i found out about you through the andrew huang video you were featured in and i absolutely love your style. i havent even finished the vid, but i love the sound of that electric violin. great demo and great sound :)
Same here - it was never really a style of music I was into but her passion for it and her knowledge of music drew me in & now when I need a break from my usual stuff, Bad Snacks is my go-to.
Best pedal I have seen in ages. It looks like it is giving you a real good feel. That is what we hope for in a pedal. I don't play violin and am not sure how guitar would work but this pedal seems made for you.
Sounds like dancing elves in the enchanted forest. Actually she does a really good job explaining this somewhat complex pedal. She also has this warm inviting quality and I like the white smock as if she is doing a art project or preparing some complex dish in the kitchen. But seriously, she should demo other products because so many clowns are showing off their technical skills, obscuring the product itself.
Thank you SO MUCH for this kind of review. What I mean by that is a review that focuses on the intuitiveness of the controls and a simple "Here's what I will do, and here's how that will affect my sound" format. I've seen COUNTLESS demos of this pedal that sound amazing and showcase its capabilities, but you did the best job of showing HOW TO GET THERE. You're an excellent instructor and this review is what finally got me to pull the trigger and buy the Hedra. Just by giving clear, simple but satisfying demonstrations, you justified the value of this pedal plenty times over for me. Meris is wise to let you demo their incredible products!
This vocoder is perfect for your younger sibling or a cousin to give them an instrument and tell them to play a note, manipulate the pitch on the keyboard and tell them "yaaay, you're a musician!". Just a random thought, this effect is amazing :D
5:11 major mediant! Seriously, even with that minor flaw I'm impressed with its quality, especially with how it handles glissandi. I remember having something like that for my electric guitar end everytime I tried bending a string the pedal started glitching like a star wars robot. It's exciting to see technology evolve, you can do so many things nowadays just with your instrument.
those feedback/delay harmonies are gorgeous!! (the glissando section was like taffy for the ears) The things I would do to have beautiful strings in my productions.. your skills and talents always are a treat! The atmosphere and warmth of this sound is so cozy for the morning
This is the best demo of the pedal so far! Not only is it a comprehensive run-through of the features, it's also a good demonstration of how this pedal might actually be used in a song.
Thank you very much for the video. It's the best I've found for dim witted musicians like me who are not sure about the settings for pitch and echo effects and how they work.
Super cool to be able to create such an interesting dynamic soundscape. I could totally get lost in some ambient music from your violin + this pedal alone.
Can't wait for the new projects you've been working on! I'm so happy to see you're living your dream and creating music for a living. It inspires me to reach my goal and do what I love for a living. Sometimes it doesn't feel attainable. However, I can always count on a few sources of inspiration to bring back my fighting spirit. You being one of them. I use all of your beats in the TH-cam library for my vids. I hope you get to make some more! Much love.
That sounds really beautiful with the violin. I have used some pitch shift pedals and effects with a guitar before, but nothing has been as quick and as musical as this. Nice playing!
Again, this is what I keep telling people about Meris's designs and engineering. I'm a guitar player, not a violinist, but these uses with other instruments completely make sense to me. I don't think it can be said enough - Meris pedals are instruments in a pedal format.
Oh my God! This is the best news ever, because I don't know how many times I've had a recorded piece of music or a sample and that I wished I had polyphonic pitch adjustment to work with. Imagine the transformative power that a DAW or plugin would have on Music and other sound based environments. Remember pitch and rhythm is the same thing, ultimately we have energies, frequencies and vibrations to rely on!
