Dear AlphaOmegaSin: Thank you for always remembering us who live overseas who has to pay $100 for a brand new title. You know how much Street Fighter 4 costed when it was first launched? $150!!!
AlphaOmegaSin elmohead is right tysm for remembering people that lives outside of us im from brazil and games here are way insane expensive consoles are impossible idk how much pokemon omega ruby or alpha sapphire costs on us but in brazil is freaking 200$ for the game idk who made DLC but that person is messed up the head, cause not alot of people can pay for dlcs to play the full game
I remember reading multiple articles on the Internet from when Capcom released ultimate marvel vs Capcom 3.Capcom said that the extra content on the ultimate edition couldn't be put on the standard edition because of the complications of the tsunami that hit Japan in that time.I am being serous
I remember when all DLCs are free, use to be inclue in the game update mostly, and even come with magazine back cases! Some years ago everyone decide to start charging for DLCs all over the place, even steam try to charge players for using mods! Call of duty is the main reason why that start. One thing is you buy a expansion pack, another is DLCs. DLCs normally don't add nothing important to the game is always like weapons, maps or characters... In some cases but just a few they call DLCs but infact is a expansion pack and that lead to a miss understanding from many what is a expansion pack and what is DLC. When the DLCs is actually is a expansion pack is a good deal, but most of the times is just a simple DLC with things what should come with game updates like many years ago, if they update correctly the games like before, they will fix bugs and add new content to keep the players interest about the game and make others buy it. DLCs are in fact game updates. But you have rare cases where the DLCs are actually expansion packs but they call DLCs to that shit... The funny thing about the whole thing is the fact when many years pass from the game you purchase, they offer you the DLCs or they make new "complete edition" from the game with everything on it. I have games on my steam for example i never bough the DLCs and after some years they offer me the DLCs lol, same thing happen in my PlayStation 3 with many games.
+HéLio Rodrigues I liked it when they had them for free, but when they invented expansion packs, iloved those more because it was like 1/2 a sequel to the original game
I also remember when Bioware were just releasing Dragon Age Inquisition and promised there was not going to be any DLCs for the game as the game was and I quote "the complete game", apart from the free language pack for the 360 and PS3 (because the language sound file was slightly bugged) and the optional (if you didn't get the more expensive version) upgrade DLC... what happened there?
Amen brother. The example i use to illustrate the stupidity of DLC is this: Imagine playing Super Mario 1 and being charged extra for firepower. In that era, with that kind of gouging, video gaming would have died out quickly. Today, for whatever reason, people blindly accept these fees and will vehemently defend them also. It's truly sad.
When I was a kid, paying $39.99 for a Nintendo 64 game that was 100% finished was worth the price. I cracked up twice in this vid. "Then you're going to go with the same plain-ass gun you started with" and "that's videogame prostitution for all I'm concerned"
This sucks cause I played Street Figther X Tekken and it was very fun, but I hate the fact that Capcom wants you to pay for stuff that's already on the disk. Capcom is just going down the drain now.
Capcom Could've Just Said "We'll Also Include American Bad Ass Undertaker Free Of Charge If You Order The Game" I Honestly Wouldn't Mind Him Being In The Game
That is just downright bullshit. If we paid for disc, we deserve all of the disc's content if we already paid full price, we shouldn't have to pay twice just to get certain sections of the game. God, Capcom can't get this through their thick heads that we don't WANT this shit! Now look where they are now; they're practically broke, the majority of their fans have left, developers are dropping out left and right, most people are now giving 'em the finger saying 'serves 'em right' and to be honest, they kinda backed themselves into this corner with their own ignorance and ego.
Old days of gaming you get everything on the disc. Modern gaming? You get half of the game and the rest is sold as DLC. How did the world take a step backwards as the years pass?
And this is why loads of people pirate games because of shit like this. It's on the disc you can't have it its basically a huge middle finger to customers and piracy is the middle finger back
I dealt with this DLC Capcom Bullsnap 80 Galaxies Ago! I can't believe i have to deal with Capcom again! In The 81st Galaxy AKA Planaturium! I dealt with this issue since they started this bullsnap from Intergalaxy S-1 at Planet H! Capcom's gone way too far this time! I know their game and I DON'T LIKE IT ONE BIT!
This video was funny as hell. He is exactly right this is just a micro aggression form of extortion. It is especially true when you shipped the stuff on the disc.
Tekken Tag 2 is coming with more than 50 characters, tons of customization, endings for all characters, exclusive modes, etc. with no dlc planned. if you measure the quality of what's given, it gives you more than twice if the street fighter x tekken (even with the dlc).
