I never had a deckmate. Had to haul back, dump the bag, set back, sort and shuck, hopefully before the tow ended. Cap stayed in the wheelhouse in front of the heater.
I was a scallop fisherman back in the 80s we made great money but bust ass work im paying for now im in my late ,50 s my body Is busted up hurts every morning i get up
@@johnygonagetu7096 Oh man what a great question. My favorite of what we have the option of are fresh Gulf Oysters and big fat Blue Crabs. I hope you guys have those options too.
It would be nice if the camera was postioned where a person could see what they were doing. Something about looking at the backside of two guys for 30 minutes just wasn't very interesting. Then watching some guy taking a piss was enough for me. I'd rather not waste my time.
The bottom of the ocean here in Maine is a combo of mud flats and rocks. No coral grows here. Water is too cold and dark. So what exactly are the drags hurting?
All the bottom that's dragged is mostly gravel. It's actually kinda healthy for the bottom to be sturred up, lobsters and crabs like a clean bottom. Dredging from like a clam boat could be harmful I suppose but the sand is constantly moving and filling itself back in.
Anyone who likes that comment must have been a scalloper, because only scallopers know that saying. Started scalloping in my 20s, quit when I was 54 and as my friend JoJo used to say “it’s a good life if you don’t, weaken!”
Ashes didn't bother me ...... But the Deckhand taking a "leak" on the sorting table, .... That was gross !! (I know it get washed off constantly, ... just the thought is GROSS )

Holy cow! Serious chop on the water!!! Deck hands earned their money that day.
Not a chop. Slow rollers.
I love dragging for scallops I love the cold the storms and the work I've been offshore a few times but we mainly work out of cobscook bay

I fish for scallops in the 90s. I made as much money as a gynecologist and drank a enough beer to float a battleship. Enough said .
We used to have the saying that I spent all my money on booze drugs cheap women damn glad I didn't waste any

As a former scallop SCUBA diver I wish you could see what those heavy drag nets do to the bottom of the ocean.

Nothing. I dive up here all the time.
