What is it that causes frame 17 to import only 8 frames? Thanks for the tutorial!

      limit timer
if you look closer, the frame 17 is right near the gray zone, exactly 8 frames away from it
Gray zone is the end of the set timer for animation, the one author inputs at the start of the canvas creation

Is it a game changer really then?
    - This will take 2 minutes in premiere pro or AE with a whole bunch of other available templates.
    - And if you don't like it you can switch to other ones, BUT if you don't like this one in procreate dreams, you basically wasted half an hour.

It is. Maybe not for reproducing things that already exist (because as you mention there would already be templates and plugins), mostly for experimenting on a platform that has most of the tools you need to create and export. In a creative process most people are not in a hurry. Production is another story. Dreams has the same appeal for animators as Procreate had for illustrators. Adobe products reign supreme in a professional pipeline but Procreate has been number 1 paid app in the store for years straight. That says a lot.

Yes its not just made for professionals but also for someone who just wants to animate without having to watch 20 hour video just to learn how to use a software..its not yet there but looking at procreates record i think i will be far far better in few years..

Never comparing it directly to Adobe products, which went years ignoring customer request for bug fixes and used to cost $600 per year. And yes Adobe has the advantage of years of adding features, becoming an industry standard. But for a new user like me trying Dreams after witnessing the progress of Procreate, it‘s worth trying. If Affinity by Serif hadn’t come along, Adobe would‘ve still ignored its users, treating them like a captive audience. Remember Deneba‘s Canvas business fail?
