I always enjoy an "Alessio tasting". You definitely need to try authentic Texas barbecue. Also try the famous vinegar based North Carolina barbecue. I honestly don't think it is fair to compare different types of barbecue i.e. Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee and North Carolina. You will find outstanding barbecue in each region. It really depends on the flavors that you enjoy. Happy Birthday Jessi 🎂. You are such a sweet, intelligent and humorous couple that always brightens my day when I watch you. 🫂❤️
Exactly! It's like asking, what's better, steak or lobster? It depends on what you like. BTW, the best cracklins I ever had are made at a little Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Madisonville, LA, just north of New Orleans. They're like pure crack. The seasoning is incredible - you can't stop eating them! But if you hate cracklins, it's like saying they're the best dog turds - it won't mean anything to you.

I know the trend amongst TH-camrs lately for BBQ is to try Terry Black's, but I recommend the original Hutchins BBQ in McKinney (north of Dallas) if you're ever in the area..all the meats are great, the "Texas Twinkie" (a jalapeno pepper stuffed w/ brisket and cheese, wrapped in bacon) is great, the broccoli salad is great and must be some grandma's secret family recipe, and they give complementary dessert (banana pudding or peach cobbler). There's Goldie's in Fort Worth (west of Dallas) which was rated #1 in Texas most recently - haven't had Goldie's yet so can't comment but i'm sure it's also great! Pecan Lodge is also ranked high on most lists. There's also a Terry Black's location in Dallas proper, so you could technically try a number of great spots on the same trip but that would be a very heavy week. 😁
This is coming from a Houstonian. We are proud of our Houston BBQ, but if you want the best, it's Franklin's in Austin. Hands down, best I've ever had.
You pretty much can't go wrong with BBQ in the south. Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama all have different styles of BBQ and they are all pretty good. But yeah....you gotta hit Texas especially for beef BBQ and don't forget about Kansas....there is some really good BBQ in Kansas City!!
Salt and Smoke and Sugarfire are pretty solid in STL but there’s a lot of mid BBQ there. Ribs are solid though. KC is where I’d send them for sure out of the two. So many good places for BBQ there.
Happy birthday sweet Jessi!! I just got home from South Carolina trying their style BBQ for the first time. My favorite most succulent pulled pork and brisket at Lewis BBQ! I hope this year is filled with tasty food and tons of joy 💗🎂🍔

Hey guys, I’d say aside from NC, add a couple more places to the BBQ try list; Kansas City is a BBQ mecca; also add Santa Maria, Cali to the list for open pit BBQ like tri-tip beef. There’s a place I’ve seen called O’Connors in Sacramento area, but Santa Maria is the heart of Cali BBQ. Good job on the reviews guys. BTW, cracklings are made from pork belly (cut where bacon comes from).
Never been a fan of cracklins until recently I tried “The Best Stop” in Scott, LA and I died and went to heaven. AMAZING!!!! Best cracklins on the planet!! I used to live across the street from Blue Oak. It is really good bbq, up there with the best bbq in the city. The chopped brisket sandwich is the best thing they have and their brussel sprouts are great and the cracklins are dangerous when you can walk across the street and eat them every day. The mac and cheese is ok, but really heavy on the garlic. Central City BBQ has the best ribs in the city and their spoon bread is crack.
