@@HannaHsOverInvested I don’t know if you’ll see this message but I just wanted to mention, a nice thing about this game is regardless of if you start out as a Jedi or a sith you can still choose which side of the force your character follows as you play the game (an example would be playing as a character who slowly turns to the light side even though they were raised to be a sith). Also the reason the trailers don’t have characters you should know is because there’s 8 separate storylines in the base game so rather than only show some of them the decided to instead show how the situation in the game came to be the way it is. While this means that no storylines are given special treatment it also means that we don’t know too much about the story and have to learn as we play (not that that’s a bad thing)
@@guntherhess227 mmo part was great. Game isn’t dead. It lacks good multiplayer content. And has absolutely horrid servers. Plus we get the smallest content packs every 2-3 years. It’s just not fair whereas other mmos get spammed with content all year. Now I do agree it’s not as big as before but not dead. I love starship battles in that game they’re much more fun than battlefront
I really enjoyed/enjoy my time playing because of all the story stuff, and if I need to kill 1000 puny lil republic troopers to get to my damn story marker, then cowabunga it is lol
If that's what you think, it's time for a new game. Yeah, I've played SWTOR at two separate times. I've played Ultima Online. I've played Asheron's Call and AC 2. I've played CoH and CoV. I've played Star Wars Galaxies. I've played Shadowbane. I've played Warhammer Online. I've played Eve Online. I've played Earth and Beyond. I've played WoW at three different times. The thing they all had in common? When I no longer enjoyed the game and it felt like I was just grinding, I moved on.
Something cool you might not have noticed: the girl jedi, the trooper with the big gun, and the Pale Bald Sith in the first trailer are all recurring characters in the other two trailers after it. They're compiled chronologically, so when you see them later, they're older.
1)This cinemamatics takes place 3600 years before the films. The 1st Sith Empire has disappeared since the Great War of hyperspace, the Mandalorian wars, the Sith empire of Revan and Malak and the triumvirate sith (Darth Nihilus, Darth Traya and Darth Sion) for hundreds of years. During these last three conflicts, the 2nd Sith Empire, led by Darth Vitiate, was preparing the invasion of republican space. This invasion begins in this cinematic. A fleet led by Lord Vindican and his apprentice Darth Malgus is storming Korriban, the birthplace of the Sith. The two Jedi are the zabrak Jedi master whose name I have forgotten and his padawan Satele Shan (descendant of Revan), they are accompanied by Commander Jace Malcom and smugglers Nico Carr. In the end, Malgus kills Vindican 2)This cinematics takes place about ten years after "return". The war rages and Alderann is threatened. The sith assault is led by Malgus, he is then confronted with Satele Shan and Jace Malcom. The Republic wins the battle but is greatly weakened. 3)The war rages without any winner standing out. The Empire and Vitiate then propose a peace to the Republic. The leaders of both parties are meeting on a neutral planet to discuss it. Meanwhile, under Vitiate’s orders, Malgus is leading a sith fleet for Coruscant: the goal is to weaken the republic and destroy the Jedi order before the peace treaty is signed. Malgus is accompanied by Mandalorian Shae Vizla (future Mandalore). The operation is a success: the Jedi order and its main masters are no longer, Coruscant is ravaged and the treaty despite it signed. The Cold War begins. The history of the game takes place 38 after the peace treaty. The remaining Jedi have taken refuge on Tython under the aegis of Jedi master Satele Shan. Malgus is a member of the Black Council. A rumor will spread that Vitiate is dead, the Black Council will take the direction of the council but Malgus will self-proclaim himself Emperor. His attempt will fail. But that’s another story. 4)The father’s name is Valkorion, the twins are Arcann and Thexhan, his sons. Valkorion is the emperor of the eternal empire, a new faction that developed into an empire in unknown regions. In reality Valkorion is the emperor Sith Vitiate who disappeared for hundreds of years. Seeing that the war between Empire and Republic was leading nowhere, he decided to create a "perfect" empire that will defeat the Republic and Empire (then led by the Black Council. 5)After Valkorion (or not) died, his daughter Vaylin took over with Arcann. This cinematic summarizes her origins tory
Zabrak Jedi in first trailer is Battle Master of the order and his name is Kao Cen Darach: Also Sacking of Coruscant was done to use as a trump card in that meeting to force republic to withdraw from several worlds. and to not attack EMpire giving Empire time to regain and consolidate forces. Satele is Grandmaster of the Order and Malgus is a member of Dark Council. Also SWTOR begins actually 10 years after sacking of Coruscant and sighning of treaty
"I don't like him" Yep, that's Emperor Valkorion for you, the guy is literally a genocidal maniac that pushed all 3 of his kids to darkness, well 1 died, and killed BILLIONS across more or less a thousand years (yes, he is kinda immortal). The twins and the blond girl from the last trailer are all kids from the same mother, Senya, that woman from the last trailer.
''Is he a good guy?'' Oh boy... not even a little In his pursuit of immortality he has consumed all life on 2 planets (maybe 3) one of which was his own home world
@@TuriusRay not at all. Just the major baddie from basically the beginning of the game. Way too much to go over in a comment section LOL. Search 'Valkoriaon Explained (The Immortal Emperor" and you'll find what you need to know.
@@TuriusRay He's the Immortal/ Sith Emperor. Lived for over 5000 years (iirc); ruled over the Sith in secret for almost as long, and is the major antagonist in several class stories and the major overarching story. His Sith name is Vitiate; the face we attribute to him above is that of Valkorion-the body of a human champion that he'd stolen quite a long time ago. He reveals that he created the Immortal Empire in his absenses from the Sith as his passion project, and abandons the Sith Empire entirely. At this point in the game, he is grooming his sons and has sealed away his (much stronger, bat-shit insane force sensitive) daughter; the stronger of the two sons would be his new body (which is why he waited to acknowledge the one that killed the other).
@@TuriusRay No,iirc the final boss in the Jedi Knight campaign was his first lieutenant. He's a bad enough dude the most famous fallen Jedi this side of Vader tried to conquer the Old Republic to stand a chance to fight him, and that an ancient sith lord defects for a chance to stop him. He's THAT big of a deal.
