    Don't know why anyone should give you negative feedback, Jason. You don't deserve that at any point now or in the past. Put simply you are a class act, up there with the like of Luke Towens. Put simply you appeal internationally and have an eye for detail. You said that you are an artist but you are more than that - you are also a teacher - and I am glad to say, I am learning loads just watching you. All the best but remember, don't get hung up and stressed by deadlines, do your own thing and enjoy this wonderful hobby. Mike

      Hi Jason. What depth of foam is it where we can see the arched brick embankment next to the painted water feature/estuary? Have you used 2 blocks of 50mm making the depth 100mm in total? Mike

    It’s looking fantastic..
    If you are using a paint roller and know you will need it in a few days for the same color I take it off the roller and put it wet with the paint in a zip lock bag .
    Okay I really need to ask . How did you get so darn good at painting like that ? I just don’t have the eye or imagination to do anything like that and have it look like it is supposed to. Never mind . You mentioned later on you’re an artist, makes sense, I was thinking you might be.

    The scenary looks already great. I'm so curious. How will it go on? The bridge for the trains, i almost can't stand it. But i have never seen such a blue river. If i understood correct, that area is already intertidal zone. The water is always muddy, at least a little bit. Maybe a light wash with a real light burnt umber? I am so inspired, because watching you. But i have not enough space left for a model railway...

    I'm sure all those stairs you refer to will look great...but how does the business on the seafront work? Why have the dock if you can't get the fish to market? Or if it's an engine repair business how to get spare parts delivered down those stairs? Surely you need easy access for it to work?

    Just saw the first episode and you are creating a layout with all the elements I hope to have one day. Fantastic work and am looking forward to seeing this come together. As for the bridge, you can't beat the old AHM lift bridge as a source of inspiration. I think George Sellios kitbashed a couple for the F&SM. Also, please don't stress about the video content. Just do your thing your own way. It's much appreciated. Cheers.

    Another great video, Jason. It's rare that I sit and watch a video in its entirety without thumbing along but for this I made a cup of coffee and enjoyed the whole thing. I agree with you about getting a feel for the layout before making more in depth videos about the details. I really like the way those rocks turned out and the water looks fantastic. I like your artistic approach to modelling, it works very well. I use the Liquitex gel you mentioned for water (and waterfalls) as I find that I get too many air bubbles with mod podge gloss that can lead to a frosty looking finish. Best of luck with your project and happy modelling....Tom

    It All Looks Amazing ! Can't wait to see how you paint your stones, they look so real. If you want your water to look like real water, I highly recommend using Enviro Tec 2 part epoxy. Michael 's carries it. It dries relatively fast, and it honestly looks like wet water when it's dry

Something that I would love to see are unedited version of this video and also of the clouds painting videos at normal speed. Another good tip is to put your roller in a plastic bag and freeze it. Also can do that with paint brushes also. When you need to use it again just let it thaw out. Love your videos great detail in everything you do.

  • @GrannyGooseOnYouTube
    @GrannyGooseOnYouTube 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Tip from an old house painter (me): Re the paint that collects in the trough of the paint can when pouring - save yourself time. Skip all that hole punching and simply take your brush and run the tips of the bristles around the trough and lip of the can. This will collect the paint in the trough onto your brush, and you can then just wipe it onto the inside of the lip into the can.

    Hello Jason, I am working on a small water area on my layout and am wondering if you have any recommendations on how to make the water look more realistic? I am trying to have a shallow area lead into deeper water.

    • @JasonJensenTrains
      @JasonJensenTrains  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would use lighter colors in the shallow area and dark colors in the deeper end. I actually use black in the center of the deepest area. Then texter it (which I have not done yet) with a gloss gel. I'm going to use Liquidtex gloss modeling paste or you could use gloss ModPodge. Hope this helps.

    • @INKDRAILS
      @INKDRAILS 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JasonJensenTrains Thanks Jason this helps a lot, I used the Woodland Scenics Undercoat Navy Blue and Deep Blue. But they seem to dark, do you recommend a lighter blue for the shallow water?

    • @JasonJensenTrains

      Yes, a lighter blue or if its really shallow you can lightly sponge on some grey tans or grey browns to represent rocks under the water.
