I love that you guys are back making car content. I mean I love the other "Life" content but I fell in love with the channel because of EPIC car rebuilds.
Let’s be honest man. They build some cool cars but they never fully finish them and they leave them unprotected in fields to rot. At least with the house builds there are inspections so you know the projects get built to completion
You should pull the plugs and blow each cylinder out with compressed air . Add a little oil in each. Make sure it rotates smooth by hand. You can do a compression test to make sure all is good, Then button up and start. Edit: probably worth getting a scope to see inside also.
@@cbarr0288 The valves would only bend if something solid got into a cylinder. Or if a piston hit the valves. Over revving an engine or a broken timing chain or timing belt causes bent valves. The rods will bend if liquid gets into the cylinders and the engine was running or when trying to crank it over.. You can't compress a liquid. So if the valves were closed and oil or anti freeze is in the cylinder when the pistons moves up in the cylinder. If enough liquid is in that cylinder, it will stop the piston from moving. The rod is the weakest part and will bend. Now you are a Mechanic. 👍🏽
Good idea! Maybe spray some deep creep into each cylinder aswell! Then let it sit a day , rotating the motor every couple hours by hand…we did this to a deutz diesel we have that was seized up…..just make sure you run it out before you start it!….just a little fyi
I really like their attitude and general disposition! They’re such country boys, Porsche is so foreign to them. They didn’t know the Turbo was AWD and AWS. It’s so inspiring to see simple dudes, like myself, taking on such a complicated task. They’re really doing it! The location for the new house is just unbelievable! The drone shots showing how it’s literally a carved out open space on top of a mountain, was breathtaking!
@@Kornatzz yeah and they’ll have to acid wash or grind the surface to get rid of the oil stains. Not to mention all the tools/machinery that will need to be moved.
As a 911 owner...if the car stayed running for any length of time on its side, the engine is probably toast, also if the oil leaked out and someone started it at the salvage yard....toast. These engines a susceptible to piston scoring so if you get the plugs out definitely use a scope to check the cylinder walls.

As soon as the car detects a roll over or an airbag going off the car automatically turns off right away, and as someone else say, most salvage auctions don't let you look at the cars anymore.
As a former 911 AWD owner myself the easiest way to work on these engines is to drop the entire engine/transmission assembly out the bottom. There is no room to do anything when they're up in the car.
If the motor isn't hydrolocked or seized, it could be a stuck starter. Just have to tap it lightly with a hammer while trying to crank off and on until it spins
I the starter or engine was locked up. It would demand a massive current which would dim the dssh lights dramatically. Prob pyrotechnic fuse on main battery cable running from front to back of car.With battery in the front. Ignition should have power which would allow operation of the starter solenoid. IMO lol

Whenever i get a car with mechanical damage the first thing i do is manually rotate the engine at the crank bolt. even with spark plugs in you can rotate the engine with some resistance. If you are pushing really hard and it doesnt budge then you either have seized rods from lack of oil because this is the first and quickest thing that overheats without oil. Or you skipped timing and valves are pushing into pistons. Which can also be from a lack of of oil pressure due to hydraulic timing chain tensioners.
Crazy to see the growth after not visiting the channel in a while, I remember the first videos I watched were the F250 rebuild videos so seeing how far y'all have gotten is awesome. Can't wait to see what's next.
You removed the rear bumper cover, good!! That needs to be done to do most of the maintenance of this car. Also, the spark plugs are accessible from the underside of the car after you remove a cover on each side of the engine, all will be revealed. These engines take almost 10 quarts of oil so if you remove the engine drain plug and very little comes out, you need to add oil before proceeding. Good luck!

