General Surgery vs Interventional Radiology

    Hi sir I've completed my under grads now taking up radiology n later would like to do ir but im confused between wether to tske radio or surgery 😢 .y mother is a gynecologist and I have good surgical skills but I don't want to do post n all I wanted to be a pediatric surgeon n wanted to practice for free but now I have realised its difficult at least in my home town it's really difficult and I good scores to get into radio but now I'm confused like about ai n all 😢😢 please help me sir if you can guide me

    Great video once again! May I ask why the collections were drained CT guided. US would have been a lot quicker, no? Hospital politics and economic incentives? 😄

      Great question, so a lot of the collections are intimately connected to bowel and the air in bowel shadows making visualization challenging, also with ct you can place a drain deeper usually within the dependent portion Of the body since your visualization is much improved

    Hi ,
    Are interventional radiologist at a hazard of radiation exposure..is it bad in the long term

      Absolutely the risk is there, we use many preventive measures though like acrylic shields, good practices with the flouro machine as well as lead outfits with glasses to minimize the risk

    Some people said the general surgery will be replaced by IR
    It's true or not?

      Not replaced for sure we do percutaneous and endovascular work but we can’t replace traditional open surgery
