I’d love to try a Georgia peach pie! All the peaches we get here in Texas are awful. You could literally break out the windows in someone’s house with them. So sad.
I have Tennessee roots but have lived in Texas for a while now. To me, Tennessee is all about pork, but in Texas, brisket is king. I travel a lot, so i have tried Eastern Carolina style, as well as Kansas City style BBQ. All are good in their own unique ways. Any time i go home to TN, i fill up on BBQ! You must come to Texas and try the brisket! I would do some research because there are several award winning pitmasters with amazing stories and amazing BBQ, too. Look up Snows BBQ, and learn about Ms. Tootsie. She is in her 80s and gets up at 3 am to fire up and run the pits. She is a force. Lockhart, TX has great BBQ. Either way, food cooked from the heart! 😊 Cheers from a TN/TX girl!

I always loved the Italians. They have spunk for life..I love Italy,an amazing country..
I live in Texas. This looks amazing. I’m surprisingly interested in the coleslaw. It’s so different from here. The food looks the same, but you can tell it was made with different ingredients and done in a slightly different way. Can’t wait to try it! Being from Texas, I love barbecue from all over. Korean is a great one. Mexican barbecues are fun. Kind of like Hawaiian luaus. I know meat raffles and giveaways are a popular thing in the northern states. So much barbecue, so little money.
Texas Brisket is bar none, but TN has pork butt down. To be honest I don't think I have had smoked wings outside of Tn that were better either. Then again I don't think I have tried them from a BBQ joint, mostly just some backwoods folk and a hand built smoker lol.

@@TheJayhawker83 Go to Santa Maria, Cali and you will get some the best open pit BBQ you ever want, tri-tip or other big cuts of meat over a pit with adjustable grid. It is a thing.
Tennessee here. I think BBQ is all about a personal taste. I am just proud they came here! We aren't better than Texas or Carolinas or KC, we all have own! But we sure know how to throw down on it!
I always feel each of the major BBQ regions have their own charm and rather than to compare, just enjoy each. Texas has good pork but it is really about the beef, while Tennessee is mostly about the pork. I love the dry simple flavors of Texas BBQ, but I love the really good sauces that Tennessee BBQ has. Overall, I feel they are both good since both really know how to smoke a good slab of meat.
Texas-brisket, South and North Carolina-pulled Pork (a war of sauces), Tennessee - dry rubbed ribs, Missouri (which has 2 styles Kansas City and St. Louis) wet ribs. I have lived in all 4 states. Hash and rice in SC is good too!
@@greenmachine5600 I did live in Alabama as a kid but my memories of white sauce are vague but it counts, so yes let’s add it to the list! I do remember Milo’s though!
I am Texas born and raised. You need to come here and have all of our smoked meats and also the Tex-Mex to top off your trip. I think you'll change your minds.
I've never been to Texas but I worked in a Texas BBQ restaurant that was started by natives Texans in Texas in the late 1940s. They then moved their business to my state in the 1950s. I love Texas BBQ and one thing that Texas gave us in BBQ that often goes unmentioned is German Sausage. Amazing.
In Texas there are 2 Black's BBQ places. One was founded by Gary Black called "Black's BBQ" and the other was founded by Terry Black, which is obviously "Terry Black's BBQ". One small detail is that Terry Black learned how to BBQ while working in his father's BBQ restaurant. Who was his father, but the one and only Gary Black. Also Texas BBQ joints smoke their briskets 12-16+ hours to give them a very noticeable smoke ring on the edge of the meat. You would also want to try a beef rib, which most that I've seen would be as big as Jessi's head (chin to top of forehead).
Born and raised Texan here, we don't really do pulled pork in traditional Texas BBQ, which is not to say there aren't lots of BBQ places that serve it. It's just not the main thing here. If you go to the BBQ capital of Texas (yes there is an official BBQ capital in Texas) Lockhart, TX. You'll find several places like Kreuz Market (pronounced Cryts) or Black's BBQ, or Smitty's. They don't have pork except for ribs and ham. Beef ribs are the main thing when it comes to ribs. The main offerings in a true Texas BBQ place are brisket, link sausage, beef ribs, chicken, and turkey, usually served on butcher paper with a plastic fork (except Smitty's which only gives you a plastic knife) and slices of white bread and onions. Sauce is optional but usually you have to ask for it. Hope you get a chance to try it.