The ONLY time DLC would be rewarding is if you buy a video game, and then a year later they make a DLC of newer additional levels/dungeons to play to lengthen the game play of your existing game.
Capcom almost tried that with SF3. What drives consumers away is not necessarily absence of hugely popular characters (although that would certainly hurt sales), it's that what replaces them is often times not nearly up to par. After all, those characters do have big shoes to fill. Supposedly, SF3 originally wasn't going to have any old characters in it. They added characters like Ryu/Ken at the last minute because no one could recognize any of the new characters. Newbies are risky business.
Yes, it does matter. They told you the characters were going to be in the store so you weren't expecting them to come with the game. Then, they were already on the disc. So if that's easier and more convenient to the consumer than what was expected before the purchase was made, it definitely matters.
The reason CAPCOM did on disc dlc for mvc3 was because Jill and shuma were unfinished at the time of the game's release date, and its the same here too, the characters already on the disc are unfinished
It doesn't matter what it was meant to be. These are your options: 1)download it from XBL or PSN and save it to your hard drive or 2)have it on the disc and unlock it. If you keep complaining about option 2, you're going to get option 1. Your idea of getting the entire game for $60 is not going to happen and they are not obligated to sell the whole thing to you for $60 (which is actually cheap when you consider inflation and look at how much games used to cost).
Capcom explicitly said that pair-play for Xbox 360 was never advertised, even though it was. Well, Namco is advertising it and saying that they will deliver. They also advertise and boast more than 50 playable fighters, plus unlocks, as well as a "superior" online mode, which still hasn't been completely fixed in Street Fighter X Tekken. You might also note that in order to get 50 characters in Street Fighter X Tekken you have to pay $20 for them even though they're already on your disc.
So for example when you buy the game at a retail store and go home and put in your console/PC, and start playing it and you notice there some characters or maps missing. I go to the dashboard and look at the add ons and see the characters I need are priced. No the DISC LOCKED CONTENT is unlocked when you purchase it, every game has a DLC that has to be manually unlocked from payment to complete your 60 bucks worth of a game. Its not right when Borderlands 2 raises the level cap when its hidden
What I mean by such is that there is no Capcom games after Street Fighter X Tekken. Many of the hardcore fighters that are not currently receiving backing money and treatment behind the sceens, like certain tournament fighters tat will not be named, have agreed that Capcom is no longer the primary company for supplying fighting games for their choice. In an age of the returning fighters, there's plenty other choices, tournaments will be using such. No RE tittles, No Lost Planet 3, NOTHING.
the worse thing about it is that complete games back then were basically equal to or above current games in content even when adding on some of the DLC.
I like how SNK and Atlus do their DLC. While the content is already on the disc, they give you the option of completing tasks within the game to unlock them OR you could by them on PSN Store. I find that better than this paying $50 to $60 for a game that's not complete and then they continue to add prices for DLC to fully complete the game. Paying to buy costumes is one thing but buying characters who are already in the game is utter nonesense.
It's odd how people only blew up this topic with Capcom when EPIC Games did that with Gears of War 3 already.. but when Epic did it.. nobody made a scene about it.. o_0
I don't see why so many people think that game companies are obligated to give you everything in the game for $60. They are allowed to charge anything they want and it isn't ripping you off as long as you know what you're getting beforehand. You could think of it like it's a $75 game (which isn't unreasonable since NES games were $100 in today's money when accounting for inflation) but you can pay $60 for a smaller version of the game.
Epic is well-respected and didn't hide the fact that they put DLC on the disc. They gave a logical reason for it and were completely honest. I think that's why nobody got too mad.
The point of having DLC-Characters on the Disc but not unlocking them is that people who bought the DLC can use the characters when playing online. Otherwise it would just create a huge mess of errors.
ya thats the worse when they say its a separate budget for dlc soon we will be paying $60 for a blank disc and will have to pay to play the game we aready payed for
@TheDickslash It depends on how it's done. For example, I'm a big fan of Rock Band. That game is PERFECT for dlc, and they execute their dlc-based business model to perfection. You can expand your collection of songs as much or as little as you want and get to customize your song library with songs you like. In a case like this though, the content is done, on the disc, ready to be used. And they lock it and make it so you have to pay to unlock it. That's not how dlc should be. That's stuff that
The character data is already there. All the DLC does is makes the character selectable. So there wouldn't be a problem. Getting to Capcom in general If the compatibility thing was true you wouldn't be able to play with anyone unless you have the exact same DLC as your opponent. you know outfits and such.
