there hating on big men again. When Beal is making the 5th most money... I don't wanna hear about Gobert's contract being an issue. the guy is gonna be 1/5 players earning $50M this year. The others are KD, Joker, Embiid, and Steph. So yeah, Beal should be the 1st name out of anyone's mouth when saying worst if we're basing it on contract.
When you keep getting DPOY your team having best defence in the league during regular season and still continue to not show up in the play offs you have to expect hate the last 2 years for the T wolves have been awesome but they haven't achieved anything it's going to come down to if rudy can prove he's a champion.
It’s be real most of the hate comes from Shaq 😂 Gobert and Simmons are overpaid sure but Gobert plays and Ben doesn’t so that means he does deserve that money but Gobert is only a defensive player which would be nice to add a midrange 😂
@DaFactsNoNonsense1713 Lmao how do AD and Bam suck every season. I don't necessarily agree that they deserve the DPOY's over him, but saying that they suck is absurd.
@@guangdong6805 what did they accomplish the past 2-3 seasons? This will answer your question in the simplest way possible! You are the one trying to glorify losing every season, like that's something good! Last time I checked, you losers LOVE it when Lebron wins awards, but Rudy wins them, somehow he didn't earn them, when the STATS say otherwise, no one's even close to what he's doing every season! So if Lebron deserves his stat-padding awards, then Rudy shouldn't get any criticism from anyone, since they're definitely not doing what he's doing every season, the past few years + none of these guys earned ANY awards during their careers (maybe Kenyon)
I think a lot of people tends to prefer offense vs defense and even if DPOY is a defensive award, as people favors offensive players they think Bam, AD or Wemby is better. Don,'t get me wrong, there are very close to each others but every year Rudy got the award, he was a better defender. Look at Duncan, never won a DPOY, one of the best defensive player of history but he never was the best defender of the regular season each year he played.
Human nature is like that. Like in the playground when the biggest bullies a kid, the others who are a bit average allow themselves to do the same. The herd effect. Gobert has no natural talent, no one thought he would have such a career and that is what makes him admirable. The average defensive ranking of Gobert's teams since he has played more than 30 minutes per game, that is to say over the last 9 seasons, is 5th. Is it luck? Maybe or not.
Gobert would probably be a superstar if he played like 20 years ago but he’s apart of dying breed and kinda a dinosaur archetype, I think that’s why he looks so bad, but I do think it’s weird a player with so many DPOTY can get exposed so much on defense in the playoffs
I believe that most of the negativity that follows Gobert is Hyperbole. Straight up. The man is a great defender and we have had many such great defenders in the past who weren’t gifted offensively but just got a pass because they were part of generational great teams. Fuck Shaq.
That’s nothing wrong with homie he’s giving u elite defensive and 14 to 16 points per game lol I guess his reputation is just bad idk he good in my books stop the hating
Rudy literally chilling and i haven't really seen him talking shi. Shaq decided to be a certified hater after his retirement. Lost all my respect for him.
Shaq hates ALL C, past, present & future! He was so lazy, he refused to develop a jumper like Ewing/Olajuwon + work on his free-throws, which would've made him a 50-60 pt/night, 20-30 Rebs/night, if he had dedicated himself! That alone would've made Shaq the greatest NBA-player EVER, but he didn't do it, so now he hates on ALL C, who have worked hard, to not be like him! That makes him feel really insecure about his career/status because he's worried that one of these kids are about to erase him from the history books because he can clearly see their talent, so his vocally concerned
For a guy as dominant as shaq was in his prime it always suprises me with just how sensitive he can be, he can dish out the disrespect but can never seem to take it.
@@drupieuwu2203I don’t like giving him the most “dominant” label bc he never even led the league in rebounds, which is crazy for the most dominant “ center of all time.
I thinj it’s his lack of offense that makes people hate on him. Which I don’t get cause he’s not meant to be your primary scorer. He’s not gonna get you 25pts a night and that’s okay, but people seem to crap on him for it.
People think anyone can do what he does. I don't understand pro players, who get paid more than teachers and firemen, and are so out of touch with reality when it comes to money, and then being so white girl jelly of someone else's paycheck.
Ok let's be real, players in the league and fans do not like Golbert because: a) He's French and has an European attitude to competition and the "dawg" mentality simply cannot understand it; b) Obviously he lacks a traditional skillset that are fun to watch and admire, like shooting, dribling, creative passing, being flashy (bro even runs funny); c) He actually ANNOYS other players with his defensive style & presence (only people who truly played know what this is about). It's not as simple as blocking your shot like a prime Dwight or being quicker / smarter than you like Olajuwon... He just gets between you and the rim and you ackwardly have to adjust your shot. You don't feel like "damn that's a hell of an athlete" you just feel like "what the hell did this weirdo do, I'm gonna run him over next time".
4 DPOYs is maybe one too many but there's no real reason why the dude should have as much hate and the fact that he does, at least to this level, is kind of odd. at the very least I think an opinion on Rudy is a good way to tell if someone actually knows ball or not
I think what makes him so controversial is that he lacks Aura. Hear me out. Most DPOY have that one thing. Rodman with the hair. Hakeem with the dream shake. Mutombo with the finger wag. Dwight with the Superman persona. Kawhi with the big hands. What does Rudy have? COVID? 😆
Dwight criticizes Rudy rightfully because Dwight was the Orlando defense. Rudy having 4DPOYs already is an insult to great big man defenders. It’s even an insult to players like DWade and Bron to me with them being wayy smaller and able to switch or defend the rim like they do. Rudy is pretty average but rotates well when he pays attention and he has the intangibles. Thats it lol
Stop it. Rudy's DPOYs are not an insult to great big man defenders, especially when he IS one. Dwight already has 3 consecutive DPOYs on his resumé, and he's crying about Rudy having only one more than him? That's his problem, not Rudy's. His criticism of Rudy is not rightful if the reason is more about Dwight than Rudy. D-Wade and LeBron never had the responsibility of anchoring their team's defense, nor were they always -if at all-considered the best defenders on their own teams, either.
@@urbaindelva7869 yea you don’t watch or listen closely enough from the last statement you made about Bron and Wade. And saying “only one more” as if 3 DPOYs isn’t astronomical is crazy. Rudy is so elite at defending the paint that his teams always good in the regular season. But in the playoffs he gets completely exposed when teams force him to guard smalls.
the same's true for EVERY elite-player in the NBA = look at Steph, Jokic, Luka, ANT & Donovan Mitchell = ALL of them getting scouted so heavy, by the time the playoffs comes around EVERY team has at least 4-5 schemes ready to shut them down only, which virtually eliminates them from the game-play everytime! This happens to Steph every playoffs, forcing someone else to step-up + this just happened to Luka/Jokic, where MIN shutdown Jokic, while BOS let Luka shoot as much a he wants, while he ignored that his points are NEVER the deciding factor in any of their wins #SoObvious
the other issue is that he has 4 DYOPs and he’s not that level of defender. he’s an incredible defender but 4 DYOPs is greatest of all time territory and he’s not there. plus the eye test is brutal lol. worst offensive player i can remember watching play.
And also, his defense doesn’t translate into winning in the PL,he always getting switched into Steph in 2017,Luka last year and….Terrance Mann in 2021 like Steph and Luka, obviously you can’t guard them, but Terrance Mann, seriously???
if he's not that level of defender, than what does that say about ALL of the other defenders, who don't come even close to winning this award every season??? Plus, what does that say about ALL of the offence Rudy stops from scoring??? You guys gotta think before you speak + be careful who you insult because most of the time you're not thinking about the bigger picture
@@DaFactsNoNonsense1713 i never said he wasn’t an excellent defender. he’s consistently a top 5 defender in the league. he’s great but he lacks versatility if he can’t sit in a drop and doesn’t have quality perimeter defenders along side him he can struggle. especially in the playoffs. when you compare him with a player like AD who can dominate in with any defensive scheme or personnel it’s easy to see why people get frustrated with him having 4 DYOPs. AD and Draymond (probably the best defenders of our era) have 1 combined. people are blinded by his incredible advanced stats. not to mention he gets to put 100% of his effort into the defensive end bc he’s a zero on offense. whereas the rest of the leagues best defenders have to play both sides. similar to how players like harden and luka can be a teams entire offense bc they take the defense possessions off.

