- In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the Jadavpur constituency in West Bengal is witnessing an interesting three-cornered contest between three young prominent names in State politics today. The CPI(M)'s Srijan Bhattacharya is up against actress-turned-politician Saayoni Ghosh of the Trinamool Congress and senior BJP leader Anirban Ganguly.
Jadavpur, once a stronghold of the CPI(M)-led Left Front, has become a Trinamool Congress bastion over the past few elections. In this interview with Frontline's Suhrid Sankar Chattopadhyay, Srijan Bhattacharya talks about the impact of the SSC recruitment scam on the youth vote in Bengal, the local issues he would address in his constituency, his electoral prospects, and more.

Fact is, the sociopolitical consciousness of the people of Bengal has degenerated to such an extent that they would much rather vote for thugs, criminals, scoundrels, lumpens than give an opportunity to those who can truly work towards a regeneration of the state and the people.

I don't think in this particular election (parliament) tmc can be the only opposition of cpm in any respect. But as expressed by Srijan etc(there are few exceptions) it seems they are contesting only with tmc which is a local party. Mr. Srijan Bhattacharya a very humble question to you. Why left front has to go for a coalition with Congress, who was their arch-rival for many decades. West bengal is the fourth largest state in India & left front ruled over this state around three and half decades, at least thousand of left workers had been killed by Congress. Only to achieve the power you have had done this kind of alliance with Congress. Left front ideology will never ever at par with Congress. You are trying to fish in trouble water. Instead of doing this, try to build your organisation in proper way and at the same time you should try to go for contest at any election only as a left front. No need for any alliance. Every now and then you along with your senior leaders vociferously say that you have a larger mass base. Had it been so, then Mr. Bhattacharya, why it is not reflected in election. As an individual, I admire you. What is your opinion what your senior leaders did in 2005 & 2008. Mere sorry regarding these issues will not suffice anymore.

This particular man is very cunny, and has that typical communist character of a leader which brought down fall to the communist rule in Bengal. The way he speaks and munches his word while speaking shows only that he doesn't mean what speaks. Buddha,Biman,Subhas came in the forefront at the present age of Srijon,not to become martyrs but to lead the State.Srijon will definitely win and represent millions of voices at the Parliament. Rampant corruption in recruiting teachers ? TMC is corrupt but to some extent, 10-15% jobs were sold, and the whole process otherwise was transparent. On the contrary, during CPM era all of these jobs were given/distributed to the party cadres and their wives through "chirkoois" , hand written memo or letters. So, it's better this idiot doesn't talk about honesty and transparancy !!