Well, sort of. Maul's skin is red, the black are tattoos. It's a cultural thing. Or at least, that's how The Old Republic game presents it when one creates Zabrak characters. Imperial Zabraks have more red skin tones to work with while Republic Zabraks have more brown skin tones. The Imperial skin tones harken back to Maul, while the Republic one goes back to one of the available companions in SWTOR 2. This was later ignored in Clone Wars when we get to meat Maul's brother, Savage Opress, who was brown-skinned.
@@Charistoph You're correct, they come from Iridonia originally and they have various skin colours. The red ones in particular are often put in the same group with the red skinned Twileks by common people within the galaxy and are called Lethans. Although the term Lethan is correct only for the red skinned Twileks. Plenty use them to describe a member of a species that is red skinned.
@@Charistoph In both legends and canon Maul is what's called a Dathomirian Zabrak. There existence is due from a generation of Iridonian Zabrak males being brought to Dathomir by slavers. They were sold to the Night sisters and were used for breeding. After several generations of breeding and their form of Sith alchemy zabrak males born on Dathomir gained their red and yellow skin color. While the tattoos are to my knowledge only done with Dathomirian Zabraks.
@@Ardizel, except the red and brown skinned zabraks have connections to 1000 generations before Maul and Savage, if the standards of The Old Republic can be used.
The epic Jedi woman, is Satele Shan, leader of the "Jedi faction" in the game. Also some relation to previous Bioware games. The dude she shoved into the mountain, and who kills his master in the first trailer, is Darth Malgus, leader of the "Sith faction" in the game. He's also in the third, but with a mask then. The soldier (trooper) is Jace Malcom, first and foremost there as a representation of the Trooper class within the game, but also appears in game. If you want to know more of them, after you've seen the trailers, you can search them up on Star Wars fandom wiki. There is alot of info there. The last trailers are from an expansion of the main game. It's about a third faction, who is neither good or bad. They just want the universe for themselves. The women in those trailers are the mother of the twins and the girl. The ominous guy is the father.
@@kyndread71 Bad expansion and bad writing. Wiped out every single one of them because of how annoying their stupid family drama was and the multiple counts of planetary wide that genocide each and every one of them was responsible for.
For Darth Maul, the Red was his skin and the black was all tattoos; Sith (and a few other groups/races/species/etc.) were well known for tattooing, and the Sith applied theirs oftentimes through extremely painful Sith Sorcery. If memory serves it could sometimes be equated as (surface area = badassery) since they basically were tortured in their application
Star Wars always had a real amazing idea with the whole “dark side” thing, instead of just being an emotion, in the star wars universe it’s like an affliction, a disorder even, people that give into their anger just become sick with rage and hatred. Its crazy.
And it's magnitudes worse depending on one's affinity to the Force. Regular people get angry all the time, but Force sensitives getting angry open up connections to the dark side. Like when one of the twins gets briefly overcome with anger and his eyes even glow orange, only getting a hold of himself after the deed was already done. It's really a fascinating concept.
well.. I did* warn ya about the sound in one of my comments 🤣. Anw, yeah alot of context is missing but I’ll try to shed some light without going overboard for at least the twins (and their sis’s) story. So.. 1) their dad is the biggest baddy for the game’s story(at least for this arc) 2) they are part of third faction where the dad is the emperor who has grand plans to conquer everything (so they just go out and beat everyone else up as seen from the flags and the lightsabers of the leaders from both the Empire and the Republic) 3) the twins are just instruments of his plans. So he has been manipulating them their whole lives; being cold, unloving, distant, indifferent, etc; 4) he did expect one of them to kill the other, so they could not oppose his authority together if it came down to it 5) their sis was not part of the dad’s plan initially because the mum tried to keep her powers on the down low 6) unfortunately, dad found out so the girl is part of his plans now (she’s the most powerful amongst the siblings so he had her powers toned down - tattoo ritual and shaving head scene). Further tidbits: - their lightsabers don’t follow the general rule (red is bad, blue is good) because they dont follow in the Jedi/Sith religion. (But they still use the force) - mum is badass because she’s one of the personal guards that protect the emperor (her husband) -if you must know the names Valkorion - Dad, evil emperor Thexan - dead twin Arcann - other twin Vaylin - sis Senya - mum if you’ve read this far, beautiful intro for this vid and thanks for that 🙂
Yellow is generally the color denoting a Jedi Sentinel, one whose strengths between force powers and physical prowess are balanced. Green is used for Jedi Consulars (skilled users of force powers), and blue for Jedi Knights (those who are master swordsmen). Mace Windu had a purple saber simply because Sam Jackson wanted a cool purple lightsaber lol. I've not played TOR, but I do know that Tin is correct, the Eternal Empire fights to conquer both the Republic and the Sith, so in that way you could see that their use of yellow sabers denotes a balance between light/dark. Whether the users are also skilled as Sentinels is not something I know.
Pretty sure Valkorion knew about Vaylin's power since birth, he just chose not to do anything about it until she signs of mental instability and inability to control her powers
Radioactive Taco Yea for sure. Valkorian is the most force sensitive/ powerful being in the universe at this time period so it should have been easy for him to detect a force sensitive.
I haven't played the game in a while but this is the best I remember. The twins are that little girl's older brothers the "wasp" and the old dude are their parents. The old dude is the emperor of the eternal empire they're pretty much hostile to Jedi and Sith.
@@johnj4471 It's not that confusing. You can boil it down to "powerful guy born in the sith empire and that found a way to become immortal toys with different civs to fuel his immortality and play god to create the "perfect" empire to serve him by snatching bodies".
"I don't like Him". Yepp Emperor Valkorion is not the most likable dude. Too bad you never played KOTOR and SWTOR. The story is much deeper than that of the SW films. May I recommend to you the short fan film "Old Republic: Rescue Mission". All aside these trailers have better storytelling each than the whole new trilogy combined :)