To summarize everything, let’s just say his defense in the RS doesn’t translate into winnings in the PL because he’s always getting hunted 1 on 1 by some skilled players like Steph or Luka,he’s just like Harden 2.0 and tbf Harden has made into the WCF and a Finals,so yeah I definitely don’t want him on my team, specifically in the Playoffs
if Rudy's not apart of the offence, then what does he have to do with MIN not winning?? ANT + the rest of the team have to play better, while doing a better job of scouting their opponents before facing them because they clearly didn't do that this playoffs & it showed
flexing on other players after a single play looks fucking stupid. players celebrating nothing plays looks stupid. you arent special because you made a basket got a steal or a got a block . what matters is team wins. not player stats. individual stats dont make team sports great. fan takes are fucking trash
Gobert is the anti-hooper basketball player. A great defender, generational rim protector, with incredible instincts and the physicality to deal with anyone. But he doesn't have a "bag", isn't someone who can dribble or shoot in an NBA setting and his touch and passing is subpar, and that physicality means he isn't very agile. He's great at all the things casual basketball fans don't care and awful at those they respect.
Kyrie is better than Steph. He’s a better basketball player. Steph has a had the better career for sure and he can carry a team better. But pound for pound hooping it’s Kyrie. Kyrie is the most skilled ever
But “who would win in a 1v1” is a fundamentally different question than who is the better player. I would also argue that it’s a moot point who is more skilled at this point in the their careers. The only thing that matters is success, and Curry has had more of it.
Okay but if it doesn’t translate to wins, what does it matter? Curry is a way better floor general and draws so much attention from players that allows his teammates easier shots. At the end of the day, this is a TEAM game not a 1v1 league

