  • Leo Kearse: Glastonbury is a festival of hypocrisy! At the moment 200,000 woke lefties are holding hands in a field in Somerset - calling for open borders, an end to racism and net zero. What a bunch of hypocrites.

    Well said Leo. I lived a couple of miles from Pilton in the mid 80s. At that time hippies were still allowed to attend. When Eavis' daughter took over she quickly put an end to that. It's a long way from the festivals I went to back in the late 60s. This nonsense is a BBC staff outing.

      @@nigelbevan8449 Sounds like you had the true glory days 👌.
      I started going in 97 , had the time of my life for a comparably small amount of money for a few years.
      Went a few times after the wall was built but it went downhill entertainment wise and became excruciatingly expensive so I decided to watch from home.
      Even that’s ruined now though, it’s free apart from TV/BBC license but there’s hardly anyone worth watching anymore.
      My son asked me years ago “why is rock music so lame now dad?”
      I told him it’s up to his generation to figure that one out….. He’s 16 now, in a band with his friends from school, and is a far better guitarist and bassist then I ever was… Needless to say I’m very proud of him.

      @@darrencowell2247 Good evening Darren, hope you and your family are well... It's amusing to hear your Son to say that relating to rock music of today... I'm at the age (63), where I suppose I'm stuck in a bit of a time warp and listen to 70s rock bands.. I was 11 years old when I went to the Glastonbury Fayre back in 1971. I was a guitarist myself, I have a fender accustic guitar,also a Rickenbacker 4001 stereo made in 1974.. But,alas, arthritis is taking it's toll on my hands and fingers,so picking up a guitar and trying to play a few chords can be very painful... Tell your Son to keep playing the guitar and listen to some really good guitarist's from the 70s... Rory Gallagher, Steve Hillage, Steve Marriot, Robin Trower, Tony TS McPhee to name but a few.... Oh.... And Peter Green.

    • @Sinnerboy88
      @Sinnerboy88 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't really mind more vegan stores, personally. What I don't like is how veganism, compassion for animals and indeed the greater environment in general seems to be is hated by so many on the right because lefty cunts have taken it up as one of the causes they champion. I'm as right wing in my beliefs as they come and I was vegan for years for a moral reasons. I care a lot more about animals than I do woke cunts. It just disheartens me to see many on the right think they can't care for animals anymore because the left do and they don't want to be seen doing something the same as the left. Same with pollution, a lot of right leaning folk are happy to side with mega corporations who are ruining the planet for their grandchildren, just to spite the left. It's absurd. It's important not to let our own views be clouded by our disgust at lefties.. it's easy to fall into a trap of being against everything they are for, and supporting everything they are against. In fact, they do the exact same thing also. They'll go against anything seen as a "right" belief, regardless if it's in their own best interests or nor. The old saying, cutting off the nose to spite the face always comes to mind. It's a relatively new phenomenon however. Back in the late 80s and 90s there were surveys done and political views weren't anywhere near as divided. Right wing conservatives would maybe hold 60% right views while maybe share 40% with people on the left.. However nowadays it's more like 90%+ each sides own.. left and right are in complete opposition. There's never been so much extremity in viewpoints.. it's likely a result of increased tensions and growing dislike for the other. No matter how much I dislike someone.. I still remind myself to think with my own mind. If someone I dislike has a viewpoint that I agree with I'm not going to force myself, consciously or subconsciously, to disagree with it. I try to keep a free mind.

    There is certainly an air of outright hypocrisy at the event but there's also so much effort that goes into launching the festival, specifically for the three days it's properly open to punters, and those who engineer and facilitate everything (the workers and crew members) are some of the hardest working folks you could ever have the pleasure of meeting.
    I was there for eleven days last year as part of a crew and the days preceding the actual opening of Glastonbury were so glorious you honestly had to be there. This is the only other time in my life that I have experienced a festival and it was totally worth the ten-year interval since the first.
    Yes, of course all the questionable elements of modern neo-marxism were there (border walls, indoctrination tents, appearances by Zelenskytine and Thunderborg, etc.) but then amidst the furniture of NWO set design you still experience the offshoots of wonderful connections, reunions, celebrations and uplifting escape that I'm sure have always run thematic through bygone incarnations of music festivals.
    Sometimes you have to think in greater latitude and observe with intimate estimation of your environment to see that even in the thick of it delusion and hypocrisy are not as victorious as they might first appear.
