Thank you so much for doing this video. Since I went carnivore I’ve been wondering what I’m going to do with my Harvest Right freeze dryer that I just love. Now I know.
I bought 3 of those Butcher knives due to the discounts and promotions Amazon offers at this time. I buy my Rib Eye by the slab and cut the steaks myself. I have a nice knife but its always a little bit of a struggle. These knives should make it much easier and somewhat future proof on inflation, hopefully lasting me a lifetime.
@@Judten1 Yeah I was worried about that too. Try to get the leanest cuts you can find. Storing in the mylar bags with the oxygen absorbers will rid the bag of oxygen.
Pretty nice prepping! That's a lot of meat you can process in one go. Are there specific benefits to freeze drying over dehydrating? And have you considered vacuum sealing the bags for even longer storage life?
@@Lamz.. dehydrated meat is a good option but it won't last as long as freeze dried. Vacuum sealing is good but but the mylar bags with the oxygen absorber's will last longer.
Pete, I enjoy your video presentations and thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. One quick question, could I use a Sous Vide to cook the meat and then use a hot cast iron skillet to shear the meat before using the freeze dryer?
I’m curious doesn’t eating meat kinda the same as eating vegetables?doesn’t the cows and animals eat grass isn’t it grown in the ground? Is it really safer to consume more meat that’s grown with all the chemicals, growth hormones, food additives most grain that’s fed to the animals are roundup ready crops and grain sprayed with herbicides, insecticides and everything else that we’re not being told about? I’m just curious I myself was 280 lbs plus,I cut my carbs I’m now 190 lbs plus I still eat my veggies and meat I’m almost 69 sure I have a few aches but like I said I’m almost 69, I reckon that goes with the territory, I reckon I’ll stick to raising my veggies for right now just in case meat gets too expensive and maybe so regulated it’s might be convenient now but I’m thinking of the turnover time crops to raising and depending on just meat, I reckon to each’s own do what right for yourself
We shouldn't have aches and pains at 69. Or at 99, for that matter. Maybe consider trying it for a month and see how you go. You might be surprised, and you can always go back to your old ways if this isn't for you.
Our digestive system cannot digest fiber or plant cellulose and because of that it's hard to pull any nutrition out of the plants. Beef lamb on the other hand have a very complex digestive system especially designed to eat grass and ferments in their gut and redigest it so all that nutrition is fully taken out of the grass and put into their meat and we eat the meat and we get the all the nutrition and the fats to raise our cholesterol so we can start making hormones and feeling better.
Thanks for all the good advice and schooling I appreciate it y’all are a lot older wiser and smarter than myself no doubt but I’ll still eat my veggies and meat as I can just in case things go in the wrong direction now tell me if I’m wrong again but wasn’t Adam and Eve placed in the garden?
@@denniswillie949 After Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God curse the ground and it brought forth thorns and thistles meaning that all the vegetation changed and became wild. No vegetable that we eat today is the same as it was in the beginning. In the beginning all the animals ate the herbs of the field but after man's fall the animals started to kill one another and eat one another. Most of the vegetables you see today or only discovered about 500 years ago when Christopher Columbus and the Spaniards discovered these wild vegetables in Central and South America like the tomatoes squash potatoes sweet potatoes which are all very high in oxalates and cause inflammation in the body. I guess I don't understand why people go vegetarian/veggan, nor why anyone goes straight carnivore. The good Lord made meat and vegetables and fruit for us to eat. Why not eat all ov it and just avoid what's bad. Sugar, bad grains and (pasta, white potatoes) etc.? Even grains used to be good in my great grandmothers day. Honey is fine, but sugar is lethal. I've been FDing very low fat ground beef for a few years. Haven't tried roast and steaks. One TH-camr claims if you don't have oxygen that some fat is fine. I haven't been doing this for enough years to know but they do sell FD ground beef commercially. I guess time will tell. I used to rinse the cooked ground beef in hot water before FDing, but frankly it was flavorless. The fat is where the flavor is. That is why when they started making everything fat free they had to add a lot of sugar and flavoring so it wouldn't be nasty. America went fat free in food and became obese. That's because it isn't the fat that makes one fat, it's the sugar and other carbs.
@River4life On April 8, 2003, Atkins was admitted to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain after having slipped on ice and hit his head, but fell into a coma. He died on April 17, at age 72. His clogged arteries were caused by infection he had in the past.
Thank you!!! So glad to know I can freeze dry meat. This is great news!
Thanks for putting this out Pete!

I've got the large Harvest Right freeze dryer and love it. Never heard of this brand but it looks to be nice quality.

Where are yall at in east texas? Always good to see local folks homesteading!
Thank you for this video! I’ve been wanting to FD meats to clear my freezer. I’m nervous it won’t be lean enough.

In my opinion, you went from one extreme to another. We humans are omnivores.
If we were we should be doing better on carbs, but we don’t.
Can you freeze dry fat pcs & eat later, or does that not wrk. As I heard you say you must remove the fat before the process. Thks!
@@Mountain_Valley_Sky unfortunately fat will not freeze dry 🙁
Looks good...did you put a certain amount per bag like 4 or do you do it by weight or bag fullness ?
@@LWYOffGridHomestead I just eyeballed the quantity per bag so that they looked about equal.

Sure you can cook it anyway you like, I just used the electric pressure cooker because it's fast and simple.
Better stock up on shelf stable tallow, eating protein with no fat will kill you fast.
Ever can/jar meat with a pressure cooker?
@@openedmind5619 We'll be doing that soon

To prepare for some kind of "future apocalypse"... nonsense and funny at the same time. :)

Cows have four stomachs so they are set up to process plants. We have only one and we aren’t.