The story may be deeper, but the UI is more evil than Tenebrae himself. Mission Alerts? WHY ARE THOSE LOCATED IN THE COMPANION TAB??? I love both the Knights DLCs, but come on... that was a terrible UI decision.
@@reaperinsaltbrine5211 I don't mind the grind. It's not a stressful grind like other games. SWTOR is the perfect way to relax after a ten hour work shift. Finally achieved legendary status on my main account after two years slowly meandering through the stories.
The Zabrak race is actually divided between two planets Iridonia and Dathomir. Those who settled on Iridonia tend to develop lighter skin tones and those who settled on Dathomir tend to develop red, yellow, or orange skin colors. Maul as you may have guessed is from Dathomir. As far as that tattoo question as a society zabrak used facial tattoos to identify personal identity and sometimes family ties this occurred in both the Iridonian and Dathomirian Zabraks.
That's just a theory, Iridonian Zabraks can develop all skin tones. Those on Dathomir can develop mutations if taken over by the dark side and are prone to darker skin colours. Although Fallen Order, which is canon(meh...) does display a lot of lighter skinned Zabraks. Which means it's more of a genetic / force, than place of residence thingy.
20:57 "Really? Well, why the Hell did you do that?" That's a complicated question: The Dark Side of the Force isn't just temptation like we deal with in our daily lives. The Force is *ALIVE* and it wants to be used. When driven to a blind rage, the Dark Side takes control and Forces people to do truly evil things.
I'de like to add that lightsabers sometimes reflect their affiliation and belief to the force. though this excludes as playing as the character in the video game, which allows you to color your own light saber the way you want it. Red has been a symbol of the Sith. which means Power Blue is the symbol of Jedi, which means Peace Other colors like Orange, another Sith affiliated color, which means Passion. and Green as a Jedi color, represents Serenity. Yellow has been a natural phase of the force sensitive, meaning they don't align with neither jedi or sith beliefs. either they are attempting to understand it, or otherwise that they disagree with both sides. Perhaps a lawful order that doesn't apply to the concept of good and evil. as a little trivial addition, purple has not been a intended light saber color, Samuel Jackson personally asked for a different color light saber to impress his son in the movies so that when his son asks where his dad is "That's me right there holding the purple light saber." though that isn't always to the case, but it is however heavily considered, star wars authors tend to make up characters and quote "a lightsaber reflects the wielders persona or affiliation most of the time." which makes it easier for readers or viewers to understand the characters personality or intent when the light saber is drawn. to ask if the Sith , or even the Jedi are bad is entirely subjective. the Siths actions are considered cruel and evil. but they still fight and serve the empire and whats best for the empire. given that a few corrupted ones wanted to kill the competitors for authority and dominance, or rot the empire from within (such as racism, as conquering other planets without pity or remorse for the residents) as the player, you get to decide and represent those actions as good or evil. Even the Jedi can be hated as well due to their naive and peaceful nature. they're hesitant to take action when its dire, they would choose to abandon or turn away peaceful propositions such as refugees asking for help from monsters or raiders that threaten their residents because they were considered immigrants. and this in turn makes a few communities hate the Jedi for not saving them when they needed it most.
I'm sorry but that's not true, any color but red are naturally occurring Kayber crystals. Sith took these crystals and bled them with the dark side, turning the crystals red. In legends there might be some unbelievably rare Kaybers that were naturally red but that's unicorn level. They did not signify the force user's alignment to the force simply because lightsabers were exclusive to Sith and Jedi as a 99% rule. There were some "cults" if you will that used light sabers but those were pretty much splinters from the Jedi or Sith. Why? Because those groups held the secrets to building a lightsaber. And because wielding one as a non Jedi or Sith made you a pretty big target, essentially making it too risky.
@@annahenrietta9517 Nothing you said was false, but unrelated and irrelevant to my statement. mine is more of an outside perspective of the story where yours is on the inside of it. Not like Im saying these light saber colors are strictly affiliated to the Jedi or sith rule. I'm saying it reflects the wielders personality or morality. those who wield a blue light saber, tend to seek peaceful or civil paths. Like how Anakin or Obi wan seek peaceful solutions to end wars, conflicts, and show their loyalty to the Galactic Republic. or like how Yoda or Qui-Gon Jin's green lightsaber express Jedi or light side philosophy that indicate their dedication to the force. This is essentially the reference and inspiration the writers took when they expanded KOTOR followed by The Old republic.
@@HeyPachuco Yeah, I seem to have misread your post. Jedi did give a meaning to the colours, although not all Jedi believed that or followed it. Some simply chose their kyber by means of the Force. I.E the first kyber they found was meant so by the force so they accepted it.
The whole story of Vaylin is really sad. When her powers started to manifest it caused a rift between Valkorion (her father) and Senya (her mother). This tore the family apart, and Vaylin was taken away to a planet where there is no Force energy and subjected to years of mind-bending psychic torture so Valkorion could shut down her powers, because she was stronger than him and he felt threatened by her.
“And then what happened” Well... Uh... That depends on the player to some extent but, Vaylin is consumed by rage, insanity and hatred. She’s been tortured and brainwashed because she was too powerful for her own safety and the safety of entire planets. When valkorion dies, her brother Arcan, the boy in white, becomes Emperor. She assumes an advisory role to him but when he is defeated in battle by the player, Vaylin becomes Empress. She is betrayed several times and reaches a point beyond saving, even by her own mother. Vaylin dies at the Battle of Odessus, alone and believing herself unloved. Depending on player choices her spirit dies return and is kind-of redeemed, and she destroys the spirit of her dead father to prevent him from returning and wreaking havoc on an already unstable galaxy.
she wasn't tortured she was trained, she wasn't brainwashed she wanted power from the begining. Volkron didn`t corrupt Vailen, she was the ultimate heir to the emperor :)