He's trying his best to divide people talking about Lebron/MJ, when ALL of NBA-history is documented on video! Anyone with a functioning brain, with two working eyes/ears, knows that the 90's NBA-players were more athletic, more talented + had more skills than these guys do! The only difference is the rules, the times + the technology! The rules make it so these guys don't have to play defence + they shoot more, while not having a higher 3-point shooting-percentage or ball-IQ (this got exposed in the Olympics MULTIPLE times within THIS era of the NBA) than Steve Kerr, who retired over 20-years ago! The times are different since they fly on private jets, have facilities dedicated to keeping them healthy, nutrition they don't pay for immediately + they have a ready-made lifestyle, setup for them to keep them focused on playing basketball, not getting in trouble! Plus, coaches DID NOT like SHOOTING in the 90's or previously! So players didn't shoot a lot of 3's vs. going to the bucket A LOT more + the "3-point line" was still new to basketball, where NCAA/FIBA, didn't even have a permanent 3-point line in their leagues yet, in the early 90's + not shooting was taught from pee-wee leagues, all the way up to college/NBA, throughout North America, pre-1996! So guys shoot more now + don't get hand-checked or elbow-checked, which allowed defenders to easily guide their cover into the play, which hindered scoring a lot more, which meant lower scores! The technology has players recovering from severe injuries, much faster than in the past! Players break bones, tear ligaments, but can recover fast enough to continue playing that season vs. the past, those injuries would have players out of the rest of the season, guaranteed! Plus, players have personal-trainers, strength-conditioning coaches + personal chefs, who keep them fit, which wasn't even a "thing" back then! Most teams didn't even have a "weight-room" in the 90's + most players didn't even workout like that back then either! You're welcome

There’s nothing “divisive” about Rudy, since his teammates have never had anything negative to say about him at all, on either of the teams he’s played for! The media is trying to be divisive, trying to tear teams apart because they don’t want them impeding the success of the teams they like more/most

I think people forget how good these superstars are.
how does ant messing up related to rudy being cheffed up
Absolutely right.

