    I build a similar one with my daughter, except we had a buzzer instead of the light and we set it up in her room as a test to catch a thief.

    I was under the impression that one should always use a resistor in series with the LED so that it wouldn't draw more current than the micor:bit could supply, damaging the pin it was connected to. Do you know whether this is unneccessary?

    Thanks Pauric. This was really most helpful. I was trying to code a "Bird Alarm' for glass bead Artists and this did the trick.

    The microbit only supplies 3v, but the sensors you provided in the link operate between 4v and 20v. Is this going to be a problem?

      It worked for me with 3v without any issue