@@snoopy12555 That’s not the reason he gave, nor is it the reason presented in the story. The reason he gave for having kids was he had started to soften and wanted to experience more than just power, death and destruction. He ALSO states quite clearly that he is the Eternal Emperor, immortal ruler of Zakuul and only he will sit upon the Eternal Throne. That’s right after he smashes your mind to pieces and attempts to possess your body... So no, he didn’t plan to be replaced and his children were the result of him playing with some of his human emotions before discarding them entirely.
The problem with the first few trailers might be that you aren't introduced to any characters, just "archetypes" for the classes in the game. Even the two somewhat relevant characters don't get much development. For the DLC they instead gave you some backstory about the characters you'd encounter. That kind of focus can make the difference between a history lesson and a story..
The ones you're asking "are they the good guys.". No, lol. The old guy is literally on of if not the most evil, and powerful sith in all of Legends Canon. Imagine what emperor Palpatine did in the movies. But that guy figured out how to live forever, and has been ruling as Emperor for over a thousands years.
Im sure someone has stated this before me. Darth Maul as well as the Red Skinned Sith Lady, that is not makeup, they are Sith Tattoos. To state the Wookieepedia here: "The term Sith tattoo referred to a number of different types of body markings that were used by followers of the dark side order and its factions. (...)The application of Sith tattoos was painful, owing to the fact that they were applied via Sith pincerbugs."
Yea this MMO takes place thousands of years before the movies, so you’re basically meant to know nothing. Also no, Darth Maul just looked like that. His species is called Zabrak.
@@Charistoph I mean, if we're to follow genetics you could have all kind of shades, if a red skinned Zabrak mated with a very pale Zabrak you could end up with a rosey human like skinned child. the story of this game is so good and so captivating. I was so invested while playing and I cannot wait to see where to story goes in the next expansions
Dunno if anyone put it in here, but this is about 4000 years before the first Star Wars movie. At this time the Sith are a full empire with thousands of Sith Lords all working on betraying each other. Eventually under Darth Bane made the "Rule of Two": Master and Apprentice. One to have power, one to crave power. This was also the period where the Mandalorians had engaged on a full war against the Jedi and the Republic. In the 4th one they are part of the Eternal Empire who was founded by the Sith Emperor in exile to fight the Jedi and the Sith.
Yes! I was waiting for these! I thought we'd see one at a time, but got them all at once, bonus! Those last 2 are the ones I thought of when I suggested these a while back. Thank you for doing them and I hope you enjoyed them. When you mentioned Darth Maul, it made me wonder if you've seen the Clone Wars and Rebels animated shows. If not, I'd highly recommend them; start with Clone Wars (there's a theatrical released one that starts it off, then the T.V. series takes it from there) and then move on to Rebels. They tell Darth Maul's story incredibly well along with A LOT of other fantastic stories surrounding Anakin, Obi-Wan, and others that you are familiar with from the movies. The first season of Clone Wars is a little rough, but during the 2nd season it really takes off. I'm sure people would love to see your reactions to these beloved shows. Also, your into here is wonderful. Thank you for being a positive voice on an important topic. I hope you never stop sharing your words and wisdom. -Zep
In the original SWTOR game (the one covered by the first three trailers) you get a team of five companions who go with you on the journey and at the beginning of the Knights of the Eternal Throne story (the fourth trailer) these companions get scattered across the galaxy and you have to slowly bring them back together as well as gather new friends. There's one companion I really liked who remains MIA for most of the story. I left the game years ago but recently came back when I found out they finally brought back that character. However, after all these years I'm starting to realize, this game has not not aged well.
These cinematics were meant to help sell the online game. (LOL. You have to play the game to find out what happens) Just watching these you wouldn't know these characters but it's to introduce you to them. You do run I to them in the game. It's also meant to demonstrate the classes and skills you can have in the game. In the timeline of Star Wars this all takes place thousands of years before the movies your familiar with. The animated series is canon and is part of the Star Wars story arch. They are also, story wise, awesome. I highly recommend watching all of Star Wars the Clone Wars followed by rebals. They fill in a lot of gaps during and between the movies. The movie Rogue One will make more sense if you've seen Rebels first, and both it and Solo fall into the time line of Rebels.
Haven’t seen anyone mention this, so in reference to your joke about Darth Maul at the beginning, the red skin and black tattoos are a dark side thing with Zabrak. As opposed to some makeup they just put on every morning. 😂
Fun fact about color coding the lightsabers. Your comment about not knowing whos who, is the exact reason why Samuel L JAckson specifically wanted a purple lightsaber. hes said in mulitple interviews he said he wanted to know which one he was so he wanted purple.
Maybe this is not too far from the reality since we're getting some kind of reform in there. "Lucas returns" and shit like this, i'm not too well informed but i know the Kathleen Kennedy trilogy probably was less successful to the end of it, so going back to the more classic stuff is something preferrable for the franchise.
@@kyndread71 And when they started trying to drench star wars in politics! Star wars is an escape not a political platform! "The force is female" Killed star wars for so many fans man, The force is for everyone, star wars was always inclusive, even in the 70s! It didn't need to be "Woke"!
So the first 3 cinematics Return, Hope, and Betrayed they are the trailers which are meant to establish essentially the two main NPC (non-playable characters) in the lore of Jedi Satele Shan (descendant of the very powerful Jedi Master Bastila Shan, and Jedi/Sith Revan) and the main antagonist of the series Darth Malgus. The following two trailers for Knights of the Fallen Empire, and Knights of the Eternal Throne are trailers that were dropped for the DLC additions to the game under the exact same names which established Arcann (the living twin) Valkorian (stoic guy who always turns his back to the twins) Senya Tirall (mom of the twins and mother of the little girl being saved) and Vaylin (the little girl) into the series and the Kingdom of Zakuul in which Valkorian is established as the Sith Lord which has been wreaking havoc on the galaxy for 1500 years. He took other names such as Vitiate, and Tenebrae but all 3 are the exact same person just in different bodies. It along with the stories of Darth Revan are some of the most lore filled, iconic stories of the Star Wars franchise.
One thing I gotta give them props for is, or at least was when it was just the trailers with the twins and their father, they really moved away from clear good guys/bad guys to more just people in situations, even if that didn't hold up as much in the actual game.
"does yellow not mean good?" nope, you can also play full on evil with a green or purple lightsaber if you want to. just most sith seem to find red "cooler".
A little background about the trailers: the first one is the overall starting cinematic. The point where it all started. Second one is playing whenever you create a Republic character, and the third one if you create an Empire character. (Btw, There is a book that plays at and after the event of said third trailer, called Deceived.) Fourth and fifth are for the 3rd and 4th expansion of the game. Aka the point where the game became a total grind fest for Galactic Assault mode. 19:40 oh, and that's not make-up. This is a Twi'lek, and they mostly have some kind of pattern on their skin.
These events happen about 3000 years before the movies start . It occurs in a time where the Jedi and Sith were at the height of their power. I’m going to name few characters as they were canonical before Disney bought the property. First is Satele, she’s the Jedi whose clothing you liked, she is the descendant of two Jedi (Revan and Bastila who were in a previous game) and your character meets her when she’s about 30 years older and has a grown son of her own. Then there’s Darth Malgus he’s the Sith Lord that kills Satele’s master and whom she later fights in the forest. He’s the main antagonist of the base game.
Those small movies is just a tip of iceberg. You need to play everything cuz there is wast amount of stuff to see and it’s gorgeous. And what's more to it - every class needed to be played twice because of light/dark way.
darth maul is a zabrak and they can come in different colors red/black and this brown/ tan color. All this takes place way before all the movies that are out. Also last 2 trailers is a 3rd faction that is at war with both the republic and empire the twins and the girl are siblings the old dude is their dad and the lady at the end is their mom. Yellow is sorta nuetral color can be used by both dark/light side
Darth Maul was torture by Sidios and tattoo in a very painful manner in order to strengthen his connection with the Dark Side and black and red tats are common in Sith Lords apprentices !
The "makeup" is acturally dark side corruption shown as facial features. Both on the Twilek and on Darth Maul. If you get high enough with the dark side in the game it will allso show on your characters face.