He started covid in the nba
He’s just being overpaid for someone who can only plays defense, and even then his defense doesn’t translate into winning in the PL,fuck it shout out to Naz Reid for defending Jokic pretty good in the WCSF
French
He keeps winning DPOY cause his teams are successful in the regular season but in the playoffs everyone exposes how bad he is compared to AD and Bam guarding perimeter players
Its the fact that rim protecting isn't considered as important anymore (by NBA fans). Because the games faster and more spaced the perimeter plays (defensive and offensive)are going to get more of a spotlight
Just look at the DPOYs since '08.
- 2004 Pistons - Ben Wallace
- 2005 Spurs - Duncan
- 2006 Heat - Shaq
- 2007 Spurs - Duncan
- 2008 Celtics - KG, Big Baby, Perkins.
- 2009 and 2010 Lakers - Pau Gasol and Bynum
- 2011 Mavs - Chandler
- 2014 Spurs - Duncan (they learned their lesson from 2013)
- 2019 Raptors - Ibaka and Marc Gasol
- 2020 Lakers - AD, Howard, and McGee
- 2021 Bucks - Brook Lopez and Giannis
- 2023 Nuggets - Joker took a big step forward in interior defense
- 2024 Celtics - Horford and added KP to sure up the interior.
You're absolutely right in that the game is faster and more spaced out, but one thing will never change. When it comes to the playoffs, everything gets tougher and you gotta go get easy buckets. The easiest buckets are by the rim, and if you can't get there, you're in deep trouble.

For real, a lot of players, and a lot of casual fans, value 1 on 1 street ball more than winning basketball.

He's a niche player. Not a superstar so Wolves are going to regret the price of that contract. But he is good at that niche.

It’s weird, I feel like dikembe was a really similar player with comparable production and he never took remotely the kind of heat Rudy does
Ben Wallace wasn't good on offense either. Hell, Dwight was bashed for being a run and dunk center on offense as well. It's pure haterade.
Because Dikembe wasn’t viewed as a liability just because he didn’t score a lot.
He didn't take the player option and will be on a more team friendly contract next year! so happy about that
Granted, I’ve been a wolves fan since I’ve moved to Saint Paul in 2006. And as much turmoil that I’ve seen with this franchise (fuck off Khan)
I don’t think I’ve seen a person wear a Timberwolves uniform that’s universally hated that Rudy Gobert.
I thought it was going to be Ben Simmons 😂
Or Patrick Beverly
My thing is that Gobert always becomes a liability in the postseason. Even Rachel Nichols said that while he’s great during the regular season, it’s different in the playoffs. And i think that’s what really frustrates players.
Just imagine if say LeBron got his MVPs, but then every time it was the postseason, he’d no-showed. People would’ve started calling him overrated, especially if he had only made it to the conference finals once.
Hot take: Jarrett Alan, Evan Mobley, Wemby, Anthony Davis and maybe even Bam are all better defenders than Rudy.

"One he's foreign...that hurts players"
Rudy Gobert is my favorite player
Ah Shaq out there hating on big men again. When Beal is making the 5th most money... I don't wanna hear about Gobert's contract being an issue.
the guy is gonna be 1/5 players earning $50M this year. The others are KD, Joker, Embiid, and Steph. So yeah, Beal should be the 1st name out of anyone's mouth when saying worst if we're basing it on contract.

Its no way Gobert is worse than Roy Hibbert
Honestly on the 1v1 Gobert is too damm big to move that much when getting crossed
I believe that most of the negativity that follows Gobert is Hyperbole. Straight up. The man is a great defender and we have had many such great defenders in the past who weren’t gifted offensively but just got a pass because they were part of generational great teams. Fuck Shaq.