So this past Sunday afternoon it started raining where I live (Nairobi), then i decided to have a glass of whiskey and put Bad Snacks on Spotify. Never have I got such a emotional ride of happiness, sadness, excitement and so much more. Keep doing what you do girl❤️ you have 100% of my support
I love how excited you get each time you get each time you try out a new effect! It's such an honest expression. Keep up the awesome videos. Thanks for giving us some insight into your creative process.
i came here because of the Hedra vid.. The Hedra is probably one of the greatest pedals of all times...but glad i found this channel...very impressed...you rock
Great explanation. To the point with rambling and articulated or all levels of understanding. Showing how to use the pedal most as an instrument in itself. Thanks indeed. Subscribed. 👍
Meris are at the top of the game right now, they are ushering in the new world in pedals, I can't wait to own some! This one sounds very cool, although I'm not a violinist so I'm not sure how it would work with guitar. Maybe with an ebow though!
Cool pedal! And the violin is super cool too, nice playing! Yeah, depending on what you've got going on with your pitch shifting, roots and fifths are a safe bet. I like to "stack" my fifths to create lush 9 and 11 chords.
9:30 Seeing your expression while your friend is playing is priceless. I sometimes forget how much better it is to play and create with fellow musicians! I do like the pedal. I don't play violin, but I wonder how it works for guitar (or if there is something similar).
Very cool. I love violin and cello with effects. I personally like more extended playing examples rather than 30 different chunks of 5 seconds but I get this method gives someone a better idea of the possibilities, I just like to hear expanded chunks to get into the nuance and lock in more on the subtleties. Still a great video.
I want to thank you for an amazing video. I’m strictly an acoustic guitarist and look for pedals that can inspire my creativity. I would love to see more demos of this pedal from you with settings to follow. Keep inspiring us all with your magic
TFW: You are so blown away with appreciation and amazement and a hundred other feelings welling up inside you, you've been staring at the comment cursor blinking for 10 mins trying to make a coherent sentence of thanks and admiration but your mind's been rendered speechless. Going to go enjoy these tears of joy with a side of life. Thank you. Safe journeys & PLUR (: P.S. thank you for bringing warmup noodles into our lives hehe
Ok, that sounds extremely good, especially bowed, but the plucked sound is awesome too. Instant anime soundtrack at 10:10. Can't afford one of these rn, so I'll have to use Ableton's effects to do the same 😌
Brilliant demo! Loads of information but not confusing at all at the same time. This pedal is great too, very versatile and seems to be very high quality sound. Its 2 pedals in one but more than that it seems to do the work of three! Great for live performance or in the studio.
I've been watching youtube video demos of this pedal all day. I'm a keyboardist (not a guitarist) but I think I really want this pedal. I can imagine doing so many cool things with it.
In all sincerity.... when you hit it to glide and did that little "Ahhhh"... It was like the most adorable thing I have ever heard :P I think I watched that about 15 times... ok 20... or so... lol
Bad Snacks. Watched you on the Andrew Huang channel and I was impressed with your sample flip. Well done. Loved this one too with the violin. Great job as well Friend :-D New subscriber :-)
This pedal seems so bad ass! When you played that glide in minor, it sounded like a portamento effect on snyth. So beautiful :D. Edit: Dude, love the ambient jam at the end! Righteous.
wow... i thought the walrus luminary is the best sounding octaver/pitch box... i was sooo wrong.... this one really charms your violin... badsnacks goosebump quartett :-)
Ah shit. I need this thing! Also it’s really cool seeing demos for this kind of stuff on electric strings (id love to hear it on cello!)- glad I found your channel!
Used to be a violin player a couple of years back but dropped it while starting a new chapter in my life. But every time I see bad snacks messing around with electric violin, I get this inspiration just to put everything on hold and pick up the violin again. Love your work! Maybe we’ll hear this pedal on Neat Tape 2??