The trailers all set up the game. Trailer 1 - the narrator is Satele Shan, the padawan of Master Kao Cen Darach. The trooper who helps in the escape is Jace Malcolm of Havoc Squad. Niko Ocarr is the smuggler who was in custody but helps them getaway in his ship. Lord Vindican (a pure-blood of the Sith species) and his apprentice, Malgus, are the Sith who fight the Jedi. These characters alone set up six of the eight playable classes in the game (Jedi Consular, Jedi Knight, Sith Warrior, Sith Inquisitor, Republic Smuggler, and Republic Trooper) while also introducing characters that do show up as Non-Player Characters in the game. Trailer 2 - set on Leia Organa's home planet of Alderaan (blown up in Episode 4 - A New Hope), Havoc Squad led by Jace Malcolm, who narrates, leads the Republic forces against the Sith Empire under command of Lord Malgus. He is saved from execution by Master Satele Shan. Nothing really new here...however, off-screen Satele and Jace have had a son together who becomes important in the expansions of the game named Theron Shan. Theron isn't a Jedi or a Trooper, but a Republic spy and an NPC companion to the character you are playing. Trailer 3 - Now this one has two versions, and the one in this video has the weaker voice-over narration text, performed by Darth Malgus. Malgus with his Twi'lek wife Eleena Daru, helped by Mandalorian Bounty Hunter Shae Viszla, confront the Jedi in the Jedi Temple. The Jedi Master killed by Malgus is Ven Zallow. You also see an astromech droid (like R2-D2) called T7-01. This trailer sets up the Bounty Hunter playable class, Shae Viszla as an NPC that shows up in expansions and Teeseven as an NPC companion to the Jedi Knight class, while Malgus is an NPC in content after the initial game and in the recent sixth expansion 'Onslaught'. The only class never set up in the trailers is the Imperial Agent, a spy for the Empire. Now...for the last two trailers, which are for 2 expansions of the game 'Knights of the Fallen Empire' and 'Knights of the Eternal Throne'. The Emperor Valkorian (definitely a BAD GUY), his twin sons, Arcann (in white and injured) and Thexan (in black and who dies), his former love, Senya (the one you dubbed The Wasp), and their daughter Vaylin (who is seriously twisted!!!). All of these characters are NPCs, although Arcann and Senya might become companions to your character based on the decisions you make while playing. They are part of the Eternal Empire of Zakuul, which has a fleet able to decimate the Republic and Imperial fleets combined. The game and the trailers take place 3,500 or more years BEFORE 'Star Wars Episode IV-A New Hope'. In fact, before the launch of the game in 2011, LucasFilm commissioned four novels set in this time of the SW Universe, now in 'Legends' non-canon line. 'Revan' about Satele and Theron Shan's legendary ancestor, Revan, a Jedi who became Sith who returned to the Jedi (and a primary character of two games by SWTOR's company Bioware, 'Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2'). 'Fatal Alliance' which showed off the playable character classes in a story specifically designed to do so. 'Deceived' which tells the outcome of the destruction of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, and the treaty in place as the game begins, with Darth Malgus as the main protagonist. 'Annihilation', taking place after the base game events, that introduces NPC Theron Shan, Republic spy with the SIS, and player companion through the game from the end of the second expansion onward. I hope I could illuminate some of your confusion...I tried anyway. Thank you for finally doing these, I have been waiting!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
The Republic troopers aren't clones, they're normal people recruited like soldiers are in the modern real world. This game takes place thousands of years before the movies. The bald Sith guy in the first 3 is Darth Malgus.
The Sith that kills the jedi master in the 1st trailer and the padawan become masters and influential generals of the Republic and Empire. The Sith is Darth Malgus and the padawan becomes Master Satele Shan. The war that you see beginning in korriban and ending in coruscant lasted 20 years and the events of the game start a few years after this war.
"Bruh, and then what happened?" is gonna be a very common theme with all the good trailers you'll watch, cause they're all supposed to make you wanna play the game to find out :)
The Zabraks (Darth Maul character) come in a variety of colors. From normal skin tones to red colorings. The things that are on their face are facial markings that all of them have. So no, it's not makeup. It's just the way they are.
The story of the lost empire was pretty good. Valkorians story actually rings even better if youre on the sith warrior track. Ad it makes much reference to your time as the emperor's wrath
the two last videos are a third faction that is why the twing fought both the republic and the sith empire. The father of the twins and the sister vaylin from the last video is actually the emperor of the sith empire and built a new one called Zakull where you see them
You don't just go by the color of the Lightsabers, you also go by the color of their eyes. If you delve too deeply into the Dark Side, it actually begins to SHOW on your body. First, your eyes change color into yellow, orange, or red. Then your skin starts to deform until it looks like cracked marble.
Hi again, HannaH. I've been watching your vids out of order, and I'm only just about to start this one. But I wanted to take the time to address your intro about Chadwick Boseman. When you said the part about it being a concerted effort, about it being an effort we do now for the next generation, it reminded me about something that a character says in the Elder Scrolls Online while exploring a monastery dedicated to swordplay and mastery of steel and self (Leki's Blade, to those familiar to the area): "We do not choose when we rest. To give up the hard road is to bring suffering to the next traveler." Those words may have come from a game, but they're no less true. And while I'm saying it late, may it serve as a reminder to all of us not to quit when the going gets tough; that's precisely when we should keep going EDIT: Turns out the phrase was 'when we rest', not 'where we rest'. Corrected :)
@@HannaHsOverInvested Hi again, HannaH. I took the liberty of finding a suitable video of it. It's probably no harm to link it, but kudos to Shawn Brunelle's channel for having a recording that doesn't skip the dialogue. However, it's not exactly a clip but a recording of the entire questline in the game: (th-cam.com/video/BGU1Ciy8kKA/w-d-xo.html) Fittingly, it's a video that shows the difference between skipping dialogue when doing quests (speed), and taking your time to savor the story, voice acting and the narrative (immersion) But! Since you're only in it for the guy who says it, I took the liberty of checking for myself where the part is. His entire dialogue starts from 22:48 and ends at around 23:32. Hope that helps :)
Darth Mauls body is covered in Tattoos. It's meaning varies depending on the master and their intentions. Sometimes used to intimidate, other times it's a reflection of an achievement or faction. They are also extremely painful to apply which helps build up a pain tolerance as well as fuel the dark side. It's rumored that some tattoos may contain Sith alchemy , or some sort of enhancement like durability, strength, etc.
hahaha nice! very enjoyable video. i loved the conclusion and facial expressions. Wait what? Live long and prosper??? oh oh oh...Much to learn, you have.
Thank you for the reaction to the Star Wars: The Old Republic trailers. I enjoy your reactions. My only disappointment is that the combined trailer video you watched had the alternate dialogue for the second and third trailers. I personally greatly prefer the original dialogue for these two trailers, and I'm not sure why the alternate dialogue ones seem to be easier to find recently. That said, thank you for the great reaction.
