Hi, my name is Derek Krahn and I'm on the board at the Center for Animal Research and Education (CARE), a non-profit big cat sanctuary in Texas. That's where I got the idea for the name, 'BigCatDerek'. As you can probably already tell, I'm not that creative.
I've been working with big cats for over ten years, and I consider these big fuzzy beasts to be my dear friends. Most of my content is lighthearted, unscripted, and minimally edited dialogue in the CARE compound, meaning I like to walk around and talk to myself while I film my big cat friends.
I guess I do vlogs, but I'm not very 'vloggy', if that makes any sense. That's not to say that I have anything against more 'vlogier' vloggers or that my style of un-vloggy vlogging is superior to more 'vloggy' vlogging. I'm just trying to say that my inherent sense of vloginess is what it is.
Anyway, hope you like the vids!

So many pretty kitties today. Fire and her bleppy self, Princess and her roly-poly self, Slade and his mooey, preachy self…and the Bobbos using their new enlargement to their advantage.
BTW, Derek, I think you’re right about tigers being among the most affectionate of the Panthera genus, second only to snow yepurds. And they’re cute, too…I wouldn’t want one as a pet, though, as we’ve established.
Speaking of tigers, I love how this cast taught us that Ezra is an @$$ man.
Dirk - you're not the soft spoken Bob Ross of Big Cats, but neither the outrageously loud and proud Tiger King. How about the Steve Irwin of Big Cats? Oh, wait...that didn't turn out so well for him. Oh, now I made myself sad... 😥

@bluesysaxman Uh no. 🤣😂 Mika is an apex predator on a meat diet. She will never look wet rat in her life. Tigers are solid muscles due to diet and lifestyle. Plus when tigers are wet they look like big ol tanks. 😆🤣😂