I wonder if the use of sauces in Tennessee/Alabama has to do with it being more pork centered. Like using vinegar based sauces to cut through all the fatty richness of like let's say pork shoulder.
By and large the Carolina’s are known for their Pulled Pork, Tennessee is known for its BBQ Ribs & Nashville HOT Chicken, & Texas is known for their BBQ Brisket. I have been to all three places I would tend to agree. Maybe you found a hidden gem though. Keep up the Great Work!!! -Nick Giardiello
I've been all over and each region seems to do one thing better than the rest. Carolina and East Tennessee for pulled pork, which is so good it doesn't need sauce. West Tennessee (Memphis) and KC for ribs, Texas for brisket. You'll get a lot of really good bbq in other places with their own takes but those are traditionally the best. Like Alabama has the white sauce for pulled pork which is so good. The southwest is fantastic with the TexMex/BBQ blends.
Howdy, native Texan here! I just wanna say, I love you guys so much. You're both amazing and your videos always bring me so much happiness! You definitely have to try Texas BBQ, you won't be disappointed. Brisket is always my most favorite, chopped beef brisket sandwiches are my go-to. My dad also makes some of the best I've ever had, he's had so many people pay him just to cook theirs. It's absolutely amazing! I can't wait to see your adventures here in Texas(cause I'm sure you guys are planning that! Hopefully! 😄) and hear your thoughts!!
I used to live in Texas (absolutely despise Texas summer) and their brisket is honestly one of the best foods I've had. For you to say that there's an even better one makes me wanna go to Tennessee and find out for myself.
I live in KC and KC is known for having great BBQ but I can’t say it’s the best having never tried Texas, Memphis, Carolina, or Tennessee. It’s just personal preference. If you ask 10 people in KC what their favorite BBQ is you might get 10 different answers. I’ve seen videos of Terry Blacks and it looks amazing! Definitely on my bucket list. If you make it to KC and go to Jack Stack, they have the best beans EVER and please try the Cheesy Potato Bake and Fire Kissed Wings! Love you guys.
I can't wait to see you try Texas BBQ. There are so many fantastic places that I don’t know how you are going to choose just one. I have to say that each BBQ region in the U.S. has amazing but very different flavor. Each has a different style and base flavor; vinegar, dry rub, tomato, sweet, smokey, but they are all terrific. You really need to try North Carolina and Kansas City BBQ also.
My son lives outside of Chattanooga, TN and they have both Puckett's and Edley's. When you visited Puckett's some time ago and were very happy with it, I told my son we should go there next time I went to visit. He said Edley's was much better and you have just verified that! LOCKHART TX. Is the official capital of BBQ in the state. So named by resolution #1024 in the 76th state legislature. There are several top ranked BBQ establishments in the town including the orginal Blacks BBQ which then spawned Terry Blacks BBQ a few years ago. That story is to involved to tell now. ( You can research the history LOCKHART Tx and Blacks BBQ if you want to know more. It's interesting reading. ) However, both Blacks BBQ and Terry Blacks BBQ along with several others in town are as good as it gets in Texas. It is only 30 mi from Austin Texas which also is home to some top ranked BBQ joints as well such as Franklin, Interstellar, and Coopers. All in all, there are many great choices in this area for you guy's to choose from in order to get an introduction to REAL TEXAS BBQ. All this from a loud and proud eastern Texas counyry boy who has eaten alot of BBQ in his 61 years all around this geat state. Love listening to you two. Take care and ENJOY the adventure !!!
Love you both! I am from Texas and I think our brisket is the best but…I’ve never been to Tennessee. I’ll let y’all know once I’ve tried this place. Tennessee is on my shortlist for the next state to visit next!
Yes! I have been fortunate enough to visit every state except Hawaii, although I have luau style roasted pork. While there are many areas with great barbecue, Texas is the champion! The brisket at Terry Black’s is literally dripping with juicy goodness.
Texas is king of brisket for sure. Tennessee maybe pulled pork. That brisket I couldn’t even see a smoke ring on. Brisket and beef ribs in Texas will make you want to move.
They also got lean brisket which isn't nearly as juicy as fatty...😂 they need to try the fatty brisket..they can scrape the middle fat layer out if it's too much.
When you said, "Tennessee BBQ is the best" at the beginning I involuntarily scoffed, but immediately shut up when I saw the tray. It did look good enough to shut me up.