@@HannaHsOverInvestedI don't know why they changed some of the dialogue in some of these trailers, because IMO the old dialogue sounded so much better and explained more. I recommend checking out the original versions for the second and third trailers, as well.
In the games and the later chapters, your player interacts with these NPC's. Satele later forms a very romantic liason with that Trooper you saw fighting in the first clip and leading the fight in the forest. His name is Jace Malcolm. Very romantic...they have a child. That child later appears as Theron Shan who is not Force Sensitive so he cannot become a Jedi. He joins the Republic intelligence service and interacts with your player characters in later chapters of the game. It gets very complicated as the game and its additions go on, but I won't spoil it for you. The game is primarily about your character, his or her skills or actions and how they interact with these "canon NPCs." Sometimes they command you, sometimes they are out there to assist you.
Believe it or not Darth Maul's subspecies of Zabrak didn't exist till close to the end of the old republic as the night sisters never colonized dathomir. So there were only Zabraks from their orginal homeworld and other colonies. Also yeah those tattoos are part of their skin.
Last one...The old guy is the Emperor...he has two sons. They both fight against the Republic AND the Empire. One suffers greatly, one gets through it fairly well. The Emperor has to choose one, but the scarred one cracks and tries to kill him. His brother tries to stop him, but in his rage, the scarred brother kills him. Not nice but it does prove...ruthlessness at least. The Lady in White is the Mother of the two boys...and the little girl. The girl eventually becomes very Force powerful and Old Daddy takes her too and trains her while the two boys are out there fighting wars. Eventually Surviving Son and Daughter end up being moved around like pawns by Big Daddy and Mommy. Complications ensue and ... conflict. Very complex, won't say any more.
I LOVE this game lol, one of my fave lines in game "I'd rather see Alderaan blown into space dust before we join the empire!" fast forward a few thousand years....here comes the Death Star XD game writers slipped a good one in
The two twins are interesting though, .especially how they are portrayed in the cinematic. One twin dressed all in White, one dressed all in Black. Looking back at the previous cinematics it becomes obvious that the Sith dress in black or dark clothes with the Jedi in brighter or earthen colors. Add to that the very classic cliché of the evil guy having a dark hat with the good guy having a white hat it gives the idea that if one of the twins turn to the Dark, it will be the one dressed in black. But then we see the twin dressed in bright clothes get wounded and increasingly aggressive, aka giving in to his emotions which is a way to the Dark Side. So the betrayal comes from the twin dressed in bright clothes, not the one dressed in dark. Sure, none of them turn out particularly "good" but the subversion of expectations by how they are dressed is interesting to me.
Fun fact: The trooper and the young female Jedi you see in the second video actually got together, one of the heroes in the games is actually their son. Not really following the Jedi Code, but I suppose strange things happen during a war.
Just a bit of background on the "twins" set of trailers. The two twins are Arcann (white, cybernetics), and Thexan (black, RIP). Their father is Valkorion, Emperor of the Eternal Empire of Zakuul. While the Republic and Sith Empire were fighting for control, he was building up his forces and when they were weak he sent his sons to conquer both. That's why they present him with the flags of the Repiblic and Empire along with trophy lightsabers. There's a bit more as to who Valkorion is but I won't get into it. Valkorion basically wanted one son, one heir. The twins desperately craved his approval and as you can see Acann only received it when he slew his brother. Vaylin is the twins' younger sister. She is as you can see a prodigy in the Force. As soon as she manifested her powers, Valkorion had her locked away in a sort of a mental asylum where she was experimented on, tortured, and eventually released but not before a sort of trigger phrase was brainwashed into her so that Valkorion could control her and she could never be a threat to him. Vaylin's and the twins' mother, Senya, was the captain of Valkorion's elite guard, the Knights of Zakuul. She began a romantic relationship with Valkorion but pulled away after she saw how indifferent he was towards his children.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Depends on how you play the story. As a dark sider they all die. As a light sider, Arcann and Senya join you in defeating Vaylin. Then in the final confrontation, she joins all three of you to take down Valkorian. She is "redeemed" at the end if even as a ghost. She often makes comments that she misses Thexan, the twin who was killed, because he always gave her gifts as a child.
These are trailers for the game the Star Wars The Old Republic. The first 3 show the game at launch as well as give you hints as to the various class faction NPC's you will come into contact with when you make a character as well some of their back stories and motivations. The next one from the expansion Knights Of Fallen Empire where a new empire fights both the sith empire and the republic and the last is from the expansion Knights Of the Eternal Throne. NOTE there are also trailers for The Rise Of The Hutt Cartel and The Shadow Of Revan Both expansions to the game. In addition to these there are numerous cut scenes that play through out the 8 class stories. This would amount to days of viewing if you could compile them into a video. Remember this game has been around since 2011 and new content for it is still being made.
In order of understanding the context of the movies, you have to play Star Wars The Old Republic MMO, some of the trailers are prequel of the game and some in the middle of the expansions etc... And yes, Zabraks (Dart Maul's Race) the face markings are tattoos not face paint.
So you may not be interested but here's the story. The first and second video are only setting up the return of the sith empire. The third there was meant to be a peace meeting between the republic and sith and darth Malgus (the main baddie) betrayed them the fourth video occurs much later when the true sith emperor, Valkorian appears and takes on both the republic and sith. His sons tried to earn his acceptance by killing two jedi and two sith. That was what they offered him before they fought eachother. The fifth video introduces their sister and mother and how they became involved.
Satele Shanl is a Jedi Cousular. Jedi essentially train in two different classes. There are the Jedi Knights, tough, very aggressive and trained extensively in combat. Consulars tend to use the double bladed light saber and are trained more extensively in powers of the Force. The Knights are essentially tanks or damage specialists, while the Consulars are more into healing and either buffing the powers of their comrades or lessening the powers of the enemy, more into mind control To an extent you can visualize the two types as warriors vs. mages...Knights are tougher and capable of dealing more damage, hence the more extensive armor...they melee. The Consulars tend to be less armored but more agile and capable of turning the Force into offensive or defensive actions. Body vs. Mind...but that's a very loose description. Knights can grow in the Force and a higher level Consular can be a deadly opponent. (Sith have a rough parallel in their classes of Sith Warrior and Sith Inquisitor.)