That alone would've made Shaq the greatest NBA-player EVER, but he didn't do it, so now he hates on ALL C, who have worked hard, to not be like him! That makes him feel really insecure about his career/status because he's worried that one of these kids are about to erase him from the history books because he can clearly see their talent, so his vocally concerned

a) He's French and has an European attitude to competition and the "dawg" mentality simply cannot understand it;
b) Obviously he lacks a traditional skillset that are fun to watch and admire, like shooting, dribling, creative passing, being flashy (bro even runs funny);
c) He actually ANNOYS other players with his defensive style & presence (only people who truly played know what this is about). It's not as simple as blocking your shot like a prime Dwight or being quicker / smarter than you like Olajuwon... He just gets between you and the rim and you ackwardly have to adjust your shot. if Rudy's not apart of the offence, then what does he have to do with MIN not winning?? ANT + the rest of the team have to play better, while doing a better job of scouting their opponents before facing them because they clearly didn't do that this playoffs & it showed
@@channguyencao So Gobert was supposed to guard Mann at the three point line AND guard the paint?
Rudy having more DPOYs then Tim Duncan, KG, Shaq and Hakeem is still wild to me.
Not his fault.
facts
flexing on other players after a single play looks fucking stupid. players celebrating nothing plays looks stupid. you arent special because you made a basket got a steal or a got a block . what matters is team wins. not player stats. individual stats dont make team sports great. fan takes are fucking trash
Goobert
God, that advance stats shit is so fucking stupid
cool
Gobert is in the wrong era. Even so, he does his job well.
Remember when he punched Kyler Anderson during the last game of the season
Gobert is the anti-hooper basketball player. A great defender, generational rim protector, with incredible instincts and the physicality to deal with anyone. But he doesn't have a "bag", isn't someone who can dribble or shoot in an NBA setting and his touch and passing is subpar, and that physicality means he isn't very agile.
He's great at all the things casual basketball fans don't care and awful at those they respect.
so he should take away from ANT's offence/touches, to make you feel some type of way about him??? Make this make sense to intelligent adults
You only say that curry is better because of rings. One on one Kyrie is better then Steph
Okay but if it doesn’t translate to wins, what does it matter? Curry is a way better floor general and draws so much attention from players that allows his teammates easier shots. At the end of the day, this is a TEAM game not a 1v1 league
Last time I checked Nba is a team basketball league
I honestly don't know why ppl hate on Gobert so much. He's legitimately the best center in the NBA rn. And it's not even close.
100% he clears joking, bam, embiid and Ad (is what I would say if I was on crack)
He is the reason some people don’t respect 7 footers.
Ya, winning awards every year is something you shouldn’t respect obviously! You guys are so smart 🤡🤦🏾😭😂🤣🙄👎🏾
@@DaFactsNoNonsense1713 Ya, cause I made the video. You are so smart.
@@stizanley3987 I am, so are you saying you're not? 😆🤣🤣😂Maybe you should go retake an English-class in high-school, so you can comprehend "basic" English, a bit better #imjustsayin This was embarrassing for you + the ONLY person being "divisive" associated with the NBA is Gil Arenas!
Gobert the reason why DMitch left my Jazz
That’s not true obviously + DM a non-factor in the league! Rudy’s going to win a Championship before him for sure
DMitch not playing a lick of defence despite being more than capable isn't Goberts fault. Mitch was already checked out of that Jazz team 2 years before he left

I mean, he's been given a lot of gifts for being a defensive anchor which he does maximize and good for him but he's such a liability on authents it's not even funny. That's not even including the fact that this is a guy who went to France after covid started really spreading got covid then started fucking touching everybody's microphones and their lockers and their clothes and their cars and their keys and their wallet and their shoes and their shorts and gave almost everybody fucking covid. And then proceeded to be upset that his teammates were pissed off at him because he got them sick.
You're stupid if you think Gobert got NBA players sick. Covid went all over the world in 2 weeks, and I know NBA players weren't more careful than average. People who had the vaccine still got covid, how the hell do you think it wasn't gonna happen? NBA was never gonna be able to stay open, and it was stupid of them to try.
Clowns like Shaq hate on him because he's a black French player who has made double what Shaq did in his playing career. The old heads in basketball are terrible for the sport they just hate non stop on the current players
Yeah, I hate Shaq's hating ways. He is just as bad as Lebron's Klutch agency trying to hate on older players. Haterade is poison.
That’s nothing wrong with homie he’s giving u elite defensive and 14 to 16 points per game lol I guess his reputation is just bad idk he good in my books stop the hating
