I missed my opportunity to take this bad boy out for a demo when I was down having my bike serviced. I won't make the same mistake next go round. Great stuff.
Glad to see BMW back on Market my problem supposed to be a cruiser no fairing windshield or saddlebags then bail problem most modern people do not want to fool with adjusting valves on a long trip
Hey Jim. Head over to www.bmwmotorcycles.com and play around with the configurator for the R18. There are windshields, bags, exhausts and many more accessories available for the R18! Also, this engine has been designed to not be overly complicated, and there are Motorrad centers all over the world that would be able to assist with repairs if you do find yourself needing assistance on a long trip.
Thanks for the quick walk around anthony. The R18 is a cool bike thats for sure. It looks awesome. But I found the sound very disappointing, I expected a lot more from a twin this big.
@@roadglide Sure, but BMW Boxers usually sound pretty good (deep rumbling sound) from factory. I wonder why the R18 sounds so "thin" (imho). Does it even have the exhaust flap (like the R1250R)?
No exhaust flap that I could see. I think they just cautioned a bit on the quiet side for this bike. It's easy to make a bike louder, harder to make it quieter.
@@supersportsanthony I’d begin by raising the ride height some, adding dual clocks, or replacing the existing one with a larger one.I’d replace the exhaust with a round one like you’d see on. Moto Guzzi or Triumph.Kit it out with panniers,an optional two up seat with backrest and go from there.
That Bmw R18 costs 17,500 dollars in USA that’s just 14,900 euros & the same bike here in Ireland costs 27,000 euros, I can’t see it selling that well due to this price point , I think they will have to bring out a less expensive version to compete against its competitors
I don't think he meant it in a negative way, moreso perhaps in the way were those things shouldn't be of as much consequence when considering a special bike like this. But to answer your question, it's hard to say right now what the maintenance costs will be. The bike JUST came out, and is the first of its kind. But due to the design of the bike, I can't imagine much.
Depends on your income, but its definitely possible. BMWs are pretty reliable. But it would be a shame to daily drive a R18 in the rain. Thats for sure.
The way the bike jerked you after starting it...🤣🤣🤣...1800ccm...man what a monster. Too bad the sound isn't at that monster level. But being BMW it's going to be fast too so no Harley roumble on a german machine. Too precise to be unnecessary lound. But I bet it sounds beautiful live.
Monster is right! It definitely gives you some feedback when you rev the engine. I had the same thought about the noise, but when you look at the design of the exhaust, it seems like alot of the emissions equipment is located in the tailpipes. A nice set of aftermarket pipes will wake this beast right up!
@@supersportsanthony Well all new bikes are suffering from the same new EURO 5/6 emission regulations in that regard. Those exhaust pipes are getting bigger and bigger and consequently quieter. But it doesn't make any sence if you can legally put an aftermarket exhaust that are not up to the same standard. Shame because I wouldn't have the heart to change anything on the bike accept maybe those retro badges.
I agree, the stock exhaust is so pretty it would be a shame to change it. My fingers are crossed the aftermarket companies come up with an exhaust that delivers the appropriate sound while keeping the design the same or similar. If not I may need to open the pipes up myself and clear all that crap out!
My Honda CX 500 does the same "jerking" or rocking from side to side when the engine is starting up/running. I love it! Adds so much to the character of the bike. It fits the R18 nicely, Ill probably never own one but Im happy they didnt eliminate the jerking using a countershaft (like they did on the 1250s).
The sooner you order the better. Most dealers will be getting a few extra First Editions outside of their preordered units, but once they are all spoken for, you won't be able to get one.
The most hideous excuse of a motorcycle in the history of mankind. I wouldn't piss on this hideous monstrosity even if it was on fire. An absolute pointless heap of scrap metal that should never be allowed on a public highway. An absolute shitter ridden by moronic cretins for more money than any real enthusiasm for motorcycling
A beautiful and amazing piece of machinery and a total joy to ride
An instant classic..
cool Vid, Big Huge from Germany
Thanks!

This bike is absolutly beautiful❤️

Mine was constructed Sept 7, and is in transit. Ordered mine Oct 2019.
That's awesome, congrats!
I personally think it looks little to modern, if it looked little more classic I'd love it.
Not bad for their first try though!

Hey Chris, expected more in what way?
After market pipes will awaken this beast. Harleys, Indians Triumphs same thing. All cruisers get some form of exhaust.

Needs some tweaking, but it’s a good first effort.
I'm looking forward to seeing how they get modified in the future.

Hey bud, not sure if that is exactly accurate. The bikes in this video both cost $22,265 USD.
Anthony Lewis at 22,265 that’s still under 19,000 euros , price of that bike on the road here is 27,119 euros
Where will you ride with a 1800cc with only a 16 litres fuel tank?
To each gas station along your route!
Verbrauch ca 5,5 Liter auf 100km. => 290Km / Fueltank.
Can this bike be a daily driven motorcycle? How much does maintenance cost?
If you gotta ask, you can not afford it.
Flying Dog that’s one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard/read. You’re an idiot.
Well said, and often true.

You were instructed to hit me up when you got the first delivery partner....
These ones are sold, when our display unit comes in you'll know!