“And then what happened?!”

ok so the single player story was rely good in this mmo and thats what killed it because the mmo part wasn't good
@@guntherhess227 mmo part was great.
Cool!!

"How can you NOT like Valkorion, Vitiate, Tenebrae. Such a calculating, smart, powerful man!"

In the end, Malgus kills Vindican
2)This cinematics takes place about ten years after "return".
Well, to see the rest of the story, you have to play, lol.
Exactly why we play. :)

"I don't like him"
Yep, that's Emperor Valkorion for you, the guy is literally a genocidal maniac that pushed all 3 of his kids to darkness, well 1 died, and killed BILLIONS across more or less a thousand years (yes, he is kinda immortal).
The twins and the blond girl from the last trailer are all kids from the same mother, Senya, that woman from the last trailer.
''Is he a good guy?''
Oh boy... not even a little
In his pursuit of immortality he has consumed all life on 2 planets (maybe 3) one of which was his own home world
I don't play the mmorpg, he was a raid boss or something?
About the Darth Maul thing in the beginning, those are tattoos.

Be patient, young padawan. Come back the sound will.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 don't kill me!!
well.. I did* warn ya about the sound in one of my comments 🤣.
Anw, yeah alot of context is missing but I’ll try to shed some light without going overboard for at least the twins (and their sis’s) story. So..
1) their dad is the biggest baddy for the game’s story(at least for this arc)
2) they are part of third faction where the dad is the emperor who has grand plans to conquer everything (so they just go out and beat everyone else up as seen from the flags and the lightsabers of the leaders from both the Empire and the Republic)
3) the twins are just instruments of his plans. So he has been manipulating them their whole lives; being cold, unloving, distant, indifferent, etc;
4) he did expect one of them to kill the other, so they could not oppose his authority together if it came down to it
5) their sis was not part of the dad’s plan initially because the mum tried to keep her powers on the down low
6) unfortunately, dad found out so the girl is part of his plans now (she’s the most powerful amongst the siblings so he had her powers toned down - tattoo ritual and shaving head scene).
Further tidbits:
- their lightsabers don’t follow the general rule (red is bad, blue is good) because they dont follow in the Jedi/Sith religion. (But they still use the force)
- mum is badass because she’s one of the personal guards that protect the emperor (her husband)
-if you must know the names
Valkorion - Dad, evil emperor
Thexan - dead twin
Arcann - other twin
Vaylin - sis
Senya - mum
if you’ve read this far, beautiful intro for this vid and thanks for that 🙂
omg the spacing and numbering on this made it so easy to read. THANK YOU! Great info too.

