In 1972 a Captain Bobby Franklin asked me to get 3 volunteers to go out to Otter Lake for the summer. We were to check military I.D.'s for the use of row boats, life jackets and fishing poles. Mr. Gary Heath ought to have seen the cabin we stayed in. The one in the video looks like a millionaire's mansion compared to the cozy little cabin we stayed in. What a great way to spend a summer. I had orders to Vietnam but as the War came to a close, I was transferred to Ft. Richardson. I loved it up there, and had planned to stay, but in not for family illnesses. Lived in Mountain View in a small basement apartment with my wife and 2yr.old daughter. I have more than a few stories of the goings-on that summer. I'm 66 years old now but often times recant those young and adventurous times. Smoked my first joint on the hill just above that cabin overlooking this beautiful lake. all the while listening to "Guitar Man by Bread", I know Squaresville, but the lake changes your mood to easy times. If anybody knows a Jimmy Stutsman photographer, from the Northern states like Wisconsin, Michigan, He was the one I was with. I've looked for him, with no luck, Just wondered how his life turned out. I live in Ft. Myers, Florida, because if you ever experienced -75 degrees below 0, you'd know.
This Alaskan lake has so many wild moose in this area that they often sit down on the picnic tables and benches and go swimming in Otter lake to look for5 Common Loons!!!!

We used to go out there all the time when I was a kid in the 1980s. One time I had like 50 mosquito bites it was brutal. lol.

the pubic should probably be aware these cabins will burn to the ground. they don't meet Fire standards in any way. I've seen it happen