Capcom asshattery has long since ceased to surprise me. The million and millions (hyperbole) of Street Fighter II versions was an early warning I think we all missed. In other news, this is the first video by this person I have seen. I like the cut of his jib and I think me and him could be bros. I have subscribed and am going to check out his other videos.
It started with "Resident Evil 5" than "Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The DLC Edition" (That's "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3"), and it happened to "Street Fighter X Tekken". They changed the meaning for "DLC" (Downloadable content) to "Disc locked content". The last Capcom game I bought was "Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition". And I barely play it.
Gaming companies have apparently forgotten what DLCs were originally made for, they're supposed to enhance the already finished game that works perfectly on it's own, not allow them to release a half assed version of the game and then release all the other things that complete the experience so that people get ripped off
List of Capcom games with on disc DLC : SF4 has on disc Costume , SSF4 has on disc Costume, MVC3 has characters , UMVC3 also .. I might still be missing a few titles with on disc DLC...
DLC: Downloadable content, content that you DOWNLOAD not have it on the disc already. And no, when you go an buy a game, you pay for the whole product, that includes: the box, the disc, user manual, and all the code on the disc, this includes the so-called "DLC".
I know this video is roughly 4 years old.. but am I the only one who remembers Bioware saying that Dragon Age Inquisition will be the full game and there will be no future DLC's for the game when they were asked if all the games future DLC's would be available on the PS3 and 360...
Or like buying a 4 bedroom house. Get the keys and find out that 4th room is locked. You call the Realtor and he/she tells you have to pay $1,000 to unlock the 4th room.
Wasn't with RE5. They did it with Street fighter 4 TWICE. (Super Street Fighter 4, Super Street Fighter 4 ARCADE EDITION), Marvel VS Capcom 3 LITERALLY, 2 weeks or so after it came out, they announced ULTIMATE Marvel VS Capcom 3, and you then had to SELL you're original, to BUY the ultimate Ver.
I'm on the fence about the whole jailbreak scene, but someone should definitely come up with a way to jailbreak content ALREADY ON THE DISC. Hell, it'd be a truer sense of the word since it's literally locked away on there....
Before starting I want to say that looking at that game collection of yours make me incredibly jelly. That said, I love your rant. And when I happen to stumble with people saying "hey, it's not like you're FORCED to but it" or "can't you afford it POORFAG? Blahaha" or even better, they DEFEND it by saying that's "a separate budget you know", so it's all okay? FFS there are DLC colors, DLC gems, DLC COMBOS and DLC skins! And all on the damn disc!
With absolutely no possible way to glitch your way around them. I also have a feeling that if you were to break threw the security bar it would be programmed to erase all data straight from the disk so that you would never be able to play from that disk again.
Resident Evil:Opperation Raccoon City has Nemesis Mode, a full ingame mode where you get to play as Nemesis. It is Day one DLC on the disc that costs money, and not only that but it is also 360 exclusive. Who puts an entire game mode console exclusive when the game is cross platform, only capcom
Capcom actually started the whole disc locked content with Street Fighter 4 and the costume packs. All the alternate costumes were already on the disc and you had to pay for an unlock code. Funny that you show a Katamari game as the one in the xbox had extra levels locked on the disc too.
The only game where Capcom DIDN'T do the Disc Locked Content bullshit was DmC Devil May Cry. But even then, someone found out by changing a .ini file in the PC's version directory of the game, you can get the DMC3 look for Dante. So technically there WAS disc locked content but I will be willing to overlook it since it's free
"What happened to beating the game and unlocking the extra fighters on the disc?" i never even thought of it like that but good fuckin point. I saw this DLC shit coming when it was first announced but never thought it would get this bad.
Fighting games have always had reformed versions though, even as far back as Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 2. The only plus side these days is due to patching it is possible to fix possible bugs, exploits and general unbalance. However with this game there is already a solid 40+ cast in the game, which is more than enough for any casual gamer and even pro. They could go down the "Super" path and force a disc purchase down the line, but they don't need to. This saves hard drive space too.
No, I really do believe that DLC on consoles are corrupting the game industry. Remember how much content video games use to have back then? Now the only thing that most game developers think about is "if we cant get it in on time then we will just make it DLC." They're pretty much just trying to justify their laziness for not finishing it sooner. What's even worse is that they make us pay extra for their unfinished work. Capcom had more than a YEAR to put those characters on the game.
A) Bioshock 2 has On-Disc DLC and people got pissed about that B) The only On-Disc DLC that Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time had was the pre-order DLC and that was NEVER released to the public besides the pre-order itself. I know because I myself would pay the extra cash to actually get them yet I NEVER DID so that argument about R&C:ACiT having On-Disc DLC that needs to pay like $5 for is useless. Besides the pre-order, everything was easily obtainable and the On-Disc DLC was technically free
And yes I do believe musical artists and athletes deserve the millions that they make. If it isn't them getting it, then it's the team owners, record companies, or owners of concert venues.