Well, why the Hell did you do that?"
That's a complicated question:
The Dark Side of the Force isn't just temptation like we deal with in our daily lives.
The Force is *ALIVE* and it wants to be used.
When driven to a blind rage, the Dark Side takes control and Forces people to do truly evil things.
The darkside is a heck of drug
I'de like to add that lightsabers sometimes reflect their affiliation and belief to the force. though this excludes as playing as the character in the video game, which allows you to color your own light saber the way you want it.
Red has been a symbol of the Sith. which means Power
Blue is the symbol of Jedi, which means Peace
Other colors like Orange, another Sith affiliated color, which means Passion.
and Green as a Jedi color, represents Serenity.
Yellow has been a natural phase of the force sensitive, meaning they don't align with neither jedi or sith beliefs.
either they are attempting to understand it, or otherwise that they disagree with both sides.
Perhaps a lawful order that doesn't apply to the concept of good and evil.
as a little trivial addition, purple has not been a intended light saber color, Samuel Jackson personally asked for a different color light saber to impress his son in the movies so that when his son asks where his dad is "That's me right there holding the purple light saber."
though that isn't always to the case, but it is however heavily considered, star wars authors tend to make up characters and quote "a lightsaber reflects the wielders persona or affiliation most of the time."
which makes it easier for readers or viewers to understand the characters personality or intent when the light saber is drawn.
to ask if the Sith , or even the Jedi are bad is entirely subjective.
the Siths actions are considered cruel and evil. but they still fight and serve the empire and whats best for the empire.
given that a few corrupted ones wanted to kill the competitors for authority and dominance, or rot the empire from within (such as racism, as conquering other planets without pity or remorse for the residents)
as the player, you get to decide and represent those actions as good or evil.
Pretty sure Revan also has a purple lightsaber canonically
@@mvalthegamer2450 Yep. One purple, one red. Canon Revan is male dual wielder.
'This guy's face just keeps getting more and more jacked up!'
Which is why when we see him in-game, he's got a metal mouthguard.
Just a little side note... in those are troppers of the old Republik, no clones
“And then what happened”
Well...

The reason he gave for having kids was he had started to soften and wanted to experience more than just power, death and destruction. He stated he regretted giving in to his weaknesses though and didn’t care for his family.
The last two made up for it.
To state the Wookieepedia here:
"The term Sith tattoo referred to a number of different types of body markings that were used by followers of the dark side order and its factions. (...)The application of Sith tattoos was painful, owing to the fact that they were applied via Sith pincerbugs."
so basically their tattoos and have tattoo artists.

the story of this game is so good and so captivating.

Thank you! and I watched the beginning of the clone wars. Always meant to go back to it but I never have.
I prefer grim and dark stories. Because it reflecs reality. Happy ending doesn't exist. Never existed and never will.
Every person you mentioned had "make up". I don't know how to say this um. That's their skin...lol.

I guarantee that if Disney made Old Republic films instead of this Kathleen Kennedy drivel, Star Wars would be #1
Maybe this is not too far from the reality since we're getting some kind of reform in there.
"Lucas returns" and shit like this, i'm not too well informed but i know the Kathleen Kennedy trilogy probably was less successful to the end of it, so going back to the more classic stuff is something preferrable for the franchise.

The following two trailers for Knights of the Fallen Empire, and Knights of the Eternal Throne are trailers that were dropped for the DLC additions to the game under the exact same names which established Arcann (the living twin) Valkorian (stoic guy who always turns his back to the twins) Senya Tirall (mom of the twins and mother of the little girl being saved) and Vaylin (the little girl) into the series and the Kingdom of Zakuul in which Valkorian is established as the Sith Lord which has been wreaking havoc on the galaxy for 1500 years. the first one is the overall starting cinematic. The point where it all started.
Second one is playing whenever you create a Republic character, and the third one if you create an Empire character.

He’s the main antagonist of the base game.
oh interesting. I'd watch this movie haha!

Not at all 🤣🤣 the twins broke my heart!!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Hahah you're welcome. Also paragraph breaks next time. I beg of you 🙏🏼🙏🏼😊
The Republic troopers aren't clones, they're normal people recruited like soldiers are in the modern real world. This game takes place thousands of years before the movies.
The bald Sith guy in the first 3 is Darth Malgus.
Oh yea.... I still liked the show where we got to know the clones.
Hahaha it has been!

When you said the part about it being a concerted effort, about it being an effort we do now for the next generation, it reminded me about something that a character says in the Elder Scrolls Online while exploring a monastery dedicated to swordplay and mastery of steel and self (Leki's Blade, to those familiar to the area):
"We do not choose when we rest. To give up the hard road is to bring suffering to the next traveler."
Those words may have come from a game, but they're no less true. And while I'm saying it late, may it serve as a reminder to all of us not to quit when the going gets tough; that's precisely when we should keep going
EDIT: Turns out the phrase was 'when we rest', not 'where we rest'. Corrected :)
Oh man. That is a great line. I want that on a t shirt or something. Do you think I would be able to find that clip of the game?
@@HannaHsOverInvested Hi again, HannaH. I took the liberty of finding a suitable video of it. It's probably no harm to link it, but kudos to Shawn Brunelle's channel for having a recording that doesn't skip the dialogue.
However, it's not exactly a clip but a recording of the entire questline in the game: (th-cam.com/video/BGU1Ciy8kKA/w-d-xo.html)
Fittingly, it's a video that shows the difference between skipping dialogue when doing quests (speed), and taking your time to savor the story, voice acting and the narrative (immersion)
But! Since you're only in it for the guy who says it, I took the liberty of checking for myself where the part is. His entire dialogue starts from 22:48 and ends at around 23:32.
Hope that helps :)
Yellow lightsabers usually belonged to jedi temple guards and yes they mean good, sometimes they mean a mix in the middle
I'm pretty sure Darth Maul tattooed his whole body.
19:49 But it's not makeup, it's actually tattoos that this girl covers her whole body with, just like Darth Maul did
Darth Mauls body is covered in Tattoos.
I think someone should draw a cartoon of him doing his makeup tho🤣🤣

I LOVE this game lol, one of my fave lines in game "I'd rather see Alderaan blown into space dust before we join the empire!" fast forward a few thousand years....here comes the Death Star XD game writers slipped a good one in
also, if you want a good laugh look up bounty hunter best lines, he has the funniest dialogue in game if you pick all the jerk conversation choices
The rest of the story that put all the cut scenes together id in the play of the MMO. And oh hell yea the story is hella epic!
everything in the video happens 3000 years before the star wars we know in the movies

Yes. Yes I am.
I would like a movie of this story.... with a happy ending.
@@HannaHsOverInvested Well in the actual story mostly everyone dies so...
@@Nick.Georgiev not in my world 🤣🤣
@@HannaHsOverInvested Depends on how you play the story.
The jedi temple trailer has so many quick cuts and close ups of unnamed characters it feels like a parody of modern action scenes
Everything in these trailers happens like thousand years before the clone wars series
Yes! I've since learned that. Thanks.
Fantastic glad you got to this! Chadwick Boseman will be missed.
He will indeed. Wakanda Forever.