I love watching you, guys and I have finally found out, that Mac'n Cheese means macaroni and cheese, thanks to you! Greetings from the Czech Republic. 🇨🇿
i worked at a "fast food" style bbq joint in texas. every order came with pickles and pickled onions, it is pretty great. it gives the same interaction you had with the vinegar based cole slaw. the brisket though. parts of texas use different wood to smoke it and it completely changes the flavor. where i come from, san antonio, we would mostly use mesquite wood. but many other places north of SA in texas use oak. theres a texas bbq place in japan that imports mesquite from texas
If you are lucky enough to visit Edley's and their daily special is the Smoked Pork Belly, get it! Its absolutely fantastic and comes with a blueberry bbq sauce that is out of this world.
The best BBQ (and sides too) is in this little local place in a tiny town in Oklahoma!!! Buffalo Grill in Hugo, Oklahoma. The town also known as Circus City. There is an Elephant sanctuary, a circus cemetary, a train museum (that also includes some circus memorabilia).
Them ribs look tough! No need to fall off the bone, but when you bite them. It should come off the bone easy! I can't wait for you two come to Texas, and get a beef rib! AKA dinosaur bone! Lol I'm not going to say anything about what style of barbecue you like, people's tastes are different! But I will say do not compare a barbecue from a state that you have never had! Hope to see you in Texas soon! Y'all stay safe!
From Texas here…. Your brisket needs a better smoke ring. That’s how we do it in Texas. Also, we can kick ass with pork too. My mom and I made some St. Louis ribs that fell straight off the bone. They were amazing. Then she made her fantastic homemade potato salad that will literally make your mouth water! Enjoy your BBQ tour and all the great food along the way! 😃🥩🍖🦴
I think Alessio meant Kansas City towards the end. Maybe St. Louis. My favorite BBQ place is Lewis BBQ in Charleston SC. Texas style BBQ. Chopped brisket sandwich is my go to. Their green chil corn pudding is fantastic.
I been following you two for quite awhile and had no idea Jessi was raised in My home state. And you couldn't have picked a better place to try BBQ. Not much of. Brisket fan no matter who cooks it but cannot go wrong with Ribs or Pulled pork in Tennessee. Especially West and Middle Tennessee
I love your channel. I'm not a Texan and I've never been there yet, but I do know that you poked a bear when you said, IRRESPONSIBLY, that Texas BBQ was less than Tennessee BBQ when you've NEVER BEEN TO TEXAS!!! Like the slogan says, "Don't Mess with Texas." You've, essentially, committed culinary blasphemy similar to breaking the spaghetti before dropping it in UNsalted boiling water!😢😢😢😢
@@ThePasinisI currently live in Texas: I'm with Jessi about preferring Eastern-style. If you do make it here, come to McKinney (north of Dallas) to Hutchins - it's the best Texas barbecue I've had, but Texas is so big there are many variations. Buon appetito!
Every state has their favorites. Here in eastern Oklahoma we have some great BBQ restaurants (Akins) (Wildhorse) Even in Bakersfield, CA, there’s a great BBQ restaurant (Salty’s)
I have been fortunate enough to try numerous bbq establishments all across the country and I can definitely tell you that you shouldn’t slip on Texas bbq. As they say in the south, Bless your Heart!
I always laugh when I hear someone say St. Louis Style ribs. Here in St. Louis, Do you know what we call Ribs? Give you One Guess!!! That's right, Ribs.. LOL. Of Course, It refers to the Cut style we use in St. Louis. Also, As I have lived in several States, I get the Differences, But BBQ, here in St. Louis always meant, Whatever was put on the BBQ. That simple. Want a Burger, are you putting on the BBQ, Yep, BBQ. LOL... Thanks for the entertainment, The Food looks great. You Two are a lot of fun. BTW, Love Tennessee BBQ, Yummm.
I have worked at Martins in middle Tn. That plate looked better than martins because of the grilled cornbread versus martins white bread on the platters. Martins does great but I want to try Eddys.
My husband and I took a trip to Austin Tx for BBQ. Just BBQ. I'm not a huge meat eater but the BBQ there was amazing. We have also had BBQ in North Carolina and the eastern pulled pork is so good. I now want to try to all the Southern states and try the BBQ. Tennessee is top of my list. That BBQ looked pretty good
You guys definitely need to give Shotgun Willie's a try at their new location up in Madison. Definitely the best brisket you can get in middle Tennessee and their ribs absolutely compete with the best in Nashville. And the sausage...