Yes, I understand that people think that they should get everything that's on the disk. I just discourage people from complaining about it because the publishers are not just going to give it to you, they're just going to make you download it in the store, which is worse. So yes, it isn't really DLC, but it's a better system for the consumer than real DLC.
Just wait until they release "Super Street Fighter x Tekken Ultimate Arcade Edition", comes with all the locked disc content and a "thank you for your money card."
Capcom's third strike? Nope. SF4, SSF4 and SSF4:AE = alternate costume packs on disc. MvC3 = alternate costume packs, and of course, 'extra' charaters. UMvC3 = alternate costume packs again. RE5 = missions on disc. SFxT = alternate costimes, gems, and TWELVE - FUCKING TWELVE - characters! Four different game series, spanning no less than seven games with fake DLC already on the disc. That I know of. So far.
It's not as simple as that. They can't just animate a character, give it a move set and throw it into the game. Balancing is a huge issue in fighting games, especially considering at day 1 this game had a $25,000 dollar tournament, imagine if they had a broken character there. There's also the point that casuals probably wouldn't care at all about the 12 DLC characters, so having them or not wouldn't make a difference, they'd just play Ryu and Ken anyway. DLC is for people who put the time in.
Resident Evil 5, Lost Planet 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Street Figher 4, and now Street Fighter X Tekken. Oh and I can see that DLC is more convinent if its already on the disc just like Mortal Kombat right?
I looked into this AlphaOmegaSin and not only are there the DLC characters on the disk with costume packs for a total of around 50 characters... BUT the XBOX version has the presumed SONY exclusive characters also locked on the disk (Megaman, Pac-Man, ETC) >:(
Namco actually did do it with Soulcalibur V. Dampierre is on disk.. when you buy him for $4.99 the file is 100kb. I'm also guessing all the custom options are also on disk considering they are also 100kb. I honestly expect when they come out with Tekken x Street Fighter that they will also do the same thing.
"Absolute Capcom Diehard Faithful?" With respect I think I'll reject that label. Alpha, I'm a subscriber who MOST always agrees with what you have to say about games and gaming in general. I also think you have as much appreciation for what Capcom has brought to gaming and love for their games as I do. So I ask that you accept an alternative opinion. Logically, when I bought SFxT I got everything that Capcom told me I was going to get. They have done nothing morally or legally wrong.
@IceVallejo Capcom confirmed that it's gonna be an only 1 disc release, so basically you are waiting for nothing, all the dlc will be released on one disc.
Problems I see with some video games today: 1. Lacks solid gameplay 2. The game is halfway from finished 3. No story (people care for the story and not just the gameplay) 4. DLCs raping your wallet 5. Gameplay almost gets no change in its successor 6. And if it does, changes maybe worse 7. Games being carbon copies of another game Quoted for truth. Lets read books. Imagine the world in 2 years if we all read books instead of playing games. We'd be colonizing Mars in 2020.
It totally baffles me how unbelievably stupid Capcom is. I mean it's almost comical. It's hard to believe a company this big and one of the largest video game companies in the world have the utter stupidity to do something like this.
this is why piracy in the game industry is so prevalent.
DLC is a scam. If I buy a game I expect it to be complete.
I have the same opinion...In other words
"I agree"
Same
DLC= DISC Locked content
Fuck no.
DLC = DownLoadable Content
***** dude i know but crapcom gives (DLC) a whole new meaning
Damon Gant Man....look at what they did to Mega Man !
***** I know right?! look how fat he is!!!
helios555 Jump'n shoot man no more,he is more of a : eat pizza'n watch tv man xD
DLC will be the downfall of this and future gen console gaming.
I'd say how it's being implemented in such a grimmy way that along with the other junk like microtransactions in premium ($60 or more) games.
To the people who don't understand, if I pay 60 bucks for a game I Want wants on the disk if the so called DLC is on that disk I own it I paid for it, I shouldn't have to pay for it again. Sadly not every game gets a special or GOTY edition with all the DLC's....On the disk and not a stupid code thing.....
they removed the true ending of asuras wrath and made people pay for act 4 business practices like these are the reason why there in finacnle shit
I think because originally there was supposed to be sequal, but game didn't sell well
but true it's sad and Bullshit in same time

Yep I'd Laugh So Hard If ABA Undertaker Gets His Ass Kicked By Poison
Triple H
That would be fucking, hilarious. CAPCOM! MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha I See It Now
Jonathan: OW My Balls
Undertaker: You Just Had To Kick Him There Didn't You
Remember when video game developers were having a pissing contest to see who could cram the most content into a game? I miss those days.