that would be amazing haha :)
“Money well spent”
5:11 major mediant!

$299 seems pretty reasonable for this. I was honestly expecting it to be a lot more for how good it sounds
All Meris pedals are $299. Just amazing!
To be fair this was a demo of all it's most basic features check out another one and u will probably hear abit more from this pedal
@@XIIMonkeysMusicGroup Lucky you! They are $500+ here :(
@@petiteviolon that sucks! $299 new, typically $240-280 used!
I was thinking the same thing
That last part with the violin and midi was beautiful. Thanks for sharing
That glissando though 🙌
So many creative inspirations just waiting to be discovered in that thing!!
Wow! Amazing! You two should make an ambient EP together. ❤
Yeah, those sounds were soothing! Some Pat Metheny vibes in a nutshell...
Definitely - I'd be all over an EP of ambient noodling like that!
those feedback/delay harmonies are gorgeous!! (the glissando section was like taffy for the ears) The things I would do to have beautiful strings in my productions.. your skills and talents always are a treat! The atmosphere and warmth of this sound is so cozy for the morning
The keyboard controlled bit at the end was so beautiful, especially the bowed part.
Your violin playing is so beautiful! Paired with this pedal it’s like the most ambient thing ever
This is the best demo of the pedal so far! Not only is it a comprehensive run-through of the features, it's also a good demonstration of how this pedal might actually be used in a song.
Lady, that Hedra is definitely neat. This demo sounds just beautiful. Also, that's a wicked awesome Violin. Thanks for sharing your beautiful music.
I had a major eargasm at 8:14
Thank you very much for the video. It's the best I've found for dim witted musicians like me who are not sure about the settings for pitch and echo effects and how they work.
The sound is incredible. It really sets a super dramatic and large scale sound.
Beautiful sounds coming out of that thing. Agh I can hear so many new tracks just off this video.
Oh my gosh you playing the melody and him altering the harmonies that’s so cool!!! That would be so sick in a performance setting!
Super cool to be able to create such an interesting dynamic soundscape. I could totally get lost in some ambient music from your violin + this pedal alone.
9:50 i swear that sounds exactly like the zelda zora city music from ocarina of time

I got this 2 days ago and this video helps me a lot in figuring out how it works. I didnt even know the Mix and Microtune had an Alt function!

You amaze me every video! 🙌🏾 also music at 9:40 gives me Nintendo 64, Mario/Zelda vibes 😎

Dude, I’m with you. Eastern Europe, rains and grey sky, listening to Bad Snacks to save some happy moments at the end of the day
I love how excited you get each time you get each time you try out a new effect! It's such an honest expression. Keep up the awesome videos. Thanks for giving us some insight into your creative process.
i came here because of the Hedra vid.. The Hedra is probably one of the greatest pedals of all times...but glad i found this channel...very impressed...you rock
One of the most informative videos on this pedal. I love mine.
Awesome video! I'm LOVING the sounds you were making with this pedal. The jam with your friend sounded so beautiful! :)
8:52 feels like I just used a health potion in an RPG 😊🎮
It's so cute how excited you are 😄
This is no joke one of the coolest pedals I've ever heard of. I have to get one now :0
No joke that glissando kills me every time I show someone this video lmao
This looks awesome. Great demo. I'm a double bass player and this is exciting. Must get this soon
Think you're the only person using this with strings I can find . SOLD, yep, even with the deep menus (which aren't my bag) Thanks.
The harmonizing delay stuff towards the end of the video sounds so cool!
wow that dual + series combo made for some incredible sounds!!
Hedra is great for violin and vocals. Would be nice with cello too
Great explanation. To the point with rambling and articulated or all levels of understanding. Showing how to use the pedal most as an instrument in itself. Thanks indeed. Subscribed. 👍

Such a beautiful sound
Very impressive, it opens up a world of possibilities.

I really love your channel. Very concise informative and entertaining. Thank you continuing to provide us with great content.
It's so easy to see her passion for music in her videos.
Those bowed violin sounds were gorgeous!
Emily Hopkins’ Hedra demo on Harp brought me here! Such a cool pedal
9:30 Seeing your expression while your friend is playing is priceless. I sometimes forget how much better it is to play and create with fellow musicians!
I do like the pedal. I don't play violin, but I wonder how it works for guitar (or if there is something similar).
always fun to watch someone that passionate having fun doing their art and experimenting, always inspiring !
Your violin playing is making this pedal sound even better than its creators ever imagined.
This is INSANE. I totally want to take production lessons from you you do such cool stuff!!
Super cool! Love this use of the Hedra.
8:12 sounds so wonderful 😍
This pedal is amazing :D you're also pretty cool badsnacks :d love your enthusiasm for music
Imma be honest, bad snack you looked like you were holding an UZI on your thumb nail 😂 but another cool video
LOL oh noooo
yep totally can relate XD
you mean there's kinda ...violince in the thumbnail?
Very cool. I love violin and cello with effects. Bad Snacks you are my new musical hero. You make me miss music theory classes and inspire me to get back to playing. Also that nose ring though..
Beautiful showcase of this pedal! Loved every second 👏
That's pretty awesome. Was undecided on this pedal until watching. Love the chord progression at the end, sounds super familiar.
cool demo...learned a lot about the product... really sonically beautiful with the violin
Amazing sound, excellent demo. You really covered the vast features of the Hedra. And.... Great playing as well and I love the microtones
I want to thank you for an amazing video. I’m strictly an acoustic guitarist and look for pedals that can inspire my creativity. I would love to see more demos of this pedal from you with settings to follow. Keep inspiring us all with your magic