O personally would reach out to the previous owner and get all the details straight from him or her this way you will know what your up against on the engine these motors are prone for scoring on normal use let alone a rollover especially if the engine was still running and having the oil in the turbos is not uncommon especially with it tipped on its side so there would likely be some oil that leaked in there! But has far has the oil pan being empty it could have leaked out due to the crack in the pan I believe it has a saftey feature on the motor it will not allow it to start if no oil is present in the crankcase! But I would get has much information from the previous owner is where I would start this will determine what direction you guys need to go in good luck and looking foward to the build hopefully lol !!!
un bolt the starter motor, wire it up, and then see if it spins over when wired back up to the car. This will show if thecstarter is working or if you have an electrical issue or the engine is locked up. Keep up the great vids
My first memories in life at age 3, was the new house my three uncles built for my folks. I can still smell the mortar when the blocks went up, the fresh tar on the outside for the waterproofing, the fresh cut pine of the framing. I recall watching the ceilings getting plastered, a lost art in our modern era, and the old, white-haired mason building the chimney from the basement up.
The air lines to the front are for the front lip lift to be able to drive over speedbumps, etc. Whatever you do please keep it clean. You don't need crazy HP. Porsche is about putting the power to the ground and making use of every horse! I am so excited cited for this build!!!!
I spy some Dang Sauce in the vent!! I know because I got my 2 bottles from Amazon and that stuff is great, and my wife likes it as well! First use was on some quesadillas with just a little dab of sour cream in the Dang Sauce and I couldn’t get enough! Great content as well by the way…Loved all the drone shots!!

Dang sauce everywhere! Put a little dab on that turbo line, and maybe that will break it loose (lol). I don't know how you guys do it all. I'm spinning just watching all of these projects.
Great video the drone shots of the of the house was awesome. Hopefully you'll be able to get the Porche on a lift probably easier to work on. I'd pull the motor put it on an engine stand and go through it. The engines in the Porche are fairly simple to remove and you'll be able to really look at any other damages besides the oil pan.
When you flip the engine over all the oil ran into the cylinders and the engine is most likely hydrolock remove the spark plugs crank the engine all the oil will pump out and hopefully it'll start after. Good luck
It's a dry sump engine, so it's unlikely too much oil got in there, but it doesn't take much of anything to hydrolock it! I wouldn't even have considered trying to crank that engine over until the plugs were pulled and turned over by hand!

The Porsche build is pretty awesome. More than likely the pyrofuse killed the car and all the oil went passed the ring and hydro locked it. On another note...I sense Simeon's family is growing. Who knows?🤫
I'm pretty sure the cylinders are full of oil. Creating a lock up. Remove turbo pull plugs and turn it over . Please don't try to start it without getting the oil out. Porsche starter are high torque and it will burn that bad boy up quick

Time to get to basics of that motor. Pull plugs and look in the cylinders with a scope. Then hand crank over the motor. Go from there. Stay safe and be well.
I happen to have a lot of the parts they need listed in my ebay store. A lot of them are the only ones available. I doubled the prices after I saw they got this project. I’m hoping the boys can keep me well fed this summer. 🤞
I recently worked on a 911 turbo. These cars are notorious for allowing the oil to sneak down some baffles and go into places of the engine where it shouldn’t. You have to remove the 2 rear Intercooler pipes , and let all the oil drain out that the boost pushed it to there . Then drain the oil from oil pan , and only add 75% of the cars oil capacity back into the engine , let it run and clear itself through , then top off the oil as needed. She should be running mint after that, good luck boys 👍
I was thinking the same thing. Misha Charoudin did a cost breakdown of the damages on their 911 gt2 RS MR and they came in at around 195k. I know different car, but parts are expensive on these ones. Plus if the motor is toast it’s even more.
@@BarmbekRedneck There's no such thing as a "996 GT2 RS MR", it's a 991, same as this one, and the GT2 RS is a 400k+ car, parts for them are very hard to find, that's why they are more expensive to fix.
Hey guys! You’ll need to drop the motor a bit get access to all the plugs. Pretty sure that engine is locked unfortunately. Great series so far, love your videos.
Not sure I agree. If the motor was locked up, the starter would demand so much current (around a thousand amps) it would dim the dash lights noticeably. I suspect the pyrotechnic fuse on the heavy duty battery cable has blown. (which happens with airbag operation) But there is still power to the ignition so the solenoid will still activate requiring about 8-10 amps

Most areas have a 'fire safety code' that requires a steel cabinet for oils,and cleaners.I've been waiting to see if they get 1 as the shop progresses.Their city's code enforcement has been an ass over everything else,so...?