Capcom meaning of dlc = disk locked content why capcom you rocked in the 80 and 90 what the hell happened to you
"Disc Locked Content" will never buy another Capcom game ever again.

Paying to buy costumes is one thing but buying characters who are already in the game is utter nonesense.
dude i love the fact that you have sooo many games in the background
It's odd how people only blew up this topic with Capcom when EPIC Games did that with Gears of War 3 already.. but when Epic did it.. nobody made a scene about it.. o_0
The caption part had me dying of laughter. I don't even care if my neighbours wake up, they can watch this video with me.
You would have to pay for the pay 'n sprays, the street vendors, the guns, and the cool side-stuff (bowling, heli-tours, etc.)
Complete Arcade mode with 7 perfects, 10 super finishes, no continues, fight the secret boss. Defeat him/her and he/she is now playable.
Anyone remember the good old days when DLC was called expansions and actually had a significant amount of game content?
It started with "Resident Evil 5" than "Marvel vs. Capcom 3: The DLC Edition" (That's "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3"), and it happened to "Street Fighter X Tekken". They changed the meaning for "DLC" (Downloadable content) to "Disc locked content".
The last Capcom game I bought was "Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition". And I barely play it.
Gaming companies have apparently forgotten what DLCs were originally made for, they're supposed to enhance the already finished game that works perfectly on it's own, not allow them to release a half assed version of the game and then release all the other things that complete the experience so that people get ripped off
And on siliconera it says apparently Harada said in an interview when asked about DLC if he does do DLC characters and stages they'll be free
One of these days- I'm gonna animate that DLC part for you AlphaOmegaSin.
was absolutely hilarious~! XD
it,s now 20 bucks to download the 12 dlc characters on street fighter vs tekken smh.
I just bought the 12 character pack tonight. I noticed that and just happened to stumble on this video tonight... FML
Great videos tho AOS
Your points are great, and your analogies are pretty funny and relevant as well.
"What happened to beating the game and unlocking the extra fighters on the disc?"
i never even thought of it like that but good fuckin point.
Capcom had more than a YEAR to put those characters on the game.
the normal price for triple a games is £43.99 with budget games 37.99
@AlphaOmegaSin what you said about CDs is actually happening in the form of "bonus tracks"
A) Bioshock 2 has On-Disc DLC and people got pissed about that
B) The only On-Disc DLC that Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time had was the pre-order DLC and that was NEVER released to the public besides the pre-order itself. I know because I myself would pay the extra cash to actually get them yet I NEVER DID so that argument about R&C:ACiT having On-Disc DLC that needs to pay like $5 for is useless. Besides the pre-order, everything was easily obtainable and the On-Disc DLC was technically free
remember the even better older days when games came out complete?????
And yes I do believe musical artists and athletes deserve the millions that they make. If it isn't them getting it, then it's the team owners, record companies, or owners of concert venues.
You buy a house from capcom but you have to wait 6 months before you can buy the kitchen key dlc
yes in resident evil 5 for example the versus mode is on the disc but you need to pay to unlock it ... the file is just 100kb
People act like this is the first time this has happened. Also there is the fact that no one owns anything on the disc but Capcom.
BUT the XBOX version has the presumed SONY exclusive characters also locked on the disk (Megaman, Pac-Man, ETC) >:(
actually DMC3's dante is going to be a dlc skin character which was confirmed recently... so im sure they do have disc locked content yet again
Well,do not worry, they will release Super Mega Ultra Ultimate Street Fighter X Tekken Arcade Of the Year 2013 patch in a year.
The irony is that I read an article somewhere about a Resident Evil 6 and Left 4 Dead 2 crossover DLC announced.
We've just decided not to pay for anything Capcom until further notice.
Problems I see with some video games today:
1. Lacks solid gameplay
2. The game is halfway from finished
3. No story (people care for the story and not just the gameplay)
4. DLCs raping your wallet
5. Gameplay almost gets no change in its successor
6. And if it does, changes maybe worse
7. Games being carbon copies of another game
Quoted for truth. Lets read books. Imagine the world in 2 years if we all read books instead of playing games. We'd be colonizing Mars in 2020.
Remember when you could unlock characters and items back on last gen consoles, now its called DLC.
It totally baffles me how unbelievably stupid Capcom is. I mean it's almost comical. It's hard to believe a company this big and one of the largest video game companies in the world have the utter stupidity to do something like this.
