The field trip thing about "Katarina" is about the contrast between what her mother was going to name her when she was in the womb ( katarina = pure light) and what she ended up naming her the minute she was born (Melanie = darkness). Edit: Most of the videos had wrong lyrics and its disappointing because it takes away so much from her beautiful lyricism.

I really love her music, like Crybaby shows the toxicity in family, K12 shows toxicity in school, and After School shows mainly relationship issues with it starting off with toxicity in careers. Then all of them have parts with insecurities and relationships issues. And with Portals, it shows her growth, independence and confidence but still willing to be in a relationship if it’s healthy. It’s all great.

This song is about attachment to people and the world around you. Being attached brings new experiences, growth, learning, companionship, and happiness with others, but sometimes it can be overbearing or there can be people who hurt you or use you, so you want to be alone and guard yourself. Maybe you're also just an introvert. On the flip side, however, being alone and detached means you won't learn and grow from the world around you, you could become lonely and depressed, and you may even get bored of just your own company, but at least you can take a break from the world to self-reflect, guard yourself from the pain of others, and keep yourself productive instead of just socializing and playing around. So, should we be glued up or glueless?

Numbers is about how the music industry works and how they just look at artists just a money machine for their own gain. How they don't have the freedom to create but what works to get the company money instead. Which is why she came on saying, "I'm just a number" in pain, showing it can cost damage if you just treat them like a number. Then the bakery is actually about where she used to work in a bakery to make money for her music!

LONG COMMENT about Field Trip; I actually love the song Field Trip for some of the things you said you don't understand she's making a lot of Astrological and Spiritual references. The line; "Tryna bring the mystical into thе material. Bitch, I'm an eleven Life Path, I'm ethereal." Melanie was born April 28, 1995, which makes her a Life Path 11. Life Path 11s are meant to act as a bridge between the material (physical) world and the spiritual (divine) world. In this line, Melanie references and embraces her role as a Life Path 11. " I try my best to show them me, my risin' sign is all they see Scorpio bitch with a sharp-ass sting." I got a Taurus sun, moon, and Mercury." Here, Melanie refers to her astrology ascendant sign, or “rising sign” which is Scorpio, her outward appearance to the world. It's the first time Melanie sings as herself, instead of an alterego like in Cry Baby, K-12 and Portals. It's the most "not ever supposed to be a commercial" project of her. It's very introspective.