Pegleg Porker there in Nashville has the best Mac & Cheese I've ever ate. And I'm not a fan of Mac & Cheese by any stretch. I will have to try Edley's now. Thank you, you two!
I remember doing Annual Training in Italy and I got a hot meal brought to me at the gate I was working. It was BBQ with ribs. The Italian guards wouldn't touch it.😂 Also, Edleys is great!
I was recently visiting my daughter who lives in Corpus Christi, Texas, and one weekend, we took a short trip to San Antonio. We had the best barbecue ever, hands down.
So there's such a thing as vinegar and mayo coleslaw. 16 oz of shredded cabbage and a shredded carrot. Mix 1/2 cup of Hellmann's mayo, 2 tbls sugar, 1 tbls of apple cider vinegar, 1 and 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Then add the cabbage and carrots, mix well. Put in fridge for hour or longer to let the juices, sauce form. Of course you can season to taste. I add a littke garlic powder. This is so good. I use the prepared store bought cabbage alot but it's best when you shred your own. More juicy.
Decatur, Alabama - just down the interstate from Nashville, has Bob's Gibson's - my uncle from Texas always insisted we eat there at least once whenever he visited. (Probably too late for you to run down there,, though.)
I’m a Texan living in Tennessee. TN bbq is just totally different than TX bbq. I don’t even consider them the same. If you’re ever in central Texas go to Schoepf’s in Belton. (Halfway between Austin and Waco)
You can't have the best pulled pork until you've had it whole hog from SC. It is life changing. TN has great BBQ but anything beef related TX takes the trophy.

Alessio is a true honorary Southern Gentleman ❤ love to you both! Cheers! 🫶🏾🤌👍🤩🤩
Love you both! I am from Texas and I think our brisket is the best but…I’ve never been to Tennessee. I’ll let y’all know once I’ve tried this place. Tennessee is on my shortlist for the next state to visit next!
Same, native Texan here! I've told my husband we need to take a trip to Tennessee too so it's on our list!
Texas here. Bless your hearts thinking you’re eating anything that comes even close to Texas BBQ. However, we will let this slight slide, for now. 😂
Yes! I have been fortunate enough to visit every state except Hawaii, although I have luau style roasted pork. While there are many areas with great barbecue, Texas is the champion! The brisket at Terry Black’s is literally dripping with juicy goodness.
@@janfitzgerald3615Their beef ribs are amazeballs too!
Hey now we have a joint in East TN best bbq in the south 24 years in a row in southern living magazine
@@chrischalkley8571 it was bought out by Time magazine, need I say more?
1:24 Wife is from TN. Happy wife, happy life.
Welcome to Tennessee. Cheers from Tennessee
if you go to Texas. go to Franklin's, Goldie's, Snow's, Terry Blacks
Never heard of Goldie's. I'll have to 2 look it up.
Welcome to Tennessee!! Hope you enjoyed our little piece of paradise 😊
If you don’t mind all the trump cult people.
I once teased Alessio for being a Frenchman, however, it makes me smile watching him become an American. 😁
Alessio might've been thinking of Kansas City bbq.... love your videos!
it is in our list! I need to study where to go
@@ThePasinisI say go to Kansas City Joe’s. Or Q39. Or both.
KC Joes is my favorite. Especially the turkey and the "crack fries"
i worked at a "fast food" style bbq joint in texas. every order came with pickles and pickled onions, it is pretty great. it gives the same interaction you had with the vinegar based cole slaw. the brisket though. parts of texas use different wood to smoke it and it completely changes the flavor. where i come from, san antonio, we would mostly use mesquite wood. but many other places north of SA in texas use oak. theres a texas bbq place in japan that imports mesquite from texas
So happy bro. I have friends in Aviano. Such a positive outlook. Always happy... Ya'll make me smile! That's difficult to do. Thank you.
Girl knows how to eat! Bbq is my faaaaavirite foods ❤ and ALWAYS with pickles lol
Looks delicious. Not sure what state has the best and I have traveled many places 😊.
What fun watching you both eat. It makes me want to join you and sad that I can't.
I'm sending everyone loving and peace-filled thoughts.
The BBQ in Memphis was wonderful!
You are making me DROOL! Looks so fantastic! A Wisconsin girl here, who LOVES Southern BBQ!!
North Carolina is so big on their BBQ that we hold a yearly festival. That is the best time for BBQ during the Lexington BBQ Festival.
