Beartooth is an amazing band. The singer Caleb Shomo started as the keyboardist in Attack Attack on their first album, then did screams on the second album, and full vocals on the third album, and then left AA to do his own thing. He was only a young kid when he started in Attack Attack. He formed Beartooth and for the first few albums he wrote and recorded everything, every instrument, ever vocal, he produced it, mixed it all, and eventually he found a lineup that works really well and now they all do their own parts, but it's still a very Caleb Shomo style. He's shirtless because I think he's just extremely proud of his weight loss and glow up over the years, which he legitimately deserves. He's worked so hard for what he has and he deserves everything.
The chorus in this song hooks me hard. Also check out ‘In Between’ and ‘Hated’. I like how they can take darker lyrics and make it feel almost upbeat and catchy.
You wouldn't believe how this guy has transformed over the last few years from being so dark with their music and bad mental health and addiction and being overweight to the positivity on this new album. HAVE to check out their single Might Love Myself from a couple weeks ago
Another great reaction Rachel! Also you've probably been recommended them a lot already but i genuinely think you'll love anything I Prevail does, anything really off their Lifelines EP or their Trauma / True Power albums are stellar - specifically i think you'd really like Bad Things or There's Fear in Letting Go, Scars, Alone, Hurricane, Gasoline!
Caleb Shomo the singer for Beartooth has had a pretty interesting story. He was originally the keyboardist for the band Attack Attack, an electronicore band that coined the term "crabcore" because a meme that went viral because of a music video where the members do a synchronized crab squat during the breakdown. He later replaced the vocalist Austin Carlile (whose now known for the band Of Mice and Men). After replacing Austin, Caleb dealt with a lot of bullying from the fans who would bring up Calebs weight (he was a little overweight at the time) and basically say he'd never compare to Austin which contributed to Caleb developing horrible depression and body dismorphia. He managed to lose weight and get in the shape he is now but he developed a drinking problem. After a few years and revording 2 albums as the vocalist for Attack Attack he decided to cut ties and start Beartooth which quickly blew up after a video of a live show of the crowd going absolutely nuts to the point of ripping a ceiling fan down from the ceiling went semi viral. They continued to get bigger with their super energetic live shows, their over the top catchy choruses and their topic matter dealing with alcohol addiction, severe depression, abuse along with other things that related well to their fans. About a year ago Caleb announced that he was 6 months sober and started working on a more upbeat and uplifting album which Riptide I believe was the first single of.
Beartooth is so good at breakdowns and catchy choruses. Caleb is an absolute master. If you're looking for another really good, and recent release by these guys Might Love Myself is incredible.
Fun fact time! So Caleb is a Christian and he just quit drinking about a year ago and decided he wasn't going to let his depression win and began fighting back and looking to the sky instead of his feet.
Yes he did get sober. As far as religion goes. Keep it out of the music. There’s a lot of “fucks” said through the album. I don’t remember the last time me sayin “F’s” in church was accepted
He’s not actually a Christian. He was raised Christian, but, according to his latest interview with The Punk Rock MBA, Christianity hasn’t been a part of his life for a long time. His dad is a pastor though.
@@ryanfitzgerald7969don’t recall anything in the Bible about specific words being bad. If I say “fuck” because I stub my toe, or I say “crap” for the same reason, I have the exact same intention. Which arbitrary words are considered “bad” is mostly due to classism. All that said, if god is real, I’m sure he cares way more about how you treat people than which words you use. If you yell and scream at someone with the intention of hurting them, it’s bad regardless of which words you use
@@ryanfitzgerald7969also, I don’t think what is acceptable in church has ever been a good measure of what is and is not Christian behavior. “Acceptable in church” is determined by men, not god. Is the church your authority, or is it god?
Earned a sub from me. I love beartooth! They’re so good live and don’t get the recognition they should! Should give Sunshine! And Might love myself a listen as well :)
several years ago when BearTooth were just starting out they opened for someone that I brought my daughter to go see... August Burns Red or A Day To Remember or some "stuff" like that, but we heard King Of Anything which hadnt even been a single yet... I told her... these guys could really evolve into something really good. Beginning bands don't sound like that. This Metal version of Backstreet Boys music was a little weird for me, but you really need to do King Of Anything... BearTooth's best song by a lot
1. You win the Dope Dad award for taking your daughter to ABR or ADTR 2. You didn't vibe with this track? I thought the dancing choruses were like "yeah, this doesn't make sense, but fuck it" it just went to the whole message of the album. Caleb feeling better and writing songs about his recovery, plus breakdowns haha
Hay! Ple try react om new UDO video for upcoming album Touchdown 2023. New video: UDO - Touchdown Its more fast and sound more heavier than previous albums. More reminiscent of UDO - "Timebomb" era 1991
i think ive heard him talk about the song on a podcast and the lyrics are so sick, it gets tiring that every song is about sadboy shit. its cool to be destructive and depressed but this song is just about rejecting that
Gives a bit of Nickelback vibes, a bit heavier in breakdown, and yes this poopy voice, honestly i do not like this, its rare a band makes the transtions good from pop voice to metal, and i feel here it also 2 separate things, that dont really melt to one. Only band i can think of that master this is Electric callboy, might be more of them, just what popped to my head..

As far as I know Caleb Shomo is still the one writing, recording and mixing EVERYTHING on every album with the exception of disease.
Beartooth wasn’t meant to be a band in the first place too which is cool
The chorus in this song hooks me hard. Also check out ‘In Between’ and ‘Hated’. I like how they can take darker lyrics and make it feel almost upbeat and catchy.
One of my favorite band, especially live ! Caleb is an animal ! He's the chorus king, he don't miss !
You wouldn't believe how this guy has transformed over the last few years from being so dark with their music and bad mental health and addiction and being overweight to the positivity on this new album. HAVE to check out their single Might Love Myself from a couple weeks ago
Wanna vibe more to some Beartooth breakdowns and melodies? Sunshine! is their next song you absolutely have to check
Another great reaction Rachel!
