    UPDATE: If you want to create quite separate cargo and passenger docks in the one location you can do so by *removing* some of the connected modules - please see this Steam post for an example.

    Three years ago you made this video...................................and it is still most useful. Thanks for making and sharing :)
    The part where you mention the anchor as a symbol on whether a ship can use it or not was invaluable. I had no got a clue about the "landing" zone that need to be added for ships to dock to. They then offer another terminal to the docks. Easy isn't it, when you know how :)

      Thank you, very kind of you to say.
      To be honest I also initially struggled with the landing and the dock so when I eventually worked it out, I thought other players might appreciate a little heads-up. As you say, once you know ... 😎

    One thing you can do to constrain a multi-cargo vessel from filling too much of one cargo type versus another is to use the Load/Unload filter (gear & box icon) for the station in the Manage Lines dialog. You can adjust by percentage the amount to load of each commodity at a station. Thus, a 2 compartment ship could be restricted to 50% of food at 1 stop and 50% of machines at the next stop. Doing this avoids over filling into the second compartment. This series on multi-cargoes is brilliant! Thanks for working this out and making the vids. BTW, found your channel via Steam post.

      Hi, thank you for your most kind comments on this little series.
      If I recall correctly, the ability to set the load percentages arrived after I recorded this episode and I have to admit I've not tried it yet. :(
      But absolutely, that should resolve the issue of overfilling with one type of freight so you are able to carry multiple cargo types where needed.

      This is the most important part if you want to carry both types consistently. Set the ship to 50% load at the first dock and it will make sure that there is still space in the second compartment when it gets to the second dock.

    I usually do three stops at each port; unload passengers, unload and load cargo and then load passengers. Since passengers choose their route based on travel time, you dont want them sitting around on your ship while it is dropping off and collecting cargo. This is particularly relevant if you want to use any of the "wait until loaded" options at the cargo dock.

      Hi, yes, that is a sensible strategy, thanks for adding that observation.
      I don't often focus on optimising when I play but paying attention to such details should reap revenue rewards as well as being more realistic.

    You are a legend sir solved my very frustrating problem i.e. the little tyres

      Thank you, always good to hear that I've been able to help out. 😊
      Yeah, it took me a while, and a search of the forums, to realise how to get it to work. It does makes sense when you realise you can put two docks on a single landing, navigable water permitting.

    Oh now this give me an idea for a low number of passengers boat line in my game. Thanks Ajaxpost.

    For the life of me, I could not figure out how to get the boats to dock at the add-on docks I placed. I assumed it was like the rail stations... just add the track and switch to "2". I need that anchor symbol! thank you.

      So glad to know I've been able to help another player, so thank you for taking the time to comment. 😊
      Must admit it also took me a while to realise how the dock modules worked, they are quite different to the others.

    the difference between all and the single cargo types is in the details. Oil based resources cannot be transported with these once, only with the all ships. because the listed cargo types do not include every single cargo type in the game available. for example oil based are excluded. it looks like its all but those are not all. it might be that it was historically forbidden for those to transport it with passengers together due to security reasons (flamable). The once who have the all attributes might have had actual different compartments to store those types of goods secured. As you can see some of the ships do transport the goods directly on the deck, which might be very dangerous with oi based goods :D

      Hi, thank you watching and taking the time to comment. 😊
      You are absolutely right, it is always important to check the details - the game _does_ tell you what you need to know. And, as you say, the 'real world' has many good reasons for not mixing all the cargo types together. 🙂

    I'm going to point out a couple things you don't seem to fully understand/grasp.
    1. 14:24 The triangles mean the dock will be placed perpendicular to the harbor building. The rectangles mean it will be placed parallel to it. That is why when you had the large dock the one rectangle was red while it was blue with the small dock.
    2. When you are in the modification screen of a harbor/train station/truck stop/airport you only need to put your cursor over the blue square/triangle/rectangle to get the module to snap into place. You keep trying to line it up from your isometric view but the developers made it much more simple than that.
    Also, I don't know for sure but I believe the dotted white lines indicate where people will walk and don't actually show the path of cargo. That is why the cargo harbor has the markings on the dock and the street connection but not through the building itself.

      Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to make such detailed observations.
      I haven't tried it again just yet, but that makes sense for the triangle and rectangle symbols.
      I do have some issues with some of the visuals when it comes to exactly where the cursor is in the playing area but, yes, focusing more on the icons than the 3D object should make it easier for me, and other players. 👍
      I'm pretty confident that the dotted white 'traffic' lines show where both people _and_ freight travel but they are probably just shown where they are needed to make connections and are simply 'implied' within the main buildings which don't connect directly to streets or other stations types. Possibly? 🙂

    • @joshuadoll9000
      @joshuadoll9000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AjaxpostPlays Yeah I'm not 100% sure about those traffic lines either. I'm going to do more experimenting when I get a chance to see if I can determine exactly what they represent.

      @@AjaxpostPlays Also I just re-read my comment again and realized it came off condescending and for that I apologize; that was not my intent. I was pretty tired when I wrote that comment and what I had formulated in my head didn't translate to my comment like it should have.

      @@joshuadoll9000 No problem. I too can appear to 'sound' a little brusque on typed responses. I know that I may miss or misunderstand some features so am happy to accept any positive guidance when it's offered.

    Click on the fish and you can put a camera on them. At least you can with the other animals - cranes and deer.

      @AjaxpostPlays  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, yes I have done that with fish or birds though can't remember if I actually recorded it, probably not, but yes it's a neat feature though they don't often go anywhere interesting. :)