Amazing emotions! That is sooooo cute!!! 😊❤ Great videos! Go on! 😊
You done messed up Amore!!!😜🤗
you're right but my head can't imagine anything good about this. it's like trying to imagine the size of the universe
@@ThePasinisI currently live in Texas: I'm with Jessi about preferring Eastern-style. If you do make it here, come to McKinney (north of Dallas) to Hutchins - it's the best Texas barbecue I've had, but Texas is so big there are many variations. Buon appetito!
YES! Thank you!!!
hello texan here
alessio
i understand you
and im not offended.
keep on giving us funny videos
you guys are awesome
Get him to Texas to taste Texas style BBQ stat! Cheers from a fellow southerner!
Every state has their favorites. Here in eastern Oklahoma we have some great BBQ restaurants (Akins) (Wildhorse) Even in Bakersfield, CA, there’s a great BBQ restaurant (Salty’s)
Peg Leg Porker and Bringles Smoking Oasis are great, too. The brisket at Bringles is fantastic!
Nobody cares, it’s just a style of ribs get over it
Their grits are amazing too! The burnt ends and grits meal is my go to.
7:27 Christopher Walken makes an appearance 🤣
Their pudding and catfish are spot on as well
We LOVE Jack Cawthon's in Nashville. We go there at least once a month. So good.
It's my understanding that Italians have exquisite taste in food and fashion vs the French - I enjoy watching your videos 👍
My husband had barbecue for lunch so I'm smelling it while watching your video. Looks like you had an amazing meal! When are you going to Texas? 😊
wish all the places gave you silverware can’t stand plastic
I have worked at Martins in middle Tn. That plate looked better than martins because of the grilled cornbread versus martins white bread on the platters. Martins does great but I want to try Eddys.
Love watching your channel. Keep it up
Corn bread looks really GOOD!
That BBQ looked pretty good
North Carolina here😊 Come on down and try our BBQ 😊
You guys definitely need to give Shotgun Willie's a try at their new location up in Madison. Definitely the best brisket you can get in middle Tennessee and their ribs absolutely compete with the best in Nashville. And the sausage...
Oh boy, I can't wait for ya'll to come to Texas! If you think Tennessee brisket is good, then you'll be in heaven when you have Texas brisket.
Pegleg Porker there in Nashville has the best Mac & Cheese I've ever ate. And I'm not a fan of Mac & Cheese by any stretch. I will have to try Edley's now. Thank you, you two!
Texas is a big place. You need to travel all of it
I remember doing Annual Training in Italy and I got a hot meal brought to me at the gate I was working. It was BBQ with ribs. The Italian guards wouldn't touch it.😂
Also, Edleys is great!
Hey guys! Love your new content. Bbq is amazing ❤
Im in SE TN and I prefer pulled pork and beef ribs. Brisket is ok.
As a native Tennessean, I approve this video. Bon appetit.
That bbq and all the rest looks off the chain! I might have tried to eat the whole thing! Hahaha OMG.
I was recently visiting my daughter who lives in Corpus Christi, Texas, and one weekend, we took a short trip to San Antonio. We had the best barbecue ever, hands down.
Try going to Lockheart, Taylor, or Austin. Then tell my that SA is the best. There are a few in Houston as well.
More juicy.
That is the kind of coleslaw they serve with barbeque here in western ky.
@@b1k2q34 slaw on barbeque sandwich....yum!
Decatur, Alabama - just down the interstate from Nashville, has Bob's Gibson's - my uncle from Texas always insisted we eat there at least once whenever he visited. (Probably too late for you to run down there,, though.)
If you go to Texas to have genuine Beef, Chicken, and Sausage bbq make sure you try a local joint, not a chain.
Snows BBQ in Texas would be a fun experience and good content for you.
I’m a Texan living in Tennessee. TN bbq is just totally different than TX bbq. I don’t even consider them the same. Brisket in TX is amazing…choose between moist or lean and the bbq sauce it more vinegary than TN bbq sauce. TX also excels at smoked sausages and links. If you’re ever in central Texas go to Schoepf’s in Belton. (Halfway between Austin and Waco)
You can't have the best pulled pork until you've had it whole hog from SC. It is life changing. TN has great BBQ but anything beef related TX takes the trophy.
Texas has the best beef barbecue hands down and North Carolina has the best pulled pork barbecue. What your eating looks amazing
ha ha ha
We live in Nashville and love Edley's. My husband loves the brisket especially. I happen to love their baked beans. Their my fave thing on their menu.
