Baalor! This is off topic from the vid, but I wanted to comment and thank you. I've been trying to Slay the Spire since October, and today I finally finished Act 4 with every character. You and Frost helped immeasurably
Love catching a Baalor post early in the morn, I do agree with others that the robo voice has got to go. Also adding some post run commentary would be cool!
hey Baalorlord, been a big fan of your channel for a little while now. I must admit, i tought i was pretty good at the game... but after watching djaw dropping drun after djaw dropping run i can say, i'm terribly average. Loved the run! as a piece of well intende feedback: maybe dont do the computer voice, it doesn't sound to well and your own voice is quite spectaculair to listen to.

Completely agreed. I must have watched 100+ hours of this content by now and have loved it (won’t be long until ive watched more than I’ve played) but the robot voice is immediately impersonal and tacky where these videos are actually the exact opposite of that. The robot voice feels like the antithesis of Baalor.
I don't get it. I thought it was a joke at first, but it's still here. He's gonna lose alot of viewers if it doesn't get cut soon. There is a 100% consensus that it is unnecessary. He is also not answering any questions about it on stream. This is tone deaf and frustrating. Shows a complete lack of empathy for his viewers. It's not even that big of a deal, it's easily skipped. Just annoying that he won't even address it.
The heart of the cards (deck makes no sense to me whatsoever but slays). I don't use some of these cards at all because I don't understand how to play them effectively - burning pact, purify, dual wield, second wind.
Burning pact, purity, and second wind are all exhast cards. Exhaust is good at its core because removing cards from your deck is good. The less cards you have, the more often you can play your best cards over and over. Burning pact has a secondary effect of drawing cards, which is good for the same reason. The more card draw you have, the faster you cycle your deck and the more often you can play your good cards. Second wind is a very strong card that exhausts alot of cards, and gives you alot of block. If you Exhaust all non-attack cards, then all you have left is attack cards and can end most hallway fights pretty quickly. You also have cards that synergize with exhaust, like feel no pain and dark embrace. These let you draw/block for each exhausted card. Purity let's you pick a set of cards to exhaust. The easiest example of why this is good is starter cards. Strikes are bad, removing strikes is good. Purity let's you remove 3 (5 upgraded) cards temporarily each combat. Dual wield is a little more complex. It's a bit niche, not great in every deck. It's good for scaling, usually. Making Feel No Pain X3 provides alot of block for the late game fights. It can also me used for meta-scaling, things like feed can be copied and proccd multiple times in a fight. It can also be used in a few wacky infinite combos, repeatedly copying cards and shuffling a small deck.
The term "abuse" for tactical use of game mechanics is ridiculous. If relics like dead branch are supposed to give extra cards when exhausting, then they're not being abused. A more accurate term to use is exploit for utilizing their effects to their maximum potential.
Genuine comment because I think repetitive "Robot voice sucks" isn't very productive. If you want to add a little intro at the start to tease the run a little, I think that's totally valid, but I think the robot voice is overused and pretty widely disliked IN GENERAL. Not just on the channel. Tossing in a little recorded intro would likely do a better job roping in new viewers, and I think the recommendation of including the deck/run review at the end is a good idea - but is pretty unrelated to the robot voice complaint. I'd say either remove the little intro entirely or replace it with something else (Maybe like the intros Frost Prime does?). I also (personally) love the little edits throughout the video with relic interactions and card appearances.
Agreed that a prerecorded intro would be more palatable, though I can't speak to whether it will rope viewers in. Current TTS script doesn't add any value either, just says "Today, I play (character) in Ascension 20. This build gets crazy."
So this probably isnt going to get seen but the editor has his twitter in the description of every video, also very interesting that if you look through said twitter one of his recent tweets says “youtube is about creativity > AI”, which is almost exactly the opposite of the robo voice. Also what the robo voice says is not necessary. Today i played spire, and the run was crazy. I recommend you take your own advice and ditch the ai
I'll continue to Echo (form) the opinion that the robot voice at the start of the video is wholly unnecessary and personally makes the video seem far trashier. It's the kind of stuff low-quality production content uses and I can't help but think of those when I hear crap TTS voices.
Copied from his website: Baalor's challenge for 2023 is to "master" every card and relic in the game. Mastering a relic means beating the Heart with that relic. Mastering a card means he needs to have two distinct copies of the card - upgraded or not - in his permanent deck (visible on the run history screen) on beating the Heart. This includes duplicates of curses.
Finishing a run with a card in your deck "masters" it. I think finishing means beating heart, don't think it needs to be a20 tho Edit: guy above explained better, didn't see it
I think Baalor's new self-imposed challenge is to win a game with every single card but he has to have two copies of it at the end of the run. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but that should be pretty close.
@@ep1633 nah not quite, mastering is beating the heart with 2 copies of any given card. Relics are also being mastered in this challenge, just requiring a win with each relic.
If you want to pull in viewers better go back to the format you had previously, more interesting titles and a teaser intro. Now its boring titles and an equally boring intro with the tts bot. Theres a reason clickbait works, maybe try it
Eh. Have you ever watched northernlion? I think baalors audience is alot like NLs. There is a core audience that will watch damn near every video, every time. Those are the people he should be worried about alienating, not necessarily pulling new viewers.

That's 2500 a month total gross income. 15% goes to taxes in that Canadian tax bracket, ~$2125/month. That is equivalent to fast food wages right now, homie. He keeps all the sponsored stuff separated off the main chanel, barely mentions the hello fresh thing. He's gotta make some extra money somehow.

It’s actually funny to me to see sooo many people wiggin out over it. It’s like 10 seconds of the hour+ video 😂. Legendary Spire content, but 10 seconds of robot voice is almost a deal breaker for some lol.
It's just very jarring and makes it feel like a low effort content farm channel. I just can't see any reason why they even decided it was a good idea in the first place. It certainly doesn't make me want to watch the video.
I think it’s because how a lot of low quality contents in TikTok are using similar style, so we kinda associate it with that, and after watching Baalor for quite a bit, doesn’t feel like it matches his style. With all his personality that loves dad jokes, I feel like his audience is usually more mature, and more mature audience usually doesn’t see those TikTok style videos in positive light
Please KEEP the robot voice intro. I love seeing all these first worlders QQ about something so trivial, and their comments increase engagement. Smart move!