Ok, that sounds extremely good, especially bowed, but the plucked sound is awesome too. Instant anime soundtrack at 10:10. Can't afford one of these rn, so I'll have to use Ableton's effects to do the same 😌
Great video! Meris has probably made the pedal of the year.
Very cool pedal, wholy moly. I really like how it allows musicians to interact more directly.
Brilliant demo! Loads of information but not confusing at all at the same time. This pedal is great too, very versatile and seems to be very high quality sound. Its 2 pedals in one but more than that it seems to do the work of three! Great for live performance or in the studio.
Saw you on an Ableton ad. You are very talented and have a great sound!
The melody at the end just hits my soul
This were chords, no melody. But yeah you're right, it was definitely pleasing and extremely calming
Hahaha this woman LOVES this pedal.... MERIS should hire her she's enthusiastic and talented.
Well done tutorial, thanks for the information about this cool pedal! I'd love to try it out on a saxophone.
Awesome video and even more awesome music. Neat Tape 1 is dope!
I've been watching youtube video demos of this pedal all day. I'm a keyboardist (not a guitarist) but I think I really want this pedal. I can imagine doing so many cool things with it.
Check out the demo from ThePedalZone. He mainly uses a guitar in the demo, but also a Keyboard at 6:22!
daaaang the tracking on the vibrato is incredible
Holy cow. You can build some really cool sounding Soundtrack stuff with that and that's not even the half of it I bet. Pretty bloody cool!
I'm new to violin playing and holy shit glissando sounds amazing I want to learn that it sounds so dope aaaaaa
In all sincerity.... when you hit it to glide and did that little "Ahhhh"... It was like the most adorable thing I have ever heard :P I think I watched that about 15 times... ok 20... or so... lol
This is absolutely gorgeous
Bad Snacks. Watched you on the Andrew Huang channel and I was impressed with your sample flip. Well done. Loved this one too with the violin. Great job as well Friend :-D New subscriber :-)
What a sick little device, especially for violin. I wish I actually played some real world instrument now :P
Also check out the Laurie Anderson tapehead violin
Just absolutely crazy how much you know about not only your instrument but also a tool to pair it with
wow, that was soooo cool! loved the harmony and glissando
I have the Hedra. Absolutely awesome pedal!
This pedal seems so bad ass! When you played that glide in minor, it sounded like a portamento effect on snyth. So beautiful :D.
Edit: Dude, love the ambient jam at the end! Righteous.
wow... i thought the walrus luminary is the best sounding octaver/pitch box... i was sooo wrong.... this one really charms your violin... badsnacks goosebump quartett :-)
you are so amazing! the way you listen and react to the sound is just so fun to watch! thanks for that great content
This looks like such a fun pedal!
wow I wasn´t expecting it to sound so good! also, dying to get me a minilogue xd
Marvellous demo, playing and sounds! thank you :)
It feels like a tamed Rainbow Machine. I love it.
Amazing pedal..awesome talent ⚡️
super useful demo vid, thanks! It's on my list now
Sammmeee
You rock girl, you are really talented!
Noooo! Now I want one. Another item on the long list of synths/pedals/controllers that I "need".
Love to see this in a live session😍🥳
