Pour Un Homme De Caron Le Soir is a gem of a fragrance. I'm surprised you discovered it as it's not one of the most popular ones on the TH-cam Fragrance Influencers Hot 100 List. Remember that this is really a $140 fragrance (125 ml) so it's not a cheapie. I'm not sure where you're even finding the 75 ml for $40. Most discounters are in the $55 to $75 range for both sizes.
I'm in the UK and got the 75ml for not far off the equivalent of $40. Great fragrance. Something of a hybrid of Le Male Le Parfum and YSL LNDL but with its own character.

And thank you for not mentioning Aventus and instead going with Santal. No mention of a Penhaligan scent however, kind of surprising as I like them better than most other niche lines.

I got comments that ranged from: "ew, you smell like an old man" to "take a shower"... so I don't think I'll be wearing it anymore. I also didn't like it after I sprayed it. The same thing happens to me with Layton from Parfums de Marly, except chicks love that one. I don't know why, but the other fragrance that I can't stand is Dior Sauvage, and I remember that women seemed to like it a lot when I used it, regardless of how popular and common it got over the years. But yeah, I don't feel comfortable wearing any of these 3 fragrances. I'll just keep Layton because women like it, and after all, that's the whole point.

I just got a Black Lacquer decant. I smell a record that picked up aromas from flowers and pleasant household candle fumes. It is very weak to me. You get a dark woody vibe. I call it interesting.
If you like Tony Iommi Monkey Special, another great patchouli fragrance is Psychedelique from Jovoy Paris. It is was Sebastian’s favorite, at least before fifty four came out. I love it, too. Two other uber masculine fragrances from Jovoy are Private Label (by Cecile Zarokian) and Incident Diplomatique. Another powerful masculine is Promise from Frederic Malle (by Dominique Ropion).
Would love some commentary about Chanel Pour Monsieur vs Bleu de Chanel. Pour Monsieur used to be the go-to men's fragrance in the Chanel line up prior to Bleu. Chanel seems to have limited the availability of Pour Monsieur to only their own store and Bloomindales....unlike Bleu, which is widely available. I wonder what's that about? A complete classic, would love to hear your comments on Pour Monsieur!

Creeds are nice, but they have gotten out of control with there pricing given there so many other more affordable niche options with just the same or better quality.

There are very few fragrances that I ever truly dislike. Bentley For Men Intense is by far the worst blind buy I've ever bought. Glad it was only $30. I even tried to give it away to a few friends and each said it was gross. Only frag I ever tossed in the trash. I will never understand the hype on it, or why people recommend it.🤮
Sorry Erica but as Heterosexual male I use a mans aftershave - Old Spice - not any of the fancy shmancy French women's perfumes posing as fragrances for men. Till I retired I worked in an office with 90% young women and most loved my Old Spice and flirted with me most days, ditto for the mostly younger ladies I dated in the last few decades. The ex-wife of a friend of mine bought him one of those French fragrances that which are supposedly for men. He went on business to New York and he found that when ordering drinks at bars the Gays gathered around him complimenting him on his perfume but women avoided him. He figures that his ex-wife deliberately set him up & so he poured the rest of the bottle down the toilet and went out and bought Old Spice splash on lotion & lo and behold his next night at a bar he attracted a beautiful and younger woman who accepted his invitation to dinner. The lesson to be learnt here is "never mess with success" or "if it ain't broke don't fix it!"
