Officer George Michael Alleyn, age 24 Officer Walter Carroll Frago, age 23 Officer Roger Davis Gore, age 23 Officer James E. Pence Jr., age 24 Daniel James Schwartz, age 40 (pistol-whipped, survived) All four officers had less than two years with the California Highway Patrol (CHP). All were married and had a combined total of seven children.
Just finished watching this for a third time. I just love the old stories ( those wild times!) . Thank Jiles for all your hard work so we can learn about this story in such detail in a very short time.
lol yup. I wake up all through the night, usually every hour to 2 hours. I’ll put this on to go back to sleep till 4:30 when my alarm goes off for work, then I’ll drink my coffee and watch it again when I get up and I’ll actually pay attention lol
In regards to airport security in the past, in the 90's my dad was able to take a gun onboard in his carry-on because he told the agent that it was valuable and he didn't want to check it so they were like okay sure no problem, just put the bullets in your checked bag. When he got home, he noticed a couple bullets he forgot about in a side pocket of his carry-on. Times were wild.
lol…in the 70’s we were in Las Vegas and I bought a cigarette lighter shaped like a gun and I couldn’t bring it on the plane! I was mad because it was a great little lighter😂
Stealing machine guns from a military base, mounting it in a stolen dump truck and blowing open the back of an armored truck with dynamite? Career criminals back then really were a different breed 😳
Pop starting baby! I drove My crappy (but strangely awesome) old saturn around for months with a dead starter. It was a little car and i was able to push it fast enough on flat ground. Then jump in, put it in gear and dump the clutch. Sold it to my friend that needed a car for super cheap. Told him outright that it burned oil, and he had to keep up on it. He blew it up within the week and i was so angry. I know, i know, cool story bro
This horrible tragedy happened about 20 miles north of my home during my junior year of high school. So many mistakes were made that reverberated through our communities, but lessons were learned and changes made.
My mom lived in Salinas when Son of Sam was active and my mother in law was in Kansas when BTK was active. Crazy to think me and my husband might not be here if our mothers were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It was 11am when this premiered only I've been on the phone for about 2 hours so I'm listening to this at 1,13pm. Have a great day everyone & thanks Giles. Regards from LONDON 🇬🇧
40:14 the first time in a great while I’ve heard such a detailed description of what happened that I was able to see the grotesque image in my head as clear as day 😂
I entered the police academy in 1977. I remember seeing a videotape of the Newhall incident during a survival tactics class. The following week, when we started firearms training, that incident was on my mind.
One of the victims survived for 9 days before he died. After surviving for 9 days at the hospital you should think the chance of survival would be very high. Poor guy
Great picture of the red Pontiac! I love old muscle cars like that one!! When I was in HS we inherited our grandparents Pontiac LeMans. I loved driving that baby! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Ok, i thought maybe nobody remembered, but in my lifetime you could go wait for somebody's flight with them in the boarding area with no ticket. If you were sending a minor on a trip alone, you could go get them settled in their seat on the plane and then leave. Wild times. 😂
My Dad got in trouble back in the late 50's after being a juvenile delinquent, but never really doing anything but drinking. He joined the Air force and it changed his life. He served his 4 years , came back to the states got a degree in electronic engineering, and continued working under the Airforce contracts for many years. It is crazy. My dad was proud of serving, and thought it was good for young men getting in small time trouble. He was a stand up Dad who cared for all 5 of us. My Dad was adopted too. By his Auntie. I think that can really effect young people, of course it does. ps 16:30 That looks exactly like the Shell gas station right up the road from my grandmothers house. Jiles your making me feel old, because I am. LOL
Ahh better late than never! At work however it's Tuesday Tear tired, 😫 so sweet dreams until my coworker coughs or sneezez to arise me in case our boss walks in. 😊 thanks Jiles for the new upload!❤
Jiles, there was one other inmate that suffered that same fate Bobby Davis would go on to. Remember the episode on Herbert Mullin? John Linley Frazier did that three days before that, but in a different prison in California.
Every law enforcement academy cadet in California for the 50 years knows the Newhall incident. Firearms training changed dramatically. The Onion Field incident was the other big case. Since then, Cali cadets (probably all LE cadets) have been taught never, ever, under any circumstance, surrender your weapon.
Ahh a mid morning monster episode coffee n viewing is coming up for me lol!!! Hello my fellow monsterers across the globe i wish you all have a happy and healthy day!!!
@this is MONSTERS: I'm one of your viewers who isn't a subscriber, so I randomly search for your channel each week to find updates. Imagine my surprise when I saw this was posted twenty-one minutes ago. I was hearing, not listening, to the introduction when it clicked for me, and I said aloud, "Ohhh, this is the Newhall incident!". I heard about it a few weeks ago on a different channel; apparently it lives in law enforcement infamy. I'll resume the video and see what I see (and hear). Thanks!
If its accurate that he "shook" the car its more likely that it was low on gas, if it was the battery then he most likely roll/compression started it, if the starter was the problem then he would have had to strike the starter directly to get it to turn over so this is NOT the likely problem with the car.
Omg, perfect examples of absolute wastes of space. People like that we shouldn’t waste taxpayers money on, because there is no reforming them… Losers like these will just continue to cause problems, whether in prison or out. I feel so bad for all of the victims and all of their loved ones, that have cared about them. Just imagine, there’s so many hurt and lives forever damaged, besides the victims. These dudes truly are MONSTERS!!
I always give a thumbs-up before I even listen to the story. The story and narration is always very well done.
Same
🙄
Me too 👍
Me too! ❤😊
Yup same here i love me some of This is Monsters❤😊

