What amazes me is how Suruga-ya manages to offer such deals with FREE international shipping. I hope they’re not losing any money! They’re absolutely awesome!
It really is an amazing deal. Free DHL shipping, cheap yen, good prices. I also got hooked but more on the hardware side, with free shipping I can order the cheap bulky stuff and not worry about the shipping cost. Suragaya is flying under the radar for most gamers/collectors so I'm enjoying it while it lasts. Its probably even cheaper than buying games in Japan if you factor in transportation costs.
Suruga-ya has been my secret obsession for a few months now too. I built my entire Japanese PS1 collection on their site and free shipping alone haha. Plus I love that they list box only consoles and stuff too. Finally my lose collection feels complete. Getting 150ish games and weird huge accessories WITH free shipping and a good currency transfer rate is an unbeatable deal.
If you had like any region 3ds with custom firmware, you could basically just play whatever region game you want. Since the 3DS is EOL anyways, it´s really worth checking out. It´s not like it would change the experience, it just adds options which you can take advantage of or simply ignore.

Surugaya .COM (not .JP) does international shipping. Their inventories are mostly the same with some key differences (the Japanese site has arcade boards/Neo Geo MVS games, for example).
You have to pay import taxes regardless, so it's cheaper in the sense that you don't have to pay shipping and handling fees on top of it. Shipping alone can cost you more than the value of the stuff you're buying, so it's definitely worth even with the import fees.
I just tried ordering from surugaya for the first time, my order was the 3 donkey kong country games on SF and it came to about $37USD (35 euro for me), and then I got stung with import taxes of 166% / have to pay US$70 just to collect the damn order. I'm guessing its not like that in the US at all? Europe/Austria absolutely sucks to import anything.
I sorted it out, DHL the shipping company was trying to screw me, had them write up a new tax invoice. we still pay tax on imports, 20% not the amount they were hoping@@studiomg3212

Do they ship internationally or did you use a forwarding service? I've got a hunger only surugaya can fix.

They are cheaper but i always get hit with a import charge that pretty much counteracts the free shipping. Do you get hit with import charges as well?

In U.S. I believe there is no import tax on anything until you spend more than $800. I haven’t had to pay import taxes on anything I’ve ordered!