Add a coat of sealer on your floors so that the oil doesn’t stain it and makes cleaning easier. Otherwise you will have oil stain all over the new floors or at-least where you plan to work on the cars
They were watching the oil drip on the floor from that crack in the pan !! Should have put an epoxy coating or at least put a good sealer on the floor as soon as it was under roof !!! Just dumb !!!
add some DANG SAUCE to the motor oil in that car and watch that thing fire right up no problem! It will probably add 100% horsepower too!! Can't wait to see some results.😝

Who else is glad that they are finally using a normal tool box and tools. They have all them lifts but still using jack stands 😆
On temporary power in the shop still, need 240v to run the lifts.
plus its easier to get to all the pannels while stripping the car on jack stands :)
They probably couldn’t get the car up in the lift.
Lifts are to store the cars not to work on them

Sorry, nur los like you don't know too much about Porsche. The engine itself has no big oil pan. There is an oil tank which takes the most of the oil.
These boys have so much energy that they can make it exciting to watch paint dry!

Pull the entire sub frame out to access the engine. You probably have oil hydro locking the engine since the car was up side down.

You must remove plugs in case cylinders are full of oil if you hydrolock you will wreck engine bend rods and things

The engine is not hydro locked it is a dry sump engine and also a boxster so the heads are already at the same level as the crank

Great video the drone shots of the of the house was awesome. Hopefully you'll be able to get the Porche on a lift probably easier to work on. I'd pull the motor put it on an engine stand and go through it. The engines in the Porche are fairly simple to remove and you'll be able to really look at any other damages besides the oil pan.
When you flip the engine over all the oil ran into the cylinders and the engine is most likely hydrolock remove the spark plugs crank the engine all the oil will pump out and hopefully it'll start after. Good luck
It's a dry sump engine, so it's unlikely too much oil got in there, but it doesn't take much of anything to hydrolock it! I wouldn't even have considered trying to crank that engine over until the plugs were pulled and turned over by hand!

I'm pretty sure the cylinders are full of oil. Creating a lock up. Remove turbo pull plugs and turn it over . Please don't try to start it without getting the oil out. Porsche starter are high torque and it will burn that bad boy up quick

I recently worked on a 911 turbo. These cars are notorious for allowing the oil to sneak down some baffles and go into places of the engine where it shouldn’t. You have to remove the 2 rear Intercooler pipes , and let all the oil drain out that the boost pushed it to there .
Then drain the oil from oil pan , and only add 75% of the cars oil capacity back into the engine , let it run and clear itself through , then top off the oil as needed.
She should be running mint after that, good luck boys 👍

I was thinking the same thing. Misha Charoudin did a cost breakdown of the damages on their 911 gt2 RS MR and they came in at around 195k. I know different car, but parts are expensive on these ones. Plus if the motor is toast it’s even more.
@@BarmbekRedneck There's no such thing as a "996 GT2 RS MR", it's a 991, same as this one, and the GT2 RS is a 400k+ car, parts for them are very hard to find, that's why they are more expensive to fix.

Hey guys! You’ll need to drop the motor a bit get access to all the plugs. Pretty sure that engine is locked unfortunately. Great series so far, love your videos.
Not sure I agree. If the motor was locked up, the starter would demand so much current (around a thousand amps) it would dim the dash lights noticeably. I suspect the pyrotechnic fuse on the heavy duty battery cable has blown. (which happens with airbag operation) But there is still power to the ignition so the solenoid will still activate requiring about 8-10 amps

Most areas have a 'fire safety code' that requires a steel cabinet for oils,and cleaners.I've been waiting to see if they get 1 as the shop progresses.Their city's code enforcement has been an ass over everything else,so...?

Since the rear axles are damaged maybe the trans. is locked causing the engine not to turn over.
It is not even trying so at this point it seems it may be electrical.

Add a coat of sealer on your floors so that the oil doesn’t stain it and makes cleaning easier. Otherwise you will have oil stain all over the new floors or at-least where you plan to work on the cars

They were watching the oil drip on the floor from that crack in the pan !! Should have put an epoxy coating or at least put a good sealer on the floor as soon as it was under roof !!! Just dumb !!!

Hydro = water. Hydrolock = water ingress to cylinders. Perhaps you meant petroleum locked? 😂
If the engine is Hydrolocked, there is likely to be a lot more internal damage.

Usually oil in that amount is probably from a roll over….turbos do have oil lines going to them, but shouldn’t leak unless ruptured
All oil fed turbos will have some oil blowby that gets into the IC/intake track, that's pretty normal.