Wow Gary is like right out of a movie what a hero

Dan was also a boss

💯
From the first time heard this voice and watched the story that went along

It's not cool to ask people to notify and then upload videos at a time that guarantees someone is being disturbed.
Takes a monster to know a monster.
Fact

Tired, but hell " this is monsters"😂
"The past was a wild time" = In the past there was a high trust society.
Jiles with a J. This is one of the best stories you've ever covered! Great job sir.
Thanks so much!

After surviving for 9 days at the hospital you should think the chance of survival would be very high.
Poor guy
Right on time for my night cap
Perfect timing Jiles! That was a helluva story!!!
❤👹

Thanks so much!

And you could buy a ticket with cash at the airport and never show ID.
And the people picking you up from a flight would be waiting for you at the gate.
Perfect timing Jiles, good afternoon ❤
Which libraries in Sacramento and Long Beach held details on local banks with names and home addresses of branch managers? 😮
And spouses!
Thanks for another interesting video! I has heard of this case before.

That was horrific.

What's arbitrary about a mass killer getting the death penalty?
You wouldn’t get it.
Greetings from Texas foos ✌️
Hey fellow Texas Monsta! 👋🏻
Good Morning, great timing!
Morning. Perfect when I work 9-5. PM-AM that is

Geez all that effort put into crime. They would have been better off starting a business.
I love the OG car keys and as always the story
Sorry I laughed but 16 canisters
Unions in New York are still like this, it's who you know.
Thank you Jiles
This case is horrendous and incredibly violent. Although, jack's cartoonish mishaps have had me laughing a bit
Never heard it as "Compression Starting"
Have you ever thought about doing a sesson about cop killers or contract murders I've heard a lot of stories that I feel deserve more attention
25:20 Who the hell came up with is plan to use a .50 cal to handle the guards and use explosives to get into the truck? Director Michael Bay?
4am, and it's never a mannequin
Before Kenneth Noye.
1:56 Never knew Norm Macdonal was a monster
The monster version is less attractive but ... Woah

As a retired police officer, these two jerks forever changed the way we approached a suspects vehicles. 😢
Good morning everyone be safe.🖤
Oh wow! I know the area and I’m not from the US.
I spent my wedding night in Lake Isabella.
Yay monsters!!
Maybe the alternator since he rocked the car 🤷♀️
9:42 - This is my kind of humour.
I bet Ivory thought twice about approaching another car out of road rage after having a gun in his face.
