The jig was amazing. Being able to come up with that on the fly is next level engineering. I'm pretty sure that's something only one in 10k people could invent. I have a HHR with tinted windows with a smilar color and it looks really nice.
@@jimmyjam813 yeah that was one of those things that is not available to any one but if you think about it you could build a similar jig by screwing some 2x4s to a piece of plywood now that someone can see how it works. Thanks for watching
@@LakeAndLodgeGarage My best friend is building a 71 GTO convertable with wing windows, I let him know they come tinted now. They have a really clean look.
Great idea on the jig, Mike. I struggled a bit fitting the glass into the frame, but ended up using wd-40 on the inside and outside of the rubber channel, installing the channel onto the glass and fitting the glass into the frame. Took a gamble and used a rubber mallet to drive the glass into the frame completely. One other suggestion: I used weatherstrip adhesive like a contact cement on the frame and the last channel that the door glass rides up and down in. I once had an F150 that had that channel slide up and down as you operated the door glass. Very annoying!
@@davidbrown-55 oh. Good point! All the frames and parts for the vent windows were original GM parts from the original car with the exception of the seals and weather stripping. Thanks for watching
I'm going to repair mine and send the chrome off to the powder coaters, I want them black. Thanks for sharing.
