So he agreed to a loan then defaulted on it??? How is this a news story
We live in a society that basically requires a car for life outside of our largest cities.
Cana... dah.

$5000 for brakes and tires? He should shopped around for a better price not a shady loan.
No kidding, IF you're so BROKE that you agree to a $5000 car repair loan and CAN'T make your payments why TF are you driving a nice 2018 Electra for? Go take your broke ass to the Bus stop homie.
And for a Hyundia?!! Not a Lamborghini.
less than $400 to $1000 for brake job but 5k is crazy
@@rochester3 It said for brakes, tires and other repairs, so we don't really know what got done.
@@almontoya5703 not 5k for a brand new 2024 lol
$5 K , this guy got scammed hard
it is just business
one born every minute
Don’t take a loan if you cannot afford it
Buddy got scammed big time
Pay your bills & read your contract.
And again, "I was scared". This generation really appears hapless, helpless, and pathetic.
Why is this news? This is what should happen if you default on a loan. I feel bad for him, but this is reality.
Dear fellow humans: new rotors and pads for a generic car are a few hundred dollars. And you can change them yourself.
You can give birth on your kitchen table too. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
@@xeero24wait so to you giving birth to literal human is just as hard as changing the brakes on a Hyundai I assure you the two are not the same.

Loan to fix a car? Brakes and tires are not repairs. They're maintenance.
It said there was also repairs on top of replacing brakes and tires
He got a predatory loan for repairs which cost more than the price I paid for my perfectly usable car. Hard to have sympathy here.
Politicians want you to walk!
Sounds like it is easier for loan company to reposes a car than for the police to recover a stolen car with a tracker and after to owner gave them its location.
That’s the real story
I don't get it. It said he still owes money to the bank, so technically the bank kinda still owns the car so how would that work if Wippy can repossess it if he doesn't really own the car but the bank does
@almontoya5703 yeah I'm not sure how "whippy" would be able to sell it with a financing lien on it. Most likely they will wait till he defaults on the car financing and then the bank will pay whippy $5000 and then auction it
@@juliogonzo2718 I see
I don't follow why this is news story...if the wippy app had a lien on car, he missed payments and it got repoed...there is no story here...the 5k on brakes and tires is absurd too
I am pretty sure brakes and tires doesn’t cost $5k. However, there will be borrowing fee plus very high interest rate and referral fee for mechanic shop for bringing the client.
He certainly went the wrong mechanic to get break’s and tires put on that car.
It shouldn’t need new tires already?
Probably not even new breaks?
Who’s scamming who?
He missed 2 car payments, tf he thought was gonna happen?
The company was within their right to repossess the vehicle. The banks do the same thing get over it.
It said that he still owes the bank for the car. So how would that work? The bank technically still owns the car until payment is fully paid. How can Wippy repossess it if the bank kinda still owns it
Guys!!!! Listen up, just to clarify something. This guy took out a secured loan ON HIS CAR.
You CAN take out unsecured loans. This doesn’t have to be the only option. Definitely read the fine print. And know what you are getting into.
Wippy? WTF From $4,900 to $9,708 in 3 months? The mafia loan sharks aren't even that shady.
Beware of a mechanics that also sells 'Wippy financing' - for a commission likely. A license to charge more.
Bailiff fees, towing fee, impound fee.. late fees.. NSF fees. It's his fault for signing on to a loan he couldn't afford. A contract is a contract.
Guaranteed the shop gets a cut
Brake swaps are some of the easiest and safe maintenance items like changing oil and filters. Buy tires from tire rack and bring car to shop to swap. Takes that 4K down to 1.5K - Save thousands doing simple tasks we've always done
He’s lucky that Elantra’s crappy GDI engine didn’t suffer a catastrophic failure
You could’ve bought used tires from Kijiji and put after market brakes on ur car it would’ve only cost 500 max
I dont want to sound cruel and harsh......
but this guy didnt have $5k laying around to fix his car, but has a child on the way, which is a heck of a lot more expensive....
Get your priorities in check
Brakes and tires are not even "repairs". They're maintenance.
This is so sad
I am wondering what was wrong with the car that was costing so high to service? Must have been some serious issues!
I don't blame them for taking back the car if you weren't going to pay for it. You shouldn't be taking out loans or buying cars you can't afford to pay for.
Take public transit for awhile until you can afford to repair the car. Or try to find a cheaper repair solution.
Perhaps order the parts yourself and find an autoshop like Canadian Tire who will install them for you. Sometimes they are much cheaper.
It said that he still owes the bank for the car. How can Wippy take the car back if the bank owns it? How does that work?
Buy now, pay later schemes are terrible!
Like others here said, he got scammed hard. A modern euro luxury car brakes and tires is just $3k. Guy should’ve bought a $2k junker with his money situation.
Yup for $5000 he could have bought a functioning car
my friend had his car proposed after he lost all his money from when we used to gamble in. 2017 and 2018
The fact that they want almost $10,000 all at once shows they have 0 interest in you paying them back, they just want the vehicle for resale/auction.
How would that work? It says he still owes the bank for the car. So the bank still owns the car. The bank would have to repossess the car but wippy has it
That Wippy company look / act like Loan Sharks by telling him that he now has to pay double to get the car back………….
I’ll keep my car for the next 10 years.
I wish I could say the same but mine is already 20 years old 😂
That Hyundai looks like a Mazda
This news ?
That enough to get repo!
…replace/repair suspension components (I.e. control arms, rear shocks, links and outer/inner tie rods), front/rear brake jobs, 4 used tires, front windshield and minor body repair due to rust…..all for $1150.00 out-the-door price. Folks, you got to shop around and source various auto parts yourself in order to save a buck or two…BTW, brake jobs are the biggest money maker for every shop out there.
driving is a privilege for the rich
vote hard
besides car repair is a simple trade
sheesh...airheads
Brakes and tires cost almost $5K on a Hyundai? For one thing, this guy got fleeced. I know everything's going up in price but there's no way the bill should have been anywhere near that. For two, he was dumb enough to agree to pay the almost $5K for essentially "maintenance" items (probably at a ridiculous interest rate to boot). Wippy sounds like a loan shark in disguise; just another company preying on people's desperation. Then, he was surprised when his car got repossessed for defaulting on the loan payments. What did he expect? I'm sorry, but I don't feel sorry for this guy. You live within your means and learn to build an emergency fund so when things like this happen you don't HAVE TO borrow the money.
Surprise surprise surprise. Daaaa . What do you mean l got no money. 😂
Yes it’s how it is finance company can take it
Life is hard when youre a rightwing fredumber bahahahahahha
That's what happens when you have no credit or an overdraft at your bank, you rely on crooked 3rd party credit and the act surprised when they snatch your car for missing 2 payments, they count on you being the risk that you are lol. Might as well take out a reverse mortgage on your house thinking that's free money while you're at it too, you trust Tom Selleck don't you? lol.
Sounds like he got gouged on the repair bill to begin with; but, that would be more of a news story than defaulting on a repair loan, the garage should be reported to "Consumer Protection Ontario"!!!
